Thanks to random.org’s very arbitrary matchmaking skills, our winner is… Lawren (whose favorite wedding moment was when her cousin’s pocketed dress stored tissues to hand the groom when he teared up during the vows). Congrats!
Hope everyone’s having an awesome Fourth of July. We’re enjoying some family time but wanted to drop in with this week’s giveaway, so here ya go. Thursday marks our 4th wedding anniversary, which typically would make this “Wedding Week” around here. But since there’s not much left of that dead horse to beat (we’ve already shared every last detail about our wedding, honeymoon, traditions, how we met, how we got engaged, and our favorite meaningful momentos), we’re gonna go light on the theme this time around. Don’t get me wrong, the last year has been awesome and we’re planning something sweet to celebrate the beginning of year five (nothing big, but we’ll share whatever we end up doing). Feel free to take a trip down memory lane by checking out a recap of our $4,000 DIY backyard ceremony or browsing old Wedding Week posts from the last three years if you’re feeling sentimental though.
And since this turned into sort of a “Not” Wedding Week, we figured it was the perfect time to do a giveaway with The Not Wedding. They’re a self-described “killer alternative to a bridal show” where you attend a mock ceremony, sit down dinner, and dance-filled reception all in the name of having fun and checking out vendors. Basically you get to experience music, food, cake (mmmm cake) and other wedding must haves in a real-ish wedding setting. This year’s “big day” is on July 21st and two tickets (which include dinner, drinks, and dessert) are up for grabs this week.
But knowing that not everyone can get to Georgia on two weeks notice, The Not Wedding is also hooking the winner up with a $150 gift card to their registry sponsor Bloomingdale’s. Plus, you’ll win a pearl bridal bracelet and hair flower fascinator (in white or ivory) from their accessory sponsor (Fine & Fleurie). Which adds up to over $300 of wedding-tastic swag. Or should I say not wedding-tastic swag? Hmm. Either way… score.
- PRIZE: Two tickets to The Not Wedding, a $150 Bloomingdales gift card, plus a bracelet & hair flower from Fine & Fleurie
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “NOT ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us your favorite part about a wedding that was NOT yours. Did a particular family member have an especially touching ceremony? Did your best friend cry or laugh at your killer toast? Maybe your college friend simultaneously had you drooling over her location, dress, and decor? Or – be honest – is it just the time your work friend had an awesome open bar?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 6th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked to host this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from The Not Wedding, Bloomingdales and Fine & Fleurie.

At my sister’s wedding reception, her new husband belted out “Love Me Tender” and sounded just like Elvis! It was a huge hit! It was over a decade ago and people still talk about it.

I’ve actually never been to a wedding before but my best friend is getting married and I’m the maid of honor so winning this freebie would be fabulous because money is a little tight for me and I need to buy a dress. I’m already browsing the Bloomingdales site to find my favorite picks. I’d love to give her the bracelet and hair flower too. Thanks youngsters!

I still drool over the location of a friend’s wedding at her family’s summer house on the lake in Michigan… a beautiful twinkle-light-lit tent on a soft sand beach overlooking a beautiful lake… and they took off for their honeymoon in a motorboat!

Not me! I loved my friend’s wedding in Vegas- so fun and I don’t think a single guest was sober:)

One of my fave wedding moments was going to London for a beautiful country wedding for a dear friend. There were hats and lovely dresses and delicious food. Another is one of my bffs saved us from having to buy super expensive bridesmaid gowns by letting us wear David’s Bridal — since we all know we never wear these dresses again.

My fav special touch at a friend’s wedding was the DIY place cards. The bride and groom used facebook to find photos of at least one of them with every guest and made the photo into the guest’s place card. It’s the only place card I’ve saved from a wedding!

My favorite part of any wedding was at my 2002 wedding when aunts, uncles, cousins, parents and friends all joined in together in a Norwegian dance lesson by my friend Amy followed by the chicken dance, of course. We had a live Norwegian band of 80 year old players and it was truely awesome and surprisingly successful!

Not me!! The last wedding I went to was the second weekend in June and I had a wardrobe malfunction on the dance floor. One of the twins fell out!!

My favorite not mine wedding moment was giving a toast at the wedding of my best friend. I totally made everyone tear up!
One a side note, I really really need this! I am in the process of planning my wedding, or should I say NOT planning. I am the un-bride and I’m finding it really hard to get started planing. This would really help get my butt in gear AND I only live 3 hours from Atlanta!

My favorite part of any wedding was at one of my cousins’ – he began crying (in a good way!) as soon as he saw his bride walking down the aisle. He was so happy and it was just so sweet and moving.

Not me! My friend got married about 2 years ago, and had a gorgeous dress & location (beachfront). But the most awesome thing about her wedding was the photography. This girl here was officially jealous!

NOT ME!! Not yet at least!
I’d love to head up to GA for a “not wedding,” as I love all parts of them, but am especially reminded of a friend’s wedding where her fiance broke his leg the day before and was on crutches and a wheel-chair for the event. It was so sweet that all the groomsmen took turns dancing with the bride for the first dance since the groom could only hobble around for a few seconds!
Ceej says
NOT ME! My mom fainted at her wedding because she was pregnant with me and had forgotten to eat that morning in the rush. I wish there had been a videographer, but that wasn’t commonplace yet in the ’80s. Le sigh*
Paige says
My friends wedding in DE had the BEST ceasar salad I’ve ever had. That may sound like a lame response, but I’m about the most unhealthy eater you’ll meet, and I went back for thirds. it.was.that.good.

NOT ME! The best weddings I’ve ever seen have all been on TV. I love the dance parties people do going down the aisle. I also loved the wedding in the movie Bridesmaid where they played Hold On at the end. It was very cute. Hope that counts, thanks guys!

Favorite wedding moment: the Indian wedding I went to last summer. What an experience…I felt like I was at a royal event!! Not only were there at least 500 people there, but the flowers, decorations, and food made it the fanciest event I’ve ever been to!
Julie says
NOT ME!!!
My favorite part of any wedding that wasn’t my own was my friend’s wedding. Two us bridesmaids helped her in the bathroom by lifting her dress and all the layers underneath up. The funniest thing were all the “noises” coming from the stall next to us. We couldn’t stop laughing hysterically – just like little kids.

My favorite part of a wedding was at a close friends of mine wedding that her father had unexpectally died a short time before the wedding. Right before she walked down the ilse they played “She’ll always be my baby” and had a slide show of her and her father. It was so sweet and such a wonderful way to remember her father at her wedding. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the church. Some cried because they had lost a father and others just because it reminded them of the special bond between a father and his daughter.
