If you’re a busy mom like me – wait, let me start over. If you’re like me and hate grocery shopping, then this week’s giveaway is totally up your aisle. I’ve learned to enjoy cooking, but the chore of making a list, bleeding money at the grocery store and then coming home to find you’ve forgotten the cardamom still drives us to take-out more than we’d like. So imagine my delight when You’ve Got Supper entered our lives.
YGS was started by two busy moms right here in Richmond (holla) and basically does your weekly recipe planning AND grocery list making for you (double holla). Just sign up for their free weekly email for five easy recipe suggestions. Pick the ones you want to make (or add others from their archive) and YGS automatically generates a complete, printable shopping list for you. Basically, my lifesaver. And this week they’re giving away $100 in groceries to one of our lucky readers who just might need some lifesaving in the kitchen too.
We’ve been using them for a while now, and just last week we made three of their meals that we never tried before: Honey Chicken Kebabs, One-Pot Pork Tenderloin and Crispy Potatoes and Creamy Dreamy Mac and Cheese. Here’s that mac and cheese making Burger wish he were human:
And now for this week’s giveaway deets:
- PRIZE: $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice courtesy of You’ve Got Supper

- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the whole wide world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I WANT SUPPER
Oooh I’ve been in a dinner-making slump, so this giveaway is right up my alley!
My friends and I realized that the best way to have a stress-free evening is that when it’s your “turn” to have the other couple over for dinner, you supply EVERYTHING (appetizers, entree, and dessert) so that they don’t have to bring a single thing except their wonderful selves. It makes for a very lovely evening…unless it’s your day to cook! ;)

I WANT SUPPER! We like to find a new recipe each week to make so we can try something new, rather than making the same old recipes each week!

Having me cook dinner usually isn’t a good idea, when I *can* make a badass pasta w/vodka cream sauce. That always “mixes thing up” in my house, since I never do the cooking. :-)

I love it when my husband does the cooking…he likes to experiment with recipes and the food usually turns out fabulous! Last week, he made lemon chicken – yum!

I’m a weekend cook, that’s when the SO or the family is over. I love to cook Sunday dinner for the family. Something oven-roasted and served mid-afternoon on Sunday, that’s how we do :)
The rest of the week it’s cold cereal or whatever is fast, I hate cooking for just myself.

Okay, I call it dinner. Food in the evening, that’s what I want. I love my new kitchen so much that even dishes I’ve made 100 times are seeming fresh and new. My favorite way to mix it up is to combine ingredients that I’ve never combined before – I never use recipes, so it’s pretty easy to put in a little of this and a little of that.
Rachel says
I WANT SUPPER! I love cooking (when I can find the time..which is usually once or twice a week) & I love trying new recipes. I try something new almost everytime I cook…that’s how I change things up a little.

I WANT SUPPER!!! I like to make double batches and freeze the second half for quick dinners on busy nights when there’s zero time to cook. As long as I remember to move the entree from the freezer to the fridge before work, dinner time is easy breezy!

I open the fridge or pantry and kind of let the stuff talk to me. Like the kid in the Sixth Sense, only with produce.
Awesome Easy Great Biscuit Recipe:
2 cups AP flour
2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
All mixed up in a big bowl. Add:
1/3 cup cold butter that’s been cut into tiny cubes (Do this before you start putting together the other ingredients and pop it in the freezer.)
Cut the butter cubes into the flour mix. Do this for a long time. Seriously, this is what makes biscuits delicious. Do it until it’s not recognizable as two different ingredients, just as a homogenous mass of buttery crumbles. Add:
7/8 cup cold milk (Just underfill a 1-cup measure.)
Mix in the milk JUST until dough comes together.
Plop it down onto a well-floured surface, knead lightly for 20 seconds, flatten it to 3/4″ thick, use an upside-down, flour-rimmed water glass (or a biscuit cutter if you’re like that) to cut into probably 8 biscuits total.
Put them into a pie dish and brush the tops with melted butter. 13-14 minutes at 475 degrees and you’ll be happy (and maybe a little bit more popular).

I want supper! This is great. I’ve had recipes sent to me before, but never with a shopping list. Beats searching for recipes any day! Plus, the store your favorites will be nice! I could use some help getting out of our dinner rut!
Our favorite way to mix it up is with Fend for Yourself Fridays. Even my 4 year old and 2 year old know what it is — it’s the night the kids can pick what they want (normally PB&J or cereal) and mom and dad pick what we want. Bottom line is: Momma’s not cookin’!

My favorite way to mix it up for dinner is to look up a recipe online that sounds similar to a favorite restaurant dish. Just last night, Paul made Green Curry Chicken over rice, only we substituted some frozen tilapia for the chicken, and it was SO AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. No lie. And not too difficult! Altho it did require some ingredient-hunting. Favorite trick #2 is using leftovers as an ingredient in a new dish, like thinning out the sloppy joe with some extra tomato sauce and using it as a meat sauce over pasta.
