- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M BOLD!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about something bold or brave you’ve done. Have you gone skydiving? Did you chop all of your hair off just because you felt like it? Or did you confess your love to an unsuspecting friend?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, February 2nd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Last summer I quit my nicely paying job (in which I got to work comfortably from home) to take on an unpaid internship at a non-profit that better aligned with my goals and interests. A few months later it turned into a paid consultant position, and as of tomorrow I will be officially a full time employee! It pays to be bold!

Probably the boldest thing I’ve done is cliff jumping in Venezuela when I was a teenager – about 45 feet off a cliff into a small swimming hole. I don’t think I could do that anymore.

I’m BOLD! After I graduated college, I accepted a plane ticket from a guy I had just met and had been talking to on the phone/email for only a short while. He was studying in Vienna, Austria, and I flew to go see him for a week. Now that I’m married (to someone else) with two girls of my own, I’d classify that as “stupid” or “dangerous” rather than bold.

I’M BOLD!
But not really. I’m actually quite shy.

I’M BOLD!!
When I was in high school, I heard that the symphony was holding open auditions, so I screwed up my courage and decided to try out. That meant driving out to an unfamiliar place after dark and playing for a bunch of strangers, which was pretty darn intimidating to 17-year-old me! Afterward, I felt so exhilarated that I’d gone and done it AND felt happy with my performance, regardless of the outcome. But I guess it went pretty well, because I made it as an alternate!

I’M BOLD!
Two summers ago ny mother, my then four-year-old daughter and I said a sweet goodbye to our husbands, jumped in the car and took off on a cross-country road trip with just one rule: no major highways! Two-lane roads or less! We traveled south along the east coast, turned right at Florida and kept on going along the coast. So. Awesome. Took more than two weeks to get to Arizona (where my sister is) and then when we returned to the east coast, we went through the middle of the country, being sure to hit Route 66 and stop at any cool, off-the-beaten-path place we saw. 23 states later and a bazillion memories made.
That, and I finally got my tree-of-life tattoo. While it didn’t seem so crazy to me (I always thought I’d get one at some point) many people thought it was bold for me.
Now, pretty please can I win? ;)

I’m BOLD! I quit my comfortable job to start my own small business. Best decision ever! And I cut all of my hair off, it was less than an inch long at it’s longest strand, without telling my then boyfriend (now husband) that I was doing it, it was a real shock for him! It’s all grown back now, but it felt very good to do something so drastic.
