Thanks to random.org’s very arbitrary matchmaking skills, our winner is… Lawren (whose favorite wedding moment was when her cousin’s pocketed dress stored tissues to hand the groom when he teared up during the vows). Congrats!
Hope everyone’s having an awesome Fourth of July. We’re enjoying some family time but wanted to drop in with this week’s giveaway, so here ya go. Thursday marks our 4th wedding anniversary, which typically would make this “Wedding Week” around here. But since there’s not much left of that dead horse to beat (we’ve already shared every last detail about our wedding, honeymoon, traditions, how we met, how we got engaged, and our favorite meaningful momentos), we’re gonna go light on the theme this time around. Don’t get me wrong, the last year has been awesome and we’re planning something sweet to celebrate the beginning of year five (nothing big, but we’ll share whatever we end up doing). Feel free to take a trip down memory lane by checking out a recap of our $4,000 DIY backyard ceremony or browsing old Wedding Week posts from the last three years if you’re feeling sentimental though.
And since this turned into sort of a “Not” Wedding Week, we figured it was the perfect time to do a giveaway with The Not Wedding. They’re a self-described “killer alternative to a bridal show” where you attend a mock ceremony, sit down dinner, and dance-filled reception all in the name of having fun and checking out vendors. Basically you get to experience music, food, cake (mmmm cake) and other wedding must haves in a real-ish wedding setting. This year’s “big day” is on July 21st and two tickets (which include dinner, drinks, and dessert) are up for grabs this week.
But knowing that not everyone can get to Georgia on two weeks notice, The Not Wedding is also hooking the winner up with a $150 gift card to their registry sponsor Bloomingdale’s. Plus, you’ll win a pearl bridal bracelet and hair flower fascinator (in white or ivory) from their accessory sponsor (Fine & Fleurie). Which adds up to over $300 of wedding-tastic swag. Or should I say not wedding-tastic swag? Hmm. Either way… score.
- PRIZE: Two tickets to The Not Wedding, a $150 Bloomingdales gift card, plus a bracelet & hair flower from Fine & Fleurie
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “NOT ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us your favorite part about a wedding that was NOT yours. Did a particular family member have an especially touching ceremony? Did your best friend cry or laugh at your killer toast? Maybe your college friend simultaneously had you drooling over her location, dress, and decor? Or – be honest – is it just the time your work friend had an awesome open bar?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 6th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked to host this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from The Not Wedding, Bloomingdales and Fine & Fleurie.

My big sister’s wedding had the best wedding moment I’ve ever seen!
After the kiss, the bride and groom happily turned to prance down the aisle as a first time Mr. & Mrs. The groom was so excited that he decided it was a good time to lift his wife into his arms and sprint away down the aisle.
Unfortunately for him, the bride’s dress disliked this decision. Her train caught in his shoe and they both went flailing and screaming to the ground. With minor injuries to the bride’s elbows and the groom’s pride, the party went on!
(This video ended up on America’s Funniest Home Videos too!)

I am a big fan of the invitations… my husband’s cousin has an invitation that is seriously drool worthy. Something about thick paper, letter press and a personalized wax stamp that says this wedding is going to be awesome!

NOT ME!! My favorite part about my cousins first wedding was dancing with my father. I will never forget being around 12 and my dad taught me to dance at her wedding. It was so much fun!

I was a bridesmaid at my cousin’s wedding last year. As I was walking down the aisle with my bouquet of flowers, I was mesmerized by the beautiful cathedral and the sweet music that was playing – and then I woke up halfway down the aisle and realized it was NOT ME getting married!! It was such a beautiful ceremony I couldn’t help daydream it was mine! HAHAHA

fav part of someone else’s wedding was a friend’s best man speech. He told a bunch of cute stories of them growing up and riding bikes together. He ending by saying the bride was stealing his bike. Literally everyone went for laughter to tears in seconds. So heartfelt!

My favorite wedding moment was when Wilson Phillips surprised everyone after the vows and sang “Hold On” -the brides favorite song. The bride and her maid of honor sang and acted out the lyrics. Too funny! (Sorry, just got back from the movies.)

“NOT ME!” I recently went to a wedding where one of the groom’s cousin’s sang a prayer in the Persian language. It was beautiful.

I like the weddings that are basically big parties without all of the formality. Spontaneous singing, open bar, cheesy dancing, and good food make for a good time.

