Thanks to random.org’s very arbitrary matchmaking skills, our winner is… Lawren (whose favorite wedding moment was when her cousin’s pocketed dress stored tissues to hand the groom when he teared up during the vows). Congrats!
Hope everyone’s having an awesome Fourth of July. We’re enjoying some family time but wanted to drop in with this week’s giveaway, so here ya go. Thursday marks our 4th wedding anniversary, which typically would make this “Wedding Week” around here. But since there’s not much left of that dead horse to beat (we’ve already shared every last detail about our wedding, honeymoon, traditions, how we met, how we got engaged, and our favorite meaningful momentos), we’re gonna go light on the theme this time around. Don’t get me wrong, the last year has been awesome and we’re planning something sweet to celebrate the beginning of year five (nothing big, but we’ll share whatever we end up doing). Feel free to take a trip down memory lane by checking out a recap of our $4,000 DIY backyard ceremony or browsing old Wedding Week posts from the last three years if you’re feeling sentimental though.
And since this turned into sort of a “Not” Wedding Week, we figured it was the perfect time to do a giveaway with The Not Wedding. They’re a self-described “killer alternative to a bridal show” where you attend a mock ceremony, sit down dinner, and dance-filled reception all in the name of having fun and checking out vendors. Basically you get to experience music, food, cake (mmmm cake) and other wedding must haves in a real-ish wedding setting. This year’s “big day” is on July 21st and two tickets (which include dinner, drinks, and dessert) are up for grabs this week.
But knowing that not everyone can get to Georgia on two weeks notice, The Not Wedding is also hooking the winner up with a $150 gift card to their registry sponsor Bloomingdale’s. Plus, you’ll win a pearl bridal bracelet and hair flower fascinator (in white or ivory) from their accessory sponsor (Fine & Fleurie). Which adds up to over $300 of wedding-tastic swag. Or should I say not wedding-tastic swag? Hmm. Either way… score.
- PRIZE: Two tickets to The Not Wedding, a $150 Bloomingdales gift card, plus a bracelet & hair flower from Fine & Fleurie
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “NOT ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us your favorite part about a wedding that was NOT yours. Did a particular family member have an especially touching ceremony? Did your best friend cry or laugh at your killer toast? Maybe your college friend simultaneously had you drooling over her location, dress, and decor? Or – be honest – is it just the time your work friend had an awesome open bar?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 6th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked to host this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from The Not Wedding, Bloomingdales and Fine & Fleurie.

Favourite part of a wedding that was not mine…has to be all of the sentimental qualities my best friend incorporated into their wedding, from writing their own vows (which were similar without them knowing) to specializing the reception meal to be authentic thai, their favourite and a travel destination of theirs. It was so sweet it made my teeth ache in a GOOD way!!

My favorite wedding memory is last July, when my hubbie and I got married over here in Germany. We incorporated the Indian ritual of the seven steps, where the couple takes seven steps together, but instead of a priest our closest family members read the seven promises that we made to each other.

NOT ME!! One of my favorite weddings was a best friend from college whose family is off-the-boat Italian. I have never eaten that much in my entire life. The sit down meal had 7 courses and had we known how amazing the dessert show would be we would have saved more room! It was hysterical and delicious.

My fav memory from my cousin’s wedding was partying with family I haven’t seen in ages- after a few martinis and shots, everyone was twirling around the dance floor, singing to “Don’t Stop Believing!”

NOT ME!! My favorite wedding moment was at a friend’s wedding where they had a photo booth with props and all of the older people were having the time of their lives taking pictures in it. It’s always nice to see them having fun, too, and not just the young uns!

My favorite wedding memory is from a friends wedding in which the groom surprised the bride with an incredible performance of their song, he rocked out and had EVERYONE out on the dance floor. It was incredible, you could truly feel the love!

My favorite wedding scene was at my cousin Kendra’s wedding (I was about thirteen) when my great-aunt, a truly fearsome woman, got up and and made her toast. She announced to the entire family that Kendra was the only one she had ever liked. And then lit the table on fire.

