Thanks to random.org’s very arbitrary matchmaking skills, our winner is… Lawren (whose favorite wedding moment was when her cousin’s pocketed dress stored tissues to hand the groom when he teared up during the vows). Congrats!
Hope everyone’s having an awesome Fourth of July. We’re enjoying some family time but wanted to drop in with this week’s giveaway, so here ya go. Thursday marks our 4th wedding anniversary, which typically would make this “Wedding Week” around here. But since there’s not much left of that dead horse to beat (we’ve already shared every last detail about our wedding, honeymoon, traditions, how we met, how we got engaged, and our favorite meaningful momentos), we’re gonna go light on the theme this time around. Don’t get me wrong, the last year has been awesome and we’re planning something sweet to celebrate the beginning of year five (nothing big, but we’ll share whatever we end up doing). Feel free to take a trip down memory lane by checking out a recap of our $4,000 DIY backyard ceremony or browsing old Wedding Week posts from the last three years if you’re feeling sentimental though.
And since this turned into sort of a “Not” Wedding Week, we figured it was the perfect time to do a giveaway with The Not Wedding. They’re a self-described “killer alternative to a bridal show” where you attend a mock ceremony, sit down dinner, and dance-filled reception all in the name of having fun and checking out vendors. Basically you get to experience music, food, cake (mmmm cake) and other wedding must haves in a real-ish wedding setting. This year’s “big day” is on July 21st and two tickets (which include dinner, drinks, and dessert) are up for grabs this week.
But knowing that not everyone can get to Georgia on two weeks notice, The Not Wedding is also hooking the winner up with a $150 gift card to their registry sponsor Bloomingdale’s. Plus, you’ll win a pearl bridal bracelet and hair flower fascinator (in white or ivory) from their accessory sponsor (Fine & Fleurie). Which adds up to over $300 of wedding-tastic swag. Or should I say not wedding-tastic swag? Hmm. Either way… score.
- PRIZE: Two tickets to The Not Wedding, a $150 Bloomingdales gift card, plus a bracelet & hair flower from Fine & Fleurie
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “NOT ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us your favorite part about a wedding that was NOT yours. Did a particular family member have an especially touching ceremony? Did your best friend cry or laugh at your killer toast? Maybe your college friend simultaneously had you drooling over her location, dress, and decor? Or – be honest – is it just the time your work friend had an awesome open bar?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 6th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked to host this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from The Not Wedding, Bloomingdales and Fine & Fleurie.

My husband cried the whole time during our wedding ceremony. The pastor said that he never met any groom that’s more emotional than my husband. Yes I married a big cry baby. :)

NOT ME! – A few weekends ago, we attended the first wedding since our own (last May). It was so enjoyable to just sit back and relax, knowing we didn’t have any tasks or to-do’s other than have a good time :)

I love weddings and the toasts are one of my favorite part, and of course the food and open bar, with lots of dancing in the end :)

NOT ME! having planned a couple of weddings for friends, my favorite part of the wedding is the moment right before everything starts – everyone is so excited and happy. And that usually keeps going through the rest of the night. :)

My fav wedding so far was my bff Katie’s destination wedding on Orcas Island in the San Juan’s off the WA coast. It was small, relaxed, intimate, gorgeous & a total blast!

NOT ME! Favorite wedding was my brother’s – the fact that I was double fisting bottles of champagne might have something to do with that :)

I loved the casualness of my friend’s wedding. It was so lighthearted and everyone looked far more comfortable in their clothes than at our wedding.

NOT ME! My best friend’s limo got into an accident and we had to take a stretch hummer — so not her — but she took it like a pro and it was my fave part of her wedding day.

My favorite wedding memory occurred a few weeks ago at a friend’s wedding. The bride’s mother is a florist and they went all out on the decor… on top of the wedding & reception being in a historic barn. It made for an amazingly peaceful fairytale evening.

Weddings in general are so much fun! I’ve been to several that were super laid back, and that’s the best! But the hands down winner was at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC. Very small, beautiful setting and a very unpretentious bride and groom which made for the best night!

