If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.
YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.
We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:
And now for this week’s giveaway deets:
- PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I love mixing things up by going to both of my grandmothers’ for dinner. One is Italian and the other is southern so I get the best of both worlds! Yummy! :)

I look through the local store flyers and see what’s on sale, then go to the food network or epicurious and search for recipies using that item. Sometimes I hit up a few stores when there are really good deals, but that’s only when I am feeling really motivated.
We also recently had a recession potluck where each person had to bring a part of the meal where the cost was under $5, lots of fun!

The crock pot is the best way to mix up our family dinner menu… especially in the winter. It’s so easy and low-maintenance.

We mix it up in our house by doing breakfast for dinner (pancakes, eggs, sausage)…and I’m kinda embarrassed to admit to cereal for dinner on occassion.
I’m heading over to sign up for the weekly e-mail. Thanks!

I have to admit that I don’t cook near as often as I used to because my Mom owns a local cafe. And since I LOVE Mom’s cooking sooooo much, we try to eat there as often as we can…and the best part is….it is FREE! Don’t get me wrong though….the extra moola for grub would be awesome!

I LOVE MY CROCKPOT!! Nothing beat coming home from a long day of work (and a hour and half commute) to have supper for me and my hunni all ready!
Great for roasts and spaghetti and meatballs!!

While we do often indulge in the breakfast for dinner, we (meaning me) also like to have the smorgasbord (sp?) where we take out all our leftovers and eat everything family style. It solves the problem in which I can only cook for an army, but we only have a family of 3 (one of whom is only 2.5 years old and a teeny-tiny stomach).

I WANT SUPPER!!! I’m lucky because my husband is the Chef in our house and he creates all sorts of dreamy dinners for us to enjoy. My fav is to bake a tasty desert for us AND I’ve even found some yummy doggie treat recipes that I LOVE LOVE to indulge our pups with!

I love the classic breakfast-for-dinner, but I also love making a huge pot of soup on Sunday and eating it all week. LOVE soup, and never get tired of it!

I am pretty boring when it comes to my repertoire during the week. I love to cook and try new recipes, but I usually reserve that ambition for the weekend.
One way that I do occasionally mix it up, however, is by making savory pan sauces with the drippings from sauteeing whatever protein is on the agenda for that night. I use whatever is on hand in addition to the staples (chicken stock, lemon zest, and fresh garlic that I grate with a microplane) and the flavor is always different and [usually] yummy.

I love to make big meals and put half in the freezer. Enchiladas, stuffed peppers, lasagna — the options are endless! It always makes me happy to pull a homemade meal out of the freezer when I’m tired after work.

Best mix-er upper at my house is when we play Iron Chef and pick a secret ingredient and each person needs to make up a dish using said item. Sometimes a lot of work but really fun.

I want supper!!!! My hubby much prefers grocery shopping than me (although we always end up with way more things than we needed). We typically go online and see what’s on sale, and plan our meals accordingly. Some weeks we eat better than others :-)

I love allrecipes.com for great recipes, and the best part, all those reviews from people who have tried it before! We get together every other month or so with a few couples from church for a “Supper Club.” We used to go out to a restaurant and then alternate the next month by having a potluck at someone’s house. Now since we all have kids about the same age, we just gather at someone’s house. It’s an event we all enjoy!

I WANT SUPPER….. great giveaway! This would help me immensely. Mainly because I hate thinking of what to cook and making a list. The way I “mix things up” for supper is by getting out a box of cereal and not thinking to hard about it :) HA. Can’t wait to check this site out. Thanks.

Breakfast crepes for dinner is my favourite way to mix it up at dinner time, and Nutella on them is a must! The lastest tasty variation we came up with was Nutella and bacon on a crepe. You may be skeptical, but it is tastier than it sounds!

In our household my husband does the cooking and I do the grocery shopping. One way we make the week easier is cooking a big meal on the weekend and freezing the leftovers to use during the week. Makes things real easy on a work night when all you have to do is heat and serve!

I mix things up by rolling over meals…Fajitas one night becomes Tortilla Soup the next…I freeze the leftover broth to use the next time I am making anything with a Mexican flare to it. I try hard not to waste and that usually requires some creativity!

Best way to mix up dinner – pic up a magazine and get inspired by a new recipe. Or try to recreate a fav restaurant meal….I made thai coconut soup once….a little tough so I won’t be buying fresh lemon grass again anytime soon…but very tasty!

We do TONS of breakfast for dinner… any form of eggs (omelets, scrambled), pancakes, waffles (make a double batch and freeze the rest for later), sausage (love Costco’s chicken sausages), turkey bacon… (okay, got a little excited there).
Oh, and John – we watched National Treasure last night too and couldn’t believe you hadn’t seen it before now… you must now run (don’t walk) to find a way to National Treasure II.

I WANT SUPPER!! : )
My favorite way to mix things up for dinner is my hubs and I used to take turns cooking once a week, finding something completely new to fix for the other. It was great because it got us looking through all of our recipe books to find new recipes we liked and get out of our usual comfort zone more. However, hubs is finishing his PhD and rarely makes it home for dinner right now, hope to pick it back up in 2010! : ) Definitely going to check out You’ve Got Supper!!!