Not me! Congratulations 7-7! I bet you love my e-mail address. My daughter was born on 7-7-00, so your special day is extremely special to us as well! My favorite wedding memory was my best friend’s wedding video, she made it home after being deployed in the national gaurd to Iraq. Their video was so special and the photos of her in Iraq reinforced how lucky we were to have the opportunity to share her special day!

My favorite wedding moment ever is the way the groom’s eyes light up when he sees the bride and when they walk back down the aisle. Maybe He’s not grinning ear to ear like the bride, but he’s just as excited. :)

My favorite part of the last wedding i went to (daughter’s childhood friend) was the cake. I only knew about 5 people there and they were much younger and hanging with other guests, so I was free to wander around and observe flowers, people, etc. AND – the best part – they cut the cake and then servers would place cake at every table setting, even though by then everyone was up and mingling. So after the first piece of cake, which was quite tasty, I happened by another table with a different flavor. So I sat down and tried it. Fueled by the champagne toasts, I table hopped, chatted with ‘new friends’ and ate all the cake I wanted. It was AWESOME! hahaha

My favorite part of a recent wedding was a memorable pebble-tossing ceremony after a beach wedding. The beach was covered with small, sea-polished stones, which the bride and groom asked the guests to toss into the ocean along with a wish for them.

At our cousins wedding last week they made a point to include a few songs (sung by the family) in the ceremony. It was all very touching and heart felt to see my Father in Law singing about love and faithfulness (Daniel’s family is very musical).

My brother and sis-in-law had the cutest centerpieces at their wedding: ball jars with strawberry plants planted at the tops, each jar sitting on top of a thin round of wood-cut from a whole log by my brother with a chainsaw.
But the best part is that, three and a half years later, my three year old nephew is harvesting the strawberries in the garden- from the plants that graced the tables at his parent’s wedding!

My favorite part at my friend’s wedding was they didn’t accept gifts. The guests made a donation to the couple’s favorite charities.

My fav part of any wedding is watching the groom’s face as his bride walks down the aisle to join him.
Allison says
NOT ME! I love the trend of making a donation in lieu of favors for each guest. At the last wedding I attended, the guests got to choose one of three charities that are dear to the couple.

My favorite thing about a wedding is the dress. And the flowers. And the ring. And the dancing. but MOSTLY… I love the champagne!
My dear friend Lindsay had themed cocktails, and one called the Blushing Bride, which was a touch of cranberry in a glass of champagne and it was to die.

My favorite part of any wedding- is when the bride and groom speak their vows. It’s always so touching. I always wonder how people go from that to the 50% divorce rate.

My favorite wedding detail was my cousin bought flip-flops for ALL the guests so they could slip off their dress shoes and dance!

I loved the Candy Bar at a friend’s wedding. the setup of apothecary jars filled with beautiful colors of candy on a pretty table is just a lovely idea.

“NOT ME!” My favorite part of a wedding was when the bride placed a rose in a chair after walking down the aisle in honor of her mother that recently passed away of breast cancer. It was so touching and sweet. I remembered thinking how difficult that must have been. Years later I was faced with the same thing after my mom passed away of cancer. I honored her by wearing her locket with a picture of her around my bouquet.

My favourite part of a wedding was when my uncle remarried a few years ago. His two sons are around ten years older than me and both have children of their own who ranged from 2 to 10 during the wedding. It was so much fun to meet them and play silly games like hide and seek despite the fact I was in my twenties and dolled up, running around in four inch heels!!

Hmnn – my bff’s daughter got married and they had the anniversary dance – and the last people on the floor were my mom and dad. It was a special moment. They knew the bride since she was a baby. There was a great picture taken of she and her new hubby and my parents.

My favorite part of a wedding was my best friend’s wedding this past May. The bride, her mom, & her fiance made thousands of origami birds to put behind where the ceremony took place. It made the ceremony so special & unique that they did that. Definitely the coolest thing I’ve ever seen @ a wedding!

Not me! My favorite wedding that wasn’t mine was my grandmother’s. She got remarried a few years after my grandfather passed away, and it was wonderful to see that she got a second chance at love (at the age of 75).