My best friend’s wedding was last October. She was a BEAUTIFUL bride and I loved all of the personal touches she had in her wedding. Her grandfather and grandmother passed away in the few years before her wedding, but they got a special nod. Her grandfather was in WWII and her grandmother had given him a watch before he left. He told stories of hiding under a park bench and looking down at his watch, and it was the only thing keeping him going. When he came home from the war, the watch stopped working so he tucked it away and didn’t think of it again. After her grandmother died, he found the watch and after all those years, it had begun ticking again! That’s a pretty special watch! She had her florist tuck the watch face into her bouquet and it rested on her finger throughout the ceremony. Talk about special!!!!!

NOT ME! Andd…. My favorite part of the most recent wedding I’ve been to was how the couple (two dear friends from college) memorized their vows and spoke them to each other without any prompts. It made the meaning of the words so much more poignant and, actually, less rehearsed!

NOT ME…The best wedding I ever went to was one of my best friends. They had been dating for almost a decade and so they decided to keep the guest list small and splurged on a wonderful time for everyone who came. And everywhere you looked, you knew it was THEIR wedding, everything was so perfectly them. I’ve never seen it done better!

NOT ME! One of my friends had 400 people crammed into a church basement to celebrate her wedding by eating fried chicken. It was funny.

My best friend got married in the mountains overlooking the San Francisco Bay. It was BEAUTIFUL! Slightly windy and very overcast day but by the time we made it up to the patio the wind had blown enough of the clouds away for the sun to shine right on the happy couple! They were married by a longtime family friend – the same person who performed the ceremony for the bride’s parents at their wedding! He wore a top hat and because the couple isn’t religious, he carried a copy of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It was a very traditional and beautiful wedding with lots of cute surprises like that. The bridesmaids wore Converse shoes and she gave out cakepops with the champagne. Made me want to get married again! (and again!)

My favorite wedding so far was my sister’s. I will be honest, I cried during the ceremony. I was just so happy to see her so happy. Plus, my family is better with my brother in law in it.

I am currently planning my own wedding for October 22 so its difficult to pick something NOT related to that- how about my friend’s wedding in NY 3 years ago- i had just moved from NY to CA and traveled back for it. It was a great trip to visit the old stomping ground and celebrate my friend’s big day!

My favorite part of a wedding that wasn’t mine was at my best friend’s wedding. When removing the garter, the groom pulled out a giant pair of yellow underwear that he bought at Walmart the night before. I may or may not have been in on that joke. :)

One of my favorite wedding memories was watching my sister be a flower girl for the first time, she was 4 back then, she tried so hard to do the job perfectly. She would throw the petals down….then pick them all up….thrown the petals down…then pick them all up, etc. Everyone tried not to laugh, but it was too cute – maybe even the longest part of the ceremony!

Not Me – My best friend had a “weekend away” wedding. We all stayed at the Cape Cod motel and basically took it over for three days. All of the door faced outside to the courtyard. One room was set up as a bar with iced beers in the tub… we had a awesome time relaxing and celebrating the amazing couple! Would do it again in a heartbeat!!!

My favorite wedding detail was actually before we were married in Vegas. When you get married in Vegas, you first visit the county clerk, where a line of people that start outside and descend down the steps go into one set of double doors and come out married through another set of double doors. And when I say double doors, I mean swinging doors like you’d see in a diner. But what was best about participating in this line was that everyone-old, young, with kids and strollers, in shorts, in wedding dresses, with or without flowers-everyone was over the moon happy. And when each couple came out of the double doors, the were hand in hand, smiling at each other. Some weddings may be fancier, but none have been more sincere or genuine, or filled with true happiness. When my husband and I walked out the doors, it was hand in hand, smiling from ear to ear, and 14 years and three kids later nothing has changed.

NOT ME!!! My fav wedding memory was my cousin’s first dance with her new husband at their wedding in March. Since her father had passed away when she was just nine, the emotions she expressed were two fold…joy… dancing with her new husband and sadness… knowing that there would be no dance with her dad.
So touching to say the least.

I just got married 2 weeks ago, and have to say our wedding was amazing! (Now I have 4 friends to help with their weddings!)
My friend got married last summer and one of our friends sang a song written by the groom- he isn’t the best vocalist, but it was sweet, endearing and so thoughtful!
