Thanks to random.org’s very arbitrary matchmaking skills, our winner is… Lawren (whose favorite wedding moment was when her cousin’s pocketed dress stored tissues to hand the groom when he teared up during the vows). Congrats!
Hope everyone’s having an awesome Fourth of July. We’re enjoying some family time but wanted to drop in with this week’s giveaway, so here ya go. Thursday marks our 4th wedding anniversary, which typically would make this “Wedding Week” around here. But since there’s not much left of that dead horse to beat (we’ve already shared every last detail about our wedding, honeymoon, traditions, how we met, how we got engaged, and our favorite meaningful momentos), we’re gonna go light on the theme this time around. Don’t get me wrong, the last year has been awesome and we’re planning something sweet to celebrate the beginning of year five (nothing big, but we’ll share whatever we end up doing). Feel free to take a trip down memory lane by checking out a recap of our $4,000 DIY backyard ceremony or browsing old Wedding Week posts from the last three years if you’re feeling sentimental though.
And since this turned into sort of a “Not” Wedding Week, we figured it was the perfect time to do a giveaway with The Not Wedding. They’re a self-described “killer alternative to a bridal show” where you attend a mock ceremony, sit down dinner, and dance-filled reception all in the name of having fun and checking out vendors. Basically you get to experience music, food, cake (mmmm cake) and other wedding must haves in a real-ish wedding setting. This year’s “big day” is on July 21st and two tickets (which include dinner, drinks, and dessert) are up for grabs this week.
But knowing that not everyone can get to Georgia on two weeks notice, The Not Wedding is also hooking the winner up with a $150 gift card to their registry sponsor Bloomingdale’s. Plus, you’ll win a pearl bridal bracelet and hair flower fascinator (in white or ivory) from their accessory sponsor (Fine & Fleurie). Which adds up to over $300 of wedding-tastic swag. Or should I say not wedding-tastic swag? Hmm. Either way… score.
- PRIZE: Two tickets to The Not Wedding, a $150 Bloomingdales gift card, plus a bracelet & hair flower from Fine & Fleurie
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “NOT ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us your favorite part about a wedding that was NOT yours. Did a particular family member have an especially touching ceremony? Did your best friend cry or laugh at your killer toast? Maybe your college friend simultaneously had you drooling over her location, dress, and decor? Or – be honest – is it just the time your work friend had an awesome open bar?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 6th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked to host this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from The Not Wedding, Bloomingdales and Fine & Fleurie.

NOT ME! My favorite part of my best friend’s wedding were all of the sweet touches, like a welcome-to-the-family toast to her husband from her brother, the first dance, and the yummy cookie table with tradition Italian specialties that reminded me of my grandma.

NOT ME! Favorite part – the food!

NOT ME! The best part about other weddings is the lack of stress that goes along with attending them compared to your own. BTW, your anniversary is the same day that my daughter was born on…. 7/7/09… Thursday is a good day for both of us!

My favorite wedding was a friend who had a simple & small wedding & reception with few details but loads of fun. It was honestly the most fun I had ever had at a wedding and was a huge inspiration when we were planning our own wedding years later. To this day I still think of that wedding in terms of “most fun ever”.

Favorite moment: When one of the bride’s friends broke it down to Vanilla Ice (Ice Baby) which included a drop into the splits. She bounced back up and yelled “I’m the mother of twins!”

My favorite part of another person’s wedding was giving the maid-of-honor toast at my sister’s wedding. It was a really lovely moment for both of us, and something I’ll always remember.

It was the height of summer — the temperature at my cousin’s outdoor wedding was around 105 degrees. as everyone was waiting for the ceremony, a shave ice truck appeared that the bride had arranged for! how “cool” is that?!

My favorite part of a wedding that was not mine was my uncle’s speech at his daughter’s wedding. It was made me laugh and cry!

I enjoyed a friends wedding that was small-ish (more intimate!), and had an amazing DJ (definitely played more than the hustle). Love dancing!

Not Me! My dear friend got married in San Francisco on a shoestring and after the ceremony we all headed to a dive bar and had a fantastic time drinking beer and playing the jukebox.

NOT ME! I loved my sister’s weeding. She had the best d.j. ever, it was a gigantic party on the dance floor.

NOT ME! My favourite wedding moments are simply attending them. I’m a sucker for romance, and I just love weddings! The dress…the rings…the vows…the kiss. It’s all just so fun! At my own wedding, the flower girl whispered to me as I stood up front, “You’re the star of the show!” It was so cute!

My favorite part of any wedding is the ceremony when the groom gets the first look at his bride..

NOT ME! My favorite moment was watching my best friend, the Dancing Queen, dance her first dance with her husband, the Wallflower. He took dancing lessons to make their first dance perfect.

I went to a wedding where the bride’s family did a family dance that they had choreographed ahead of time and included in newest family member..the groom! I loved it!

Not Me! Best part of a wedding that wasn’t mine – definitely the cocktails and food. Who has time to eat or drink at your own wedding?!

I loved that a girl recently created her bouquet solely out of vintage jewelry… including pieces from her Grandma and other special women in her life. So unique and well done! Touching!!

Not Me! I loved having an excuse to go to California for a friend’s wedding a few years ago — it was a great trip that we probably wouldn’t have taken if it weren’t for the wedding.

