If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.
YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.
We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:
And now for this week’s giveaway deets:
- PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Best way to mix it up for dinner is to have someone else do the cooking – hubby, take out, or family/friend’s house!
Second favorite way to mix it up is that I never cook the same recipe the same way more than 2 times in a row. Drives hubby batty, but makes it more fun for me.

I’m a super lucky wife…the hubs does all the cooking for me! But right now we’re really into crock-pot meals. That way we can throw all the ingredients in before we leave for work and come to a yummy smelling house and easy-as-pie dinner :)

My favorite thing to do for dinner is changed up leftovers. For example, tonight we are having pot roast, mashed potatoes and carrots. Tomorrow we will be using that pot roast to make shredded beef enchiladas, yum!

I WANT SUPPER :)
Our favorite way to mix up dinner is to make sure we eat at the table! Seems simple enough, but after a long day at the office and practically doing a cannonball into my sweats when I get home, it’s easy to just plop down on the couch and eat. I love the nights we decide to actually sit at our kitchen table and have date night!
Katharine says
I want supper! One day a week I try to prepare roasted veggies, some type of meat, etc. that can be easily incorporated into the rest of the week’s meals. I’m really looking forward to these emails for some new recipes!

We always try new recipes every week and I do the same thing that you do with inspiration photos – saving them, putting them in a binder – I do that with recipes that I find in magazines and recipe cards from grocery stores – so anytime we want to try something new, we definitely have a recipe for it! And if a recipe doesn’t turn out good, I just remove it from our binder :) love that binder!

I WANT SUPPER!!! My favorite thing to mix up, when I don’t have an hour to cook dinner which I actually love doing :), is throwing together a bunch of beans, rice (or potatoes) and vegetables and making a goulash type meal. My family love, love, loves it!

Hello Supper! I wish you would make yourself. Every night!
However, I’m thankful because my husband almost always cooks. Making dinner stresses me out for some reason, and I also hate grocery shopping. A $100 gift card to Kroger would at least make it less painful on my wallet!
Thanks for the giveaway, YHL. :)

My boyfriend just discovered food. Before I met him he was a turkey sandwich, cereal, bagel eating man. That’s all he ate! Now, when we go to the farmer’s market, he picks one item and I make a meal around it. Last week, he picked goat. Where he found goat at our tiny market is beyond me but thanks to the “Joy of Cooking” and many calls to my mom, we had a fabulous meal.

I WANT SUPPER!!!!
This is the extent of mixing it up at our house.
The other night I was going out to dinner with my old college roommate. Before I left, my kids were fed a fabulously nutritious meal of Vienna sausages, Spaghetti O’s, and apple slices. The youngest (who is 4) said, “Mommy, you are the bestest cooker EVER.” Eating junk from a can……what can I say? I can’t wait to check out the You’ve got Supper website to see what it is about!

I have always wished someone would invent something that would have dinner ready when you walked in the door. We are the worst at coming home after a long day and being way too lazy to cook.

Dinner is my favorite time of day– when I really get to connect with my husband after our long days at work! We like to mix things up by having new things every night- but on Tuesdays it’s always a challenge with our 8 friends coming to dinner! :)

I WANT SUPPER!!!!
Well I live in a small town on the Mississippi river and I my husband and I love to cook but cannot always find the fresh ingredients that we need. So we grow them on the side of our 1889 Victorian dream. I mix almost everything up with a sprig of rosemary! Try rosemary home fries (potato wedges or frozen fries if you are less daring, sea salt, rosemary sprigs, and fresh garlic…yummm!)

I have been looking for something like this for a while. I love the idea of a weekly menu and shopping list (btw Aldi has something similar but not as pretty).
I hate cooking so I would rather go to an ethnic restaurant in town but when I do cook I love to make chili and soups. MMM

I work evenings, and my husband works days. I try to have leftovers on hand for the nights I work, or I throw together something simple for him to heat up when he gets home. When there’s no time, we open a can of refried beans for tacos with beans, cilantro, frozen corn, and salsa. Easy, healthy, and good.

I WANT SUPPER!
Not a mix actually…rather a swap. In our home the big meal of the day is lunch. That means that I usually prepare the main dish the night before and just make the salad when we come home from work.
So dinner is either a sandwich or some soup or a fruitsalad or milk and cereal or…pizza (see football/basketball night)!

We mix it up by taking turns planning meals/cooking for a week. We also love making breakfast (pancakes, waffles, omelets) for dinner. I go to Elise’s Simply Recipes or Pioneer Woman’s when I haven’t got a clue what to have.

I WANT SUPPER
My roommates and I have the best plan: we each cook one night a week for the whole house, and then we scrounge our own meals on the 3 other evenings. Usually, on those 3 extra nights, I manage to bum dinner off a non-college couple or family from my church.
The bottom line? I make dinner only once or twice a week! Though to be honest, I am excited to get married in March and start cooking dinner for my hubby nightly. Especially if there’s a website like You’ve Got Supper to help me out!