My favorite wedding memory had to be at my best friends wedding. The best man was drunk during his toast to the bride and groom. He kept dropping the f-bomb and other not so wedding friendly words.

NOT ME! I have a friend who did a photobooth at her wedding, complete with goofy glasses and other accessories. That was a great way to get pics of everyone who attended.

my own wedding is coming up this fall (4 months away today!)but my favorite memory was being a flower girl in my aunts wedding and i had a dress with a hoop skirt. We were in the limo, (i was 4 mind you and not used to being without a seat belt) and the limo stopped short and i fell forward and my hoop skirt flipped up over my head exposing my frilly undies to the whole wedding party. they all laughed, but i think i cried i was so embarrassed.

I went to a wedding a few years ago where the minister said the couple was going to recite the traditional vows, in hopes that everyone in the church could think back to their own weddings, and remember what it’s like to commit to another person with those same words. I am not sure why I liked that simple comment so very much. It really stuck with me. If I werent eloping I would use the same comment in my own ceremony;)

My favorite wedding memory/find is my best friend. I was her maid of honor 2 years ago, and she let us bridesmaids pick out black floor-length dresses in whatever design we wanted. I ended up with this absolutely swank backless black number that I have reworn twice already, and plan to again. I could walk the red carpet at the oscars with this number!

My favorite wedding was held at a science center. During The reception, everyone was able to walk around and play with all the different displays. It was pretty cool.

I still drool over my husband’s cousin’s wedding. It was in an old Catholic church in downtown Cincinnati that had been gutted and turned into a bell museum. It was BEAUTIFUL! After the ceremony we moved outside to a courtyard for drinks and then back inside where they “redesigned” the interior for the reception. I was in L-O-V-E!

NOT ME! One of my fav wedding memories is being in a weeding with my sister when we were both very you. My sister was a flower girl and she almost stopped the wedding because she insisted on giving a flower to the photographer, who was not having it!

My cousin is an event planner, so when she got married it was quite the event. We get a five course meal, open bar (at the time I was underaged but they didn’t card me and I got to sneak some wine), and a group of South American drummers led us into the reception. It was pretty cool.
J says
NOT ME! I adored the toast section of my friend’s rehearsal dinner. She opened up the mic to everyone and people gave the most wonderful touching tributes to the bride and groom. I want to replicate that!

My favorite part of any wedding was at my old tennis coach’s wedding. Instead of the traditional bouquet toss, she had six dozen gerber daisies with little tags on them that had wishes on them. No body knew it wasn’t her bouquet so when she tossed them, they scattered all over the floor for everyone to pick up three or four. It was a great idea and no one felt “left out” of catching that bouquet.

NOT ME….my cousin Alissa got married in a very swanky 7th floor location connected to a beautiful hotel. The venue was very posh, had a great balcony overlooking the city (Columbus), and a great open bar. Our wedding is at the end of the month and it will be wonderful, just not as fancy. :)

My favorite wedding memory was the ceramony I attended that was held on a beach in NC. The bride wore a wedding dress but it was casual attire, and their dog was part of the wedding party:)It was a perfect day & there wasn’t any complaining from my at the time 10 year old who got to boogie board right after the ceramony :)
And when your husband gets to wear shorts instead of a suit, there’s a smile on his face too.
We made it a mini vacation & had a blast.

I need all the help I can get with wedding planning…!
My favourite part of a wedding was one that I was in a couple of years ago. Three out of four groomsmen were not able to attend the wedding (the groom is from the UK and the wedding was pretty short notice) so to balance things out there was an array of small dogs in tuxedos. They all sat, they all held their peace (and their toys) and a good time was had by all.

Not me! My fiance just got engaged on 7/1/11 :)
One of my favorite wedding moments was when the couple surprised the guests at the outdoor ceremony by stating they had actually been married the day before in a Catholic church with only immediate family members and the outdoor ceremony was a renewal of their vows in front of all their family and friends.