NOT ME! My favorite part of any wedding was when my best friend got married and I (maid of honor) was in charge of bustling her about from place to place and utterly pampering her. It feels so good to take care of those you love during their special moments!

My favorite part of another wedding was the live band at my sisters wedding! They were amazing and everyone danced into the wee hours of the night.

We’ve been to many weddings in the last couple of years, all of which were beautiful. The outdoor wedding in Vermont on Lake Champlain sticks out as gorgeous, as does the at-home wedding a couple weeks ago. I have to admit- the peanut butter icing and chocolate cake from our friends’ wedding a few years ago REALLY sticks out- yum!
A side note- that flower hair clip is EXACTLY what I am looking for for our wedding in a month! :)

I always tear up with the procession down the aisle. The wedding gown, the bridesmaids, the flowers, the music…I just love a good procession!

“NOT ME!” My favorite part of a recent wedding I attended was the photo booth they had for guests…seems to be a trend that my wedding (10yrs ago) missed out on!

NOT ME! Happy anniversary to you! Ours is the same date (really!) and it’s our big 20th. Time certainly flies when you’re having fun.
My favorite part of any wedding is the dancing. We didn’t have much since a thunderstorm knocked out the electricity before our reception and the band left. Nice. Some lovely guests ran to get a boom box and people got tapes (yes, tapes, it was the long ago) from their cars.

NOT ME! When my best friend eloped in Vegas, they had an Elvis impersonator perform the ceremony. I have never laughed so hard at a wedding!

Favorite part of a friends wedding was the ring bearer caught the garter and told me that one of his friends had won a bike in a contest but he thought that catching the garter was so much cooler than that! He wore it on his arm the whole night but his arm was so skinny it would just slide right off.

I went to the most wonderful wedding a few years ago. The groom and most of those standing up for him went to college with my husband. It was the most romantic wedding – the bride and groom are both teachers and their ceremony was at the elementary school where they both work. The toasts at the reception (by the groomsmen) made almost everyone at the wedding cry (including the groom) – they were so sweet to both the bride and groom. It was one of those weddings where everybody made you feel like they have known you for years (and I certainly hadn’t known them that long!). On top of the atmosphere of love – the food and venue were amazing!

NOT ME! Favorite wedding memory from someone else’s wedding would have to be giving the toast at my friends wedding, where I served as maid of honor – what an honor

My favorite wedding memory occurred while camping at a friend’s wedding. A huge storm started in the middle of the night. We were ok in our tent. However, our friend who wanted to sleep out in the open got drenched and learned very quickly that he had put his sleeping bag in the middle of a dry creek bed. :)

NOT ME! My favorite part of any wedding was probably my whole family dancing on the floor for my sister’s wedding five years ago. I even twirled my Grammy around a few times with her walker! It was a great day. :)

My favorite wedding moment was at the wedding of a distant but much-loved friend in Lake George, NY. The bride was so visibly excited to be married to her groom that she shifted her knees back and forth in her position at the altar- so that it looked like she was running in place out of excitement! That was cute, but even cuter was when the groom did an exaggerated running-in-place dance just like hers! It showed how in love they are– but also how fun! :-)
Congrats on your anniversary… you seem to be doing everything right! :-D

At my sister’s wedding last December, they had secretly come up with a great salsa dance to the theme song from the movie The Mask of Zoro (they both LOVE that movie) and the busted it out at the reception, and it was AMAZING! And neither one of them are dancers! They also came up with a whole choreographed routine that their entire 22-person bridal party danced to to get the dance party portion of the reception started!

One of my favorite wedding moments was at my best friend’s wedding. At the very end of the reception, everyone circled around them and sang (can’t remember the song). It was like something out of a fairy tale. You could truly feel the love and support everyone had for them. Needless to say, I cried…

My favorite wedding memory was at my friend’s wedding this past spring — they had their reception at Ironbird Stadium (baseball). While the guests had their cocktail hour above the stands, we got to watch the bride, groom, and wedding party play baseball down on the field! Everyone wore sneakers/cleats, including the bride! It was absolutely adorable.

My new brother in law and his brother had made a music video to that song “Beautiful Girls” and had cut in snippets of the video my sis and brother in law took on their engagement day (it was a whole day long “date” starting with a hot air balloon ride, vineyard tour and wine tasting, lunch at a place overlooking a different vineyard, and then the proposal, and then a surprise BBQ with all their friends and family at the end of the night — my sister had no idea!) but they frequently video tape things/each other, so his suggestion of videotaping the “date” day didn’t throw her off. And the whole BBQ crowd got to watch it that night, so we all got to witness the engagement. :) And then it was clips of that day that he had cut in to the music video they made, which they played at the wedding. It was amazing! And so creative!

My favs – Last year when my girlfriend got married, everything was perfect the ceremony, the reception, the weather – It was like heaven descended for day.
When my brother got married, he and I (as a bridesmaid) were crying so hard, the pastor gave him a hanky to wipe his eyes. My sister-in-law wanted to kill us both.

Recently, I was at a wedding of a co-worker. Just has her and her husband were about to kiss, someone sitting behind me opened up a can of coke. Now, keep in mind that it was totally silent in the church. Therefore, the sound of the coke can opening was heard by EVERYONE!

My best friend got married in N’Orleans. Her reception and ceremony were in the same cute little outdoor place. The food was awesome, and the live brass band was killer!
