If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.
YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.
We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:
And now for this week’s giveaway deets:
- PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I love to cook & entertain so my favorite thing is having friends over for dinner, especially when I am giving them a much-needed break from doing their own cooking!

I try a new recipe each week (usually on the weekends when I have more time) that I find on Internet sites, emails, friends, magazines, or TV shows. I make my husband rate them on a scale of 1-5 stars and throw out anything under 4. Why cook something that’s just okay (unless it was super easy)…. That way things are mixed up and we try something new. But still eat our favorite staples the rest of the week.

“I WANT SUPPER” and I have been prepping a few meals for the freezer once a month with a friend. Then I have something easy to pull out and am less apt to go out.

College taught me that eating out a lot was a big waste of money, and since I graduated just last year, I haven’t kicked the budget-friendly habit. So when my boyfriend and I, or friends, eat out, it’s a great treat and a break from the normal routine of laboring in the kitchen (or eating frozen pizza…).

I want supper! What a fantastic idea! I hate the planning phase.

My friends and I do dinner once a week. We rotate houses, so each person only has to make dinner one Tuesday a month instead of four. And since Tuesday is Biggest Loser night, we make something healthy and watch the show. (We get pretty into it.)

I WANT SUPPER!!
I do so much better when I do plan out my meals ahead of time and shop once a week or bi-weekly. Saves me $$ and headache! Although I would have to say that having someone else cook for me is at the top of my list. Even if it is someone who is paid to do it (at a restaurant.) :O)

I love breakfast for dinner – yummy, extra cinammony french toast, cheesy hashbrowns, and bacon… ok now I’m hungry…

We cook at home most nights, so our version of mixing it up would be to go out to a fav. restaurant. :)

Probably my favorite way to mix things up for supper is to stand at the refrigerator, open the door and stare for a while, feel guilty about holding the door open, close the door, go the pantry, stare some more, and then take all the containers that are almost empty or are about to go bad and put them on the counter. From there, anything can happen! We once had spinach quiche, potato soup, and wheat thins for dinner. It was good though! Needless to say, I need help :)

I mix it up by using the internet to find lots of new recipes. My FAVORITE way of mixing it up is to go out–but with kids, it’s too expensive, so we don’t get to do it as often.

i try to change things up each week with staple items that i can always go to when i’m too tired and then mix in new recipes here and there from various sources.

I WANT SUPPER!!! I usually turn on Food Network towards the end of the day and whatever they’re cookin’ is usually what I end up cooking…or some version of it. Unless it’s RR and then I turn the good ol’ blogs for inspiration. I am sure she is a nice gal, but her recipes aren’t my favorite (to cook).

Right now my mother in law is here (helping with our brand spanking new baby boy) using the slow cooker to its full potential. It’s amazing the dinners she’s managed to create and I’ll be sure to take it over once she’s gone.

(in fact, I should be making it right now.)
We mix it up by thinking of childhood favorites that we haven’t eaten in years. I also like to pull out a cookbook I haven’t used in awhile and force myself to choose a recipe from a certain section–I find lots of new favorites that way. :)

I like to mix it up by planning dinners with other couples. If they come to our place, they bring a dish and if we go there, we bring one. It’s a great way to eat new dishes and get new recipes. Plus, it’s always nice when you go there; then there’s no clean up. :)
Robin C. says
I want supper!! I decide what to cook about 1 hour before dinner each night – I want to be more organized about it – but so far haven’t managed to get it together.
Tracie P says

My favorite is to make anything my mom used to make- pot pie, lasagna, chicken and noodles… Of course these all take a little longer but they’re totally worth it!

I WANT SUPPER!!!
I love your site. It’s very inspiring and educational.
I come to the site at least once every day.
Anyway,
I try to make something new by looking up the recipes online or magazines. I’m Japanese so I try to mix things up a bit by making my favorite dishes from my childhood.
Also I’m into a pressure cooker right now (got it for Christmas last year). It’s amazing how tender meat gets after mere 8 minutes! Also the steaming part is so much fun to watch – it’s like magic. I love how quickly I can prepare dinner with it: cut, dump and close the lid – done.
Can’t get better than that with 2 kids screaming in the background “MOMMMMYYYY!”
