If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.
YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.
We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:

I’ve got a binder where I keep all my favorite recipes I’ve printed from the internet and in the front is an index of my favorite dinners (an also which cookbooks they come out of and the page). It’s a great quick reference for my weekly meal planning and keeps us eating a good variety.

I just ordered a new cook book by Tal Ronnen, a chef I watched make some delicious vegan dishes on Oprah. I’m not vegan, so these recipes will definitely mix it up in my kitchen.

I like to mix it up for supper by WHERE we eat supper in our house. Most of the time we are at the table, but on fun nights we’ll eat in bed and watch a movie, or eat outside, or pack it up and go to the park.

I use allrecipes.com a lot. If I am out of ideas, I just put in some of the ingredients I have and the website gives me back recipes. It’s been great and has stretched my imagination many times. :)

My favorite way to get the food recently has been to join my friend Juli at her monthly Egg Day brunch project (blog at eggday.blogspot.com)which was started as a happiness project after an idea on another blog (www.happiness-project.com) Nothing like combining great food—mmm, sausage gravy–with blogs!

I WANT SUPPER!
What an awesome (and adorably designed) dinner website! I love anything that makes my life easier. Since I haven’t been feeling the greatest lately, I haven’t officially “cooked” in like a month. But now that i’m in my 2nd trimester, I’m ready to step up again!
My favorite way to mix things up for dinner? Honestly, it’s when my husband cooks. :)

My favorite way to mix it up is to make something predictable but then add a little something extra and gourmet, which I can easily pick up at Zabar’s (miraculously 1 block away) or Fairway. Or find whatever is on sale and work around that. The trouble is now I can never go back to the usual! The special stuff is so tasty :)

I love to try new recipes, whether they are from cookbooks, websites or even my mom. It keeps meals interesting and I love the variety.

We’ll pick one ingredient (usually something from the freezer) and then dig through our cookbooks to find a new recipe using that ingredient, and if possible, only other ingredients that we already have on hand. Helps us try new recipes, and eat out of the pantry a little more.

I WANT SUPPER!
Really, I do! I’m the worst at planning it. Procrastination leads to lots of burritos, cereal and eggs. Not necessarily in that order.

I like to have a “fun food night” once a week. It can mean anything from grilling out hotdogs, having BLTs, or apple pie as the main course. The kids love it and it keeps my menus interesting.

I WANT SUPPER….for a quick and easy dinner, I take any vegetables in the fridge, slice them up and make a quick stirfry to top some buckwheat asian noodles. Quick, easy, yummy and gives you your servings of veggies for the day!

I love to mix things up by altering baking recipes. Once I added tomato sauce to Ghiradelli brownies to give them a little extra zing. They became too runny so I thickened them up with Benefiber. Everyone complimented me on my Benefiber Brownies and I didn’t have the heart to tell them to “eat up and stay regular”.
Danyelle Connors says
“I want supper” PLEASE (we can’t forget our manners)
anything quick and easy that tastes good. I can’t seem to chop a veggie before the kids are at my feet crying.

I’m lucky to have a partner who cooks fabulous meals. So for me, doing the cooking instead of clean up counts as mixing it up.

I WANT SUPPER!! (please!)
When I’m feeling lazy my go-to meal is a big plate of nachos! Really bad for me, I know, but it’s my comfort food! But usually I keep it simple with some shrimp (with lemon, pepper, and olive oil), and broccoli, or salmon. Since my man’s not home on weeknights, I have to get my seafood fix in (he hates seafood!!)
