If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.
YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.
We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:
And now for this week’s giveaway deets:
- PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I WANT SUPPER!
My partner does the cooking, so I mix it up by cooking once a week, always from one of the countries I lived in growing up (I was a military brat, and collected cookbooks from all over the world!)

boring! boring! boring! that’s what our dinner looks like! when i’m not working, i LOVE to cook. the prepping, the smells, the presentation… but during the week, having about 30 minutes to throw something together usually means i end up with variations of the same meal every night! therefore, going out to eat or eating at a friends house is the greatest thing. it doesn’t even matter how good it is – the fact that it’s something different makes it really enjoyable!

My husband and I were inspired by your ‘Recipe Night’ and started one of our own. Every Sunday night one of us prepares a new recipe for the other! It’s been a great way for us to use our imaginations while doing something special for the other :)

I love to cook and my hubby eats anything I make(which is a good thing he isn’t picky about food:) The smell of food cooking is awesome and nothing like real meat, taters, and fresh veggies:)

We have a version of ‘Iron Chef’ with friends every couple of months. Two teams of 3 are given a secret ingredient and then have two hours to run to the store and then make an appetizer, entree, dessert, and drink, and a couple of friends judge. It is a lot of fun! I’m judging this Saturday and in search of a new secret ingredient…

I follow so many food blogs that there is always something in the queue I want to try. Lots of the cooking shows I watch have their recipes online, too, so I guess mixing it up for us is to go beyond the cookbook collection and make something that grabbed us online/on TV.

My husband and I are both grad students, and I do most of the cooking. So once a week, we mix up and he cooks his fabulous mexican chicken and a special red sauce. It is quick, easy, cheap, and best of all, I don’t have to cook it!

I usually have friends over about once every other week and I try out a new recipe, usually from one of my faves: Gourmet magazine, Alton Brown, or Ina Garten. Also, I swear by Deb Perelman’s blog smittenkitchen.com for trying out new baked goods! Yummy!

I have so many recipes that I’ve collected that I put in an accordion folder that I rarely have time to try. Usually I just make what my mom made for us growing up. Can’t go wrong with the classics!

I WANT SUPPER!!
I do most of the cooking in our house. I switch things up a bit by making simpler meals. For example, for lunch this past weekend, my husband and I ate pinto beans, black beans and shredded reduced fat mexican blend cheese mixed together, the microwaved for like 2 minutes. A tiny dollup of sour cream and there’s the meal!! Better than slaving over a meal for hours, which is what I normally do!

Our favorite way to mix up supper is by having our weekly “Noche de Espanol” with a couple friends. We started about 3 years ago, and once a week we meet for dinner and speak only Spanish for the whole night — to help us all brush up on our Spanish for travel, work, etc. Plus it’s a great excuse to keep up with friends in our busy lives.

I’m hungry…I WANT SUPPER!
I recently mixed up my dinners by having a freezer meal swap with some friends. We each cooked 5 family-sized servings of the same meal, froze them, then met and swapped them so we each ended up with 5 different meals. So, not only do we get new (to us) meals, but we also don’t have to cook, clean up and we can eat in our pjs!

I usually do the cooking but am thrilled when my husband gets home from work early or cooks on his day off. I especially love when he does the grocery shopping and coming home to a frig full of surprises.
