Thanks to random.org’s very arbitrary matchmaking skills, our winner is… Lawren (whose favorite wedding moment was when her cousin’s pocketed dress stored tissues to hand the groom when he teared up during the vows). Congrats!
Hope everyone’s having an awesome Fourth of July. We’re enjoying some family time but wanted to drop in with this week’s giveaway, so here ya go. Thursday marks our 4th wedding anniversary, which typically would make this “Wedding Week” around here. But since there’s not much left of that dead horse to beat (we’ve already shared every last detail about our wedding, honeymoon, traditions, how we met, how we got engaged, and our favorite meaningful momentos), we’re gonna go light on the theme this time around. Don’t get me wrong, the last year has been awesome and we’re planning something sweet to celebrate the beginning of year five (nothing big, but we’ll share whatever we end up doing). Feel free to take a trip down memory lane by checking out a recap of our $4,000 DIY backyard ceremony or browsing old Wedding Week posts from the last three years if you’re feeling sentimental though.
And since this turned into sort of a “Not” Wedding Week, we figured it was the perfect time to do a giveaway with The Not Wedding. They’re a self-described “killer alternative to a bridal show” where you attend a mock ceremony, sit down dinner, and dance-filled reception all in the name of having fun and checking out vendors. Basically you get to experience music, food, cake (mmmm cake) and other wedding must haves in a real-ish wedding setting. This year’s “big day” is on July 21st and two tickets (which include dinner, drinks, and dessert) are up for grabs this week.
But knowing that not everyone can get to Georgia on two weeks notice, The Not Wedding is also hooking the winner up with a $150 gift card to their registry sponsor Bloomingdale’s. Plus, you’ll win a pearl bridal bracelet and hair flower fascinator (in white or ivory) from their accessory sponsor (Fine & Fleurie). Which adds up to over $300 of wedding-tastic swag. Or should I say not wedding-tastic swag? Hmm. Either way… score.
- PRIZE: Two tickets to The Not Wedding, a $150 Bloomingdales gift card, plus a bracelet & hair flower from Fine & Fleurie
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “NOT ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us your favorite part about a wedding that was NOT yours. Did a particular family member have an especially touching ceremony? Did your best friend cry or laugh at your killer toast? Maybe your college friend simultaneously had you drooling over her location, dress, and decor? Or – be honest – is it just the time your work friend had an awesome open bar?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 6th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked to host this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from The Not Wedding, Bloomingdales and Fine & Fleurie.

I loved the location of my youngest brother’s wedding. I come from a traditional community and everyone gets married in a church (myself included) but my brother and his wife found a downtown art studio with a rooftop terrace. It was a gorgeous day and a beautiful setting.

NOT ME! My cousins daughters reception was the best. They had around 400 of their friends and family yet it felt very intimate. It was too much fun!

My friend had “chinese take out” stations during her cocktail hour, complete with little cartons and chopsticks. Such a fun twist to the party.

One of my favorite weddings was my friend’s this past January – at her reception she had a macaroni and cheese bar with all the fixin’s!!! It was awesome! I might be using that when the time comes around! :)

My favorite wedding-not-mine would have to be my best friend’s. I was her maid-of-honor, and we had SUCH a blast riding around in the post-wedding-car afterwards…driving around Sault Ste Marie, Michigan honking the horn and whooping and hollering out the window anywhere we could get attention! We drove through the WAL MART parking lot where we got lots of crazy stares, then some “woo-hoos” when they figured out what we were doing! Of course we had to stop at the “party store” for another bottle of champagne before heading to the reception. Sooo classy….

I’m still in awe of the amount of food served at our Armenian friend’s wedding. I’ve never seen so much food. The cocktail hour was almost a buffet dinner itself. Then we sat down to unbelievable courses. Whoa….I’ll never forget the food in that wedding!

Not me! My favorite wedding memory is of my brother at my uncles wedding years ago and he wouldn’t stop asking our uncle to go out and play with him during the cake cutting! He was about 4 at the time. Everyone cracked up laughing!

My favorite part about a wedding that was NOT mine was the beautiful reception a friend of the family had for their wedding at a gorgeous old theater hall decorated for christmas (december wedding) with christmas trees bearing ornaments with their names written on them and red poinsettias everywhere. Absolutely magical.

NOT ME! When my best friend got married we convinced my little brother (who was 12) that if you caught the garter you won $10. Needless to say, he moved heaven and earth and caught the thing. It was hilarious for everyone!

I recently attended a wedding where we surprised the bride and groom with a flash mob. A good majority of the guests learned a choreographed dance before the wedding through a youtube video that was sent out by the bride’s sisters. It was so much fun!!
Tiffany says
NOT ME! My favorite part of any and every wedding is when the doors close in preparation for the bride to come down the aisle. Then when the doors re-open, it brings to tears to my eyes. Every single time. No matter if I’ve already seen her prior to the ceremony. It’s just the build up of emotion in that one moment, when you can almost feel the love between those two people and all their loved ones under one roof. Cliche, perhaps but true nevertheless. :0)

Not Me!! Mine and my husband’s friends got married last October and they had an AMAZING live band… it was the first time I ever saw my husband throw all shame to the wind and bust some major moves on the dance floor. He was a fun date to have that evening :) Major props to weddings with live bands!
Kelly Lewis says
“NOT ME!” Being a photographer allows me to see lots of weddings but one of the coolest things I’ve experienced is a second line. It’s a New Orleans tradition where a band leads the bride and groom and all their wedding guests in a parade through the city. The bride and groom carry umbrellas and the guests wave white handkerchiefs and everybody dances. I’ve never seen anything like it and it was a lot of fun.

Not me! I have fantastic childhood memories of the four weddings my aunt and uncle put on for their four kids (my cousins) All of these weddings had the best music, wild dancing, and fab food and favors. Another favorite experience was a summer wedding in Iowa City, IA that was held at the hotel the couple developed, own, and live in. It was unbelievable!

my husband and I have got a fair amount of weddings as we work with a buffet service doing volunteer work at weekends… from all of them my favorite part was in a wedding where the priest was one of the couple’s friends and after some pretty personal celebration (not those by the book) surprised the bride and groom with their friends singing their song at the end of the ceremony…
sure, there were lots of funny moments, but deep inside I’m a sentimental girl… what can I say…

My best girlfriends in highschool (there were 5 of us in total) were thick as thieves and got to reunite for my girlfriend Alli’s wedding at a resort in Canada… it was SO special to reunite and celebrate together after going our separate ways all those years ago. Felt like we were 18 again!

My favorite wedding memory was from my cousin’s recent wedding. My three year old cousin was ringbearer…he was also in love with the bride. When it was time to kiss the bride he covered his eyes with his hands and started whispering, “No! Don’t do it! No! No!” The bride and groom didn’t notice, but it was quite entertaining for the groom’s sisters and I sitting in the front row. :-)
