If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.
YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.
We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:
And now for this week’s giveaway deets:
- PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I WANT SUPPER!
I love perusing recipe books more than actually doing the cooking. :) So I like to pick out something new and unusual to try, then ask my hubby to pretty please make it for me. He’s pretty great like that.

Sometimes if I’m hungry, want something quick, but don’t want to make anything I make a shake with frozen organic berries, frozen banana, yogurt, ground flax seed, hemp protein powder, and honey. It’s quick and satisfying. Although now with winter coming I will probably stock the freezer with homemade veggie chili and soups to pull out as quick meals.

I am not really the chef in the house, that would be my husband. But I would love to learn some recipes and suprise him with a dinner once in awhile.

I Want Supper! I can’t wait to get cooking in my own kitchen again after a year and a half of renovations! I like to try new recipes that get good reviews on epicurious.com and the Food Network.

My sister-in-laws and I plan to spend a day together and cook all day. We will each bring enough ingredients to make our favorite soup and our favorite main course. By the end of the day we have each made three different soups and three different main course. Finally, we will package them all up and freeze them. Pulling a ready-made dinner out of the freezer and adding a simple produce is the perfect end to a busy day!

We subscribe to community supported agriculture and receive a box of fresh produce every week. It comes with recipe ideas too! We get inspired by fresh ingredients and create yummy dishes for each other, sometimes following the recipe and other times not.

I love to cook, but am single so dinner is often whatever I can throw together. Trying to eat more healthily so lately it is a pan of roasted vegetables or soup. And I do love breakfast for dinner – eggs, biscuits and fruit – yum.

We mix it up often due to the fact that I am the QUEEN of using what ever is in the fridge/freezer in a creative (and usually tasty) way. As much as I love using recipes…I’m terrible at planning an entire week’s menu and sticking to the plan. So… we usually just buy the staples and whatever else looks good at the grocery store, and my husband and I enjoy one of a kind dinners all week long ;)

So weird, last week when you guys asked us to tell you our favorite iphone app or come up with one that we would like this is exactly what I said…little did I know that there was already a website that did it for you…I should have guessed! Thanks for filling us in. I’m super excited to try it!
My favorite way to mix things up…I don’t think I have one. We’ve been so busy lately that there hasn’t been much “mixing” going on. I guess it would have to be going to my parent’s house for dinner. They have the most amazing food, drinks, and dessert…my mom could have been Martha Stewart, she’s amazing. It makes me feel like i’m on vacation and being catered to when we eat dinner at their house, love it!

I realllllly enjoy cooking so each week I mix dinner up by finding new (and usually ethnic) recipes. So maybe I mix it up by making homey dishes like Albondigas soup, which reminds me of my grandma in Mexico.

Around here, with a toddler, we have some old-standbys that make it into the rotation just about every week — turkey tacos, grilled chicken, etc. I have been inspired to experiment more in the kitchen now that the remodel is almost done — just painting left!!
