Thanks to random.org’s very arbitrary matchmaking skills, our winner is… Lawren (whose favorite wedding moment was when her cousin’s pocketed dress stored tissues to hand the groom when he teared up during the vows). Congrats!
Hope everyone’s having an awesome Fourth of July. We’re enjoying some family time but wanted to drop in with this week’s giveaway, so here ya go. Thursday marks our 4th wedding anniversary, which typically would make this “Wedding Week” around here. But since there’s not much left of that dead horse to beat (we’ve already shared every last detail about our wedding, honeymoon, traditions, how we met, how we got engaged, and our favorite meaningful momentos), we’re gonna go light on the theme this time around. Don’t get me wrong, the last year has been awesome and we’re planning something sweet to celebrate the beginning of year five (nothing big, but we’ll share whatever we end up doing). Feel free to take a trip down memory lane by checking out a recap of our $4,000 DIY backyard ceremony or browsing old Wedding Week posts from the last three years if you’re feeling sentimental though.
And since this turned into sort of a “Not” Wedding Week, we figured it was the perfect time to do a giveaway with The Not Wedding. They’re a self-described “killer alternative to a bridal show” where you attend a mock ceremony, sit down dinner, and dance-filled reception all in the name of having fun and checking out vendors. Basically you get to experience music, food, cake (mmmm cake) and other wedding must haves in a real-ish wedding setting. This year’s “big day” is on July 21st and two tickets (which include dinner, drinks, and dessert) are up for grabs this week.
But knowing that not everyone can get to Georgia on two weeks notice, The Not Wedding is also hooking the winner up with a $150 gift card to their registry sponsor Bloomingdale’s. Plus, you’ll win a pearl bridal bracelet and hair flower fascinator (in white or ivory) from their accessory sponsor (Fine & Fleurie). Which adds up to over $300 of wedding-tastic swag. Or should I say not wedding-tastic swag? Hmm. Either way… score.
- PRIZE: Two tickets to The Not Wedding, a $150 Bloomingdales gift card, plus a bracelet & hair flower from Fine & Fleurie
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “NOT ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us your favorite part about a wedding that was NOT yours. Did a particular family member have an especially touching ceremony? Did your best friend cry or laugh at your killer toast? Maybe your college friend simultaneously had you drooling over her location, dress, and decor? Or – be honest – is it just the time your work friend had an awesome open bar?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 6th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked to host this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from The Not Wedding, Bloomingdales and Fine & Fleurie.

My favorite part of a wedding was the bouquet toss at my sister’s. The florist had rushed off to a concert and forgot to put flowers on the cake, so my mom took what turned out to be the tossing bouquet to decorate the cake. When it came time to toss the bouquet, we had to pick the flowers out of the cake. Said bouquet was tossed, with icing flying randomly into the crowd. Fortunately, it wasn’t as messy or sticky as it could have been!

At a recent best friends wedding, the bridal party got a kick out of the horribly untalented wedding coordinator and all of the things that went wrong. The best part was, the bride was there laughing with us! We had a blast laughing with each other, and at the end of the day, they were married and it was a beautiful and touching ceremony!

My favorite wedding moment was a spontaneous napkin dance at my friends wedding. Not only was everyone up dancing, they were twirling napkins over their heads. Sombrero’s came out and even a conga line formed! This all happened during the first course…totally set the scene for the rest of the wedding!

NOT ME! My best friend got married in the most beautiful beach house – and I drooled over it all through the ceremony & reception!

Not me! My favorite part of another wedding besides our was when my now husband gave a toast to the groom at our friends wedding. He was equal parts charming and hilarious. It was awesome to see him speak in front of so many people and kill it.

I went to a friend’s wedding shortly after I got married and I loved the celebratory enthusiasm of the event. She’s Jewish so they did fun tradition like the pick the couple up in chairs and carry them around singing thing…thought that was fun.

NOT ME! My favorite wedding story is of my dad’s cousin’s daughter’s wedding. Apparently, another of my dad’s cousin’s wanted to sing a song to the couple and when she got up to sing her song, the whole crowd got quiet to listen…and my dad just burst out hysterically laughing. He couldn’t control himself and he couldn’t stop. It was so embarassing, but also hysterical!

I went to a disaster of a wedding a few years ago. It started three hours late, they had cold cuts for dinner that (unknowingly) sat outside in the heat for hours, the bride was moody…but we all continued to laugh and enjoy the quirks that made it a truly unique wedding!

My favorite part of a wedding that was not mine was the setting for my sister’s wedding (we planned both her wedding and mine). It was so hot, but you can’t tell in the pictures. They look great!

My favorite wedding was at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati. The pics on the Bengals football field were too cute and a groomsman wrote and performed a personalized song for the Bride and Groom’s first dance. So sweet & unique!

I was a bridesmaid in wedding on 6/18/2011. The Maid of Honor (MOH) was giving her speech to the bride and groom. She talked about how her and the bride became friends and how the bride met the groom. In her speech in front of friends and family (including parents and grandparents) the MOH told the story of how the couple met.
The bride worked with the groom’s brother. The groom’s brother was interested in a coworker so they invited the groom’s brother out and he brought the groom. The MOH thought the bride wasn’t interested in the groom and told her that she needed to “hit that” because he was hot.
That was one of the most inappropriate MOH speeches I had ever heard, but it sure made the crowd laugh.

The first dance at my brother’s wedding was “When You Say Nothing at All”. In between lyrics, the dj had my brother and sister-in-law record heartfelt messages from them to each other. It was very sweet.

My favorite wedding detail was a surprise by the groomsmen… My friend Matt is over 6′ tall. His lovely (now) wife, Andrea, is around 5’2″. At the end of the ceremony, just before the kiss the best man stopped the wedding, ran behind a conveniently located tree and returned with a step stool. It was hilarious and beautiful and made for some wonderful wedding pictures.

NOT ME!! My cousin commissioned a work of art for her husband and displayed it at their reception. I thought that was pretty sweet.

My favorite part of my friend’s wedding was the old-fashioned flair she added to it– the men wore bow ties and she wore a vintage lace dress with a beautiful vail. It was so beautiful and romantic!

NOT ME! I go to a ton of weddings and my favorite part at all of them is when the bride and groom meet each other at the front of the aisle. I cry every time…happy tears of course!

During pictures (thank goodness after the ceremony), the arch that was decorated with tons of flowers toppled as a huge wind burst came through. Our faces our priceless as we watched it fall to the ground. Laughs all around…

Not ME! The best thing about the recent weddings I’ve been to has to be my friends and all their crazy dancing. We all met doing theater as kids and we all still know some of the dances we had to do in shows so any time a swing number comes on or a song that we had to perform in a review, it’s kind of like a mini-show! I love it!

My favorite wedding memory is my oldest brother’s wedding in August 2003. He and his wife got married at an old farmhouse outside Charlottsville, Virginia and had a potluck reception. To add to the fun, they had a tradiional Native American ceremony (yes that was a first) and wore deerskin wedding garmets. Happy almost 8 years Adam and Lizzie!
