Thanks to random.org’s very arbitrary matchmaking skills, our winner is… Lawren (whose favorite wedding moment was when her cousin’s pocketed dress stored tissues to hand the groom when he teared up during the vows). Congrats!
Hope everyone’s having an awesome Fourth of July. We’re enjoying some family time but wanted to drop in with this week’s giveaway, so here ya go. Thursday marks our 4th wedding anniversary, which typically would make this “Wedding Week” around here. But since there’s not much left of that dead horse to beat (we’ve already shared every last detail about our wedding, honeymoon, traditions, how we met, how we got engaged, and our favorite meaningful momentos), we’re gonna go light on the theme this time around. Don’t get me wrong, the last year has been awesome and we’re planning something sweet to celebrate the beginning of year five (nothing big, but we’ll share whatever we end up doing). Feel free to take a trip down memory lane by checking out a recap of our $4,000 DIY backyard ceremony or browsing old Wedding Week posts from the last three years if you’re feeling sentimental though.
And since this turned into sort of a “Not” Wedding Week, we figured it was the perfect time to do a giveaway with The Not Wedding. They’re a self-described “killer alternative to a bridal show” where you attend a mock ceremony, sit down dinner, and dance-filled reception all in the name of having fun and checking out vendors. Basically you get to experience music, food, cake (mmmm cake) and other wedding must haves in a real-ish wedding setting. This year’s “big day” is on July 21st and two tickets (which include dinner, drinks, and dessert) are up for grabs this week.
But knowing that not everyone can get to Georgia on two weeks notice, The Not Wedding is also hooking the winner up with a $150 gift card to their registry sponsor Bloomingdale’s. Plus, you’ll win a pearl bridal bracelet and hair flower fascinator (in white or ivory) from their accessory sponsor (Fine & Fleurie). Which adds up to over $300 of wedding-tastic swag. Or should I say not wedding-tastic swag? Hmm. Either way… score.
- PRIZE: Two tickets to The Not Wedding, a $150 Bloomingdales gift card, plus a bracelet & hair flower from Fine & Fleurie
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “NOT ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us your favorite part about a wedding that was NOT yours. Did a particular family member have an especially touching ceremony? Did your best friend cry or laugh at your killer toast? Maybe your college friend simultaneously had you drooling over her location, dress, and decor? Or – be honest – is it just the time your work friend had an awesome open bar?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 6th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked to host this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from The Not Wedding, Bloomingdales and Fine & Fleurie.

One of my good friends got married in October and I was a bridesmaid. The church was the cutest thing I have ever seen. It had an aqua blue ceiling and tons of charm! I wish I could describe it better, but it was adorable!

A friend of mine had her reception in a historic theatre turned boutique hotel. It was fantastic!

Not me! My favorite wedding moment happened this past weekend. When the groom went to take the ring from the best man, the best man handed him a condom instead. Priceless look on the grooms face and hilarious moment for all us watching!

My favorite part of weddings is always the fun bridal parties introductions. It highlights each persons personalities.

Wow…reading pinterest this morning led me to your site. I have spent the last hour reading and delighting in it all. I especially loved the Craig’s list use. Recycling at its best.
Weddings…NOT ME! My favorite wedding happening…was at a friend of my daughter’s wedding. Instead of having a receiving line…the couple went pew by pew from the front back, greeting all those that they love. I got to sit, instead of waiting in a long line, and to enjoy their happiness as they oozed with love. It was amazing.

I am planning my wedding for next summer (07.21.12). I tried to get 07.07 – but you are right, that is a popular wedding date! And we don’t have a house so a backyard wedding is not an option.
Anyways, my favorite NOT ME wedding moment was my brothers wedding last fall in Mexico. It was the first time since we were kids that my entire extended family went on vacation together and it was so much fun. That and my brother married my awesome sister-in-law who I love :)

My favorite Wedding memory was seeing my best friend for the first time before she walked down the aisle. She never wears makeup or really fixes her hair, so seeing her all made up, looking beautiful on her wedding day, brought tears to my eyes!

My favourite wedding memory is from this past weekend when my sister got married. My sister and her husband have a one year old daughter and during one of the speeches at the reception the speaker was talking about her and she started talking back. So cute.
Amanda says
Not me! My favorite wedding was super small and intimate. It was obviously about nothing else than two people professing their love!
Claire says
NOT ME! Nothing brings tears to my eyes more than a best man who cries during his speech. Sweet :)
Angella says
Not Me! The last wedding we went to was outdoors on the beach, in August. The birds in the tree were so loud you couldn’t hear the vows. The couples entire wedding video is “BZZZ CHIRP CHIRP”!

My favorite wedding memory was my friend who wrote a song for her new hubby and sang it during the ceremony. It was really sweet.

Our family friends had a wonderfully funny out of control best men speech. It’s three brothers so the two best men at each wedding have tried to outdo themselves. The two eldest did the best job and I don’t think anyone can out shine it. I’ve never laughed that hard even at a comedy show!

My brother’s friends painted the letters HELP on the bottom of his shoes. When the couple knelt for the prayer, everyone read it. Cute joke, but as it turned out, he really did need help.

My brother and his wife got married late December in 2009 (in Ohio) It was an outside wedding, which in my opinion was a crazy plan because knowing Ohio we could have had a blizzard. Instead it was so warm outside! All the snow melted. They had a last minute change. The ladies in wedding party all went out and bought matching black with white polka dot rainboots. It turned out so cute with the dresses. Even the bride was sporting the cute fad.
btw, we share the same wedding date. My husband and I were also married on 07.07.07 :)

Not Me! My favorite wedding was my best friends. The look on her groom’s face when she walked down the isle made me a blubbering mess. My own husband was so confused because I hardly cried at our wedding!

NOT ME! My favorite part about weddings is when I’m NOT in them (as a bridesmaid) – I love to be able to REALLY enjoy the ceremony and reception without having to worry about my hair/makeup/dress, etc. and if I’ll look ridiculous crying in front of everyone as one of my best girlfriends ties the knot =)

I love watching 2 people so in love make a lifetime promise to each other in front of all their friends and families. One of my favorite weddings was my good friend, Rebecca’s, and they wrote their own beautiful vows.

NOT ME! The most important part of enjoying a wedding (for me) is simply spending time with family. Especially if I haven’t seen them in a while. I must also admit, I’m anal about the decor. I really appreciate when the couple gives it their extra special, personalized touch.
Amanda says
NOT Me! We had a great time with the photobooth at our friend’s wedding, and we got a fun picture to take home!

The first one of my childhood friends ‘to pull the trigger’ by far the best wedding. Mostly because it was ‘the first’ and we all enjoyed the open by like it was 1999. One for the record books for sure, no one has topped it since!

My favorite part about the last wedding I went to was the location (Savannah, Georgia), the food (shrimp and grits), but most of all seeing the father of the bride tear up as she walked down the aisle with her groom. I held it together through the entire ceremony, but when I say him cry I did too!

My favorie part of a wedding? Watching friends tie the knot and after the ceremony ride off into the sunset on horseback. Too cool!

My favorite wedding memory was my best friend’s “getaway” car at her wedding. She rode off in a beautiful vintage car with a very unique decoration. She and her husband are both teachers and they work at the same school. Her sweet little 2nd graders had made a drawing of the two of them, and they had it blown up and fastened it to the back of the car. So cute!

Not Me! My favorite wedding was the first wedding I attended with my then boyfriend, now husband. It was the first excuse I had to slow dance to a romantic song :)
