Thanks to random.org’s very arbitrary matchmaking skills, our winner is… Lawren (whose favorite wedding moment was when her cousin’s pocketed dress stored tissues to hand the groom when he teared up during the vows). Congrats!
Hope everyone’s having an awesome Fourth of July. We’re enjoying some family time but wanted to drop in with this week’s giveaway, so here ya go. Thursday marks our 4th wedding anniversary, which typically would make this “Wedding Week” around here. But since there’s not much left of that dead horse to beat (we’ve already shared every last detail about our wedding, honeymoon, traditions, how we met, how we got engaged, and our favorite meaningful momentos), we’re gonna go light on the theme this time around. Don’t get me wrong, the last year has been awesome and we’re planning something sweet to celebrate the beginning of year five (nothing big, but we’ll share whatever we end up doing). Feel free to take a trip down memory lane by checking out a recap of our $4,000 DIY backyard ceremony or browsing old Wedding Week posts from the last three years if you’re feeling sentimental though.
And since this turned into sort of a “Not” Wedding Week, we figured it was the perfect time to do a giveaway with The Not Wedding. They’re a self-described “killer alternative to a bridal show” where you attend a mock ceremony, sit down dinner, and dance-filled reception all in the name of having fun and checking out vendors. Basically you get to experience music, food, cake (mmmm cake) and other wedding must haves in a real-ish wedding setting. This year’s “big day” is on July 21st and two tickets (which include dinner, drinks, and dessert) are up for grabs this week.
But knowing that not everyone can get to Georgia on two weeks notice, The Not Wedding is also hooking the winner up with a $150 gift card to their registry sponsor Bloomingdale’s. Plus, you’ll win a pearl bridal bracelet and hair flower fascinator (in white or ivory) from their accessory sponsor (Fine & Fleurie). Which adds up to over $300 of wedding-tastic swag. Or should I say not wedding-tastic swag? Hmm. Either way… score.
- PRIZE: Two tickets to The Not Wedding, a $150 Bloomingdales gift card, plus a bracelet & hair flower from Fine & Fleurie
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “NOT ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us your favorite part about a wedding that was NOT yours. Did a particular family member have an especially touching ceremony? Did your best friend cry or laugh at your killer toast? Maybe your college friend simultaneously had you drooling over her location, dress, and decor? Or – be honest – is it just the time your work friend had an awesome open bar?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 6th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked to host this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from The Not Wedding, Bloomingdales and Fine & Fleurie.

One of my favorite wedding moments was a maid of honor speech where she wrote a mad lib and asked the audience to fill in the missing words. Hilarious!

NOT ME! My favorite wedding moment was when my best friend and husband turned their cheesy, country slow dance into an awesome 15 minute choreographed show. They kept it a complete secret, even from their best friends!

At my friend’s wedding the flower girl took her job very seriously and every three feet she walked she would take a hand full of flowers and place them down gently on the stone path (outdoor wedding) it was adorable!

The location of the last wedding I went to was fantastic…one of those old-school restaurants at the top of a hotel that rotates 360 degrees every hour. Made it tough to keep track of your table as the night wore on though!

Last summer my brother was married in a gorgeous Moroccan themed outdoor tent. I loved every minute of it. The colors and unique displays were different from any other wedding I attended. It definitely gives me something to compete with now that I’m engaged :)

One of my friends had her outdoor wedding at a nearby farm. To give you some sense, the ceremony was kind of on this hill over looking a valley and lake, and on the far side, there was a fenced-in sheep (pasture?). Aside from the fact that it was beautiful, when the ceremony started, some of the sheep came close to see what was going on, and when they gave their vows, two bald eagles soared overhead. It was pretty cool!

A few favorites:
One had a trio of musicians playing Irish music at the reception as a nod to their grandparents
One (a destination wedding in Newport, RI) had a booze cruise on a yacht the night before. And the bride was just gorgeous. I LOVED her hair and dress!
Another wedding had a beautiful setting on a Long Island vineyard. Plus an fantastic hors deveure and cocktail hour!
Another had a very simple wedding (reception in the church basement with no entertainment) but the ceremony and vows were so special and meaningful, plus choir music. Lovely!

My favorite part of a wedding is in the details! i attended a wedding in which the bride and groom incorporated all of their favorite things, tiny cupcakes from a local vendor, local coffee and food. It was a great representation of themselves and all the guests had a great time.

My favorite part of a wedding to date was starting my maid-of-honor speech in May with a joke sequence which FELL FLAT….luckily I was able to save the speech with some good old-fashioned sincerity and had the bride and groom in happy tears by the end!

My favorite part of my friend Becky’s wedding was when all of us single ladies at the time were on the dance floor waiting for the bouquet toss. A girlfriend of one of the groom’s guest turned around and said to me, “I punch you if you try for this bouquet.” Haha, needless to say she caught the bouquet.
We later found out that the guest she was with had dumped her a few weeks prior and uninvited her to the wedding. She came anyways. :)

My favorite part of a wedding was a good friend of mine literally RAN down the aisle. I snapped a shot of her and it looked like she was moving at the speed of light…. Once she got to her groom she looked like she was going to fall over! Anxious is an UNDERSTATEMENT. Needless to say, she was still the prettiest bride of all (even if I barely got to snap a photo of her!)
Sara says
NOT ME – my favorite thing to do at any wedding I go to is to look at the groom’s face when the bride comes down the aisle. PRICELESS!

“NOT ME!” We went to a wedding last month and the couple gave the Bridesmaid’s each $200 and told them to get any dress and shoes they wanted in Black. Very cool to see all the different styles of each girl come through, yet still look put together. It was very cute.

NOT ME! I went to a friend’s wedding that had a cocktail hour as guests arrived. It was a great way to keep all the guests from sitting down early and checking their watches while giving the bride a little extra time she needed.

I think my favorite thing about any wedding that I’ve been to… is the fact that the bride and groom had pictures of their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents on all of their wedding days framed and on display. It was such a sweet touch, and really brought the true meaning of ‘life-long love’ into light.

Not Me! My favorite part of a wedding that isn’t mine… was the fact that my friend Landon and his bride Chelsea diyed most of their wedding reception decor themselves and it looked fabulous! The atmosphere and decor were completely reflective of them and it was a really wonderful thing for them to do side by side to start them off on the adventure of marriage.

My favorite part of a wedding was when our friends got married in an old historical home. They got married on the staircase and all the guests stood above them/around them on the balcony that encompassed the whole upstairs. After wards, everyone threw rose petals as they kissed. It was beautiful!!
