If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.
YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.
We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:
And now for this week’s giveaway deets:
- PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I WANT SUPPER” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us your favorite way to mix things up for dinner. Is it the classic breakfast for dinner? Or maybe a recipe swap with the neighbors. Or, our favorite, going over someone else’s house so they do the cooking.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

we had to downsize from our dream house that we lived in for sixteen years and had completely redone, (my husband called it our 16 year fix and flip) anyway i didn’t think it would rip out a piece of my heart when we moved, but it did! we are now trying to make our new quaint little house into our home, my kitchen has been revamped a little and is better but still not there yet, to make a long story short, i haven’t really cooked for about a year and a half the moral to my story is it is very enjoyable to cook anything in a kitchen that makes you feel good and extreamly hard to cook in a kitchen that does not. so the best way for me to spice things up is finish my kitchen

Whenever I’m in the need of mixing it up, I’ll search for recipes on real simple’s website as they always prove to turn out delish! Really though, the true “mix up” happens whenever my boyfriend surprises me with a homemade meal (or carry out) without my asking for help beforehand…RARE ;)

To change things up me and my hubby head over to my parents house, which happens to be right down the street, and eat with them! Nothing like a home-cooked meal from your ma! And of course we get some good family time in :o)

I like to make a big meal on Sunday (chili, roasts, etc) and then have it a couple different ways during the week. This way a lot of the cooking is done for the beginning of the week and by mixing it up it isn’t as mundane.

I love when time allows us to make “fancy dinners” Mid week. Me and my husband (to be) sit down at the dining room table, light a few candles…and have a gourmet dinner at home…on a Tuesday!
**this is extremely rare but so wonderful!

I like to throw a vegetarian meal in the mix every few weeks. We aren’t big meat eaters, but it is fun to find new/different meatless meals and see how they taste.

I want supper! On weekends I pray that one of my friends will invite my family over for dinner, so that I don’t have to cook…I, of course, offer to bring wine and beer. Otherwise I peruse Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food magazine, or some random website, so “you’ve got supper” sounds like a geat site for me to check out. Thanks for the suggestion.

oooooooohhhhhhhhhhh. I WANT SUPPER!!!!
when we want to mix things up i usually let the kids help-Riley, age 5, picks out music on the computer to “rock out” to which usually (and right now)includes tons of Misfits, hip-hop, flogging molly, and lots of serious seriuos ROCKING OUT ROCK-N-ROLL!!! and then my daughter Rowan, age 3, helps me measure&mix&pour everything. in her words she is “Little Chef” and i am “Big Chef.”
i know it doesn’t sound crazy but trust me, when you have a very capable and coordinated 5yr old boy running around and throwing massive karati kicks and punches in mid-air and flips all over the living room and dining room BLASTING heavy metal and rock music and then throw in a 3yr old girl who is such “a big helper” and literally has her hands in EVERY SINGLE spice and bowl and spoon in the kitchen…it becomes a very original and fun way to do dinner even when i don’t feel like making dinner at all…
………..if only there was a cleanup crew………

I WANT SUPPER! I love to try recipes from Cooking Light and/or Web sites like Epicurious, MyRecipes.com, AllRecipes.com, etc. Also, I do all my grocery shopping online (FreshDirect.com), and they now have recipes that are clickable and linked to that week’s specials, so that you can easily figure out what to do with that spaghetti squash, basil and parmesan… The recipes also allow you to add all ingredients to your basket with one click… so much easier than dragging a cookbook to the grocery store, or copying down a recipe beforehand….

Most Sunday afternoons we cook a pot of black beans as the base for several meals throughout the coming week. Mix with traditional salsa, plop on a tortilla with chicken strips and a dollop of sour cream for a main dish. Another day for lunch it will be a side of black beans with peach/mango salsa to accompany grilled salmon. Black beans are my secret to success.

I WANT (TO COOK) SUPPER!
I absolutely love to cook and my Google Reader is absolutely stuffed with food blogs (among others, obviously…). I am constantly tagging new recipes and try out new meals all of the time. I do some improvising and add my own touches to the recipes and then find whoever I can (roommate, boyfriend, friends, family) to critique! It makes a fun night and a free round courtesy of YGS would be seriously appreciated – by all of us!
