Thanks to random.org’s very arbitrary matchmaking skills, our winner is… Lawren (whose favorite wedding moment was when her cousin’s pocketed dress stored tissues to hand the groom when he teared up during the vows). Congrats!
Hope everyone’s having an awesome Fourth of July. We’re enjoying some family time but wanted to drop in with this week’s giveaway, so here ya go. Thursday marks our 4th wedding anniversary, which typically would make this “Wedding Week” around here. But since there’s not much left of that dead horse to beat (we’ve already shared every last detail about our wedding, honeymoon, traditions, how we met, how we got engaged, and our favorite meaningful momentos), we’re gonna go light on the theme this time around. Don’t get me wrong, the last year has been awesome and we’re planning something sweet to celebrate the beginning of year five (nothing big, but we’ll share whatever we end up doing). Feel free to take a trip down memory lane by checking out a recap of our $4,000 DIY backyard ceremony or browsing old Wedding Week posts from the last three years if you’re feeling sentimental though.
And since this turned into sort of a “Not” Wedding Week, we figured it was the perfect time to do a giveaway with The Not Wedding. They’re a self-described “killer alternative to a bridal show” where you attend a mock ceremony, sit down dinner, and dance-filled reception all in the name of having fun and checking out vendors. Basically you get to experience music, food, cake (mmmm cake) and other wedding must haves in a real-ish wedding setting. This year’s “big day” is on July 21st and two tickets (which include dinner, drinks, and dessert) are up for grabs this week.
But knowing that not everyone can get to Georgia on two weeks notice, The Not Wedding is also hooking the winner up with a $150 gift card to their registry sponsor Bloomingdale’s. Plus, you’ll win a pearl bridal bracelet and hair flower fascinator (in white or ivory) from their accessory sponsor (Fine & Fleurie). Which adds up to over $300 of wedding-tastic swag. Or should I say not wedding-tastic swag? Hmm. Either way… score.
- PRIZE: Two tickets to The Not Wedding, a $150 Bloomingdales gift card, plus a bracelet & hair flower from Fine & Fleurie
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “NOT ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us your favorite part about a wedding that was NOT yours. Did a particular family member have an especially touching ceremony? Did your best friend cry or laugh at your killer toast? Maybe your college friend simultaneously had you drooling over her location, dress, and decor? Or – be honest – is it just the time your work friend had an awesome open bar?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 6th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked to host this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from The Not Wedding, Bloomingdales and Fine & Fleurie.

Not me!! My favorite part of a wedding that wasn’t mine was the non-traditional ‘bride and groom hosted party.’ Everyone brought food to share, they had twinkle lights in the outside park setting, and it very much reflected the personalities of the bride and groom.

I love all the photobooths that other people’s weddings have!

Not me! My favorite part of a friend’s wedding was ending the night dancing to “Shout!” with both the bride’s parents, groom’s parents, bride’s grandmother, and all of our friends. So fun!

NOT ME and the best wedding event that was not mine would have to be the really awesome old Irish folk band that played at the reception!

My favorite was my sister’s. It was a gorgeous day where I cried happy tears at the ceremony and then laughed so hard I cried at reception. :)

My favorite was the one where the couple got married at the family cottage. The groom had saved up for an engagement ring but the bride had chosen a canoe. So the father of the bride ‘escorted’ the bride down the ‘aisle’ by paddling her up to the shore and at the end of the ceremony the couple paddled off in said canoe!

My brother-in-law got married in April, and my husband (who was incredibly drunk at the time), did a toast in which he referred to his bro as “the Luigi to my Mario.” The whole thing was pretty excellent, and was certainly way better than the sappy, two-page handwritten monstrosity that the maid of honor delivered.

I recently went to a wedding at a zoo, so if you got tired of dancing you could go watch the bears and alligators, which was pretty awesome.

NOT ME!My two best friends got married on my birthday this year. I was in the bridal party and we had planned to just celebrate my 25th the next weekend so it took me by surprise when they had everyone sing Happy Birthday halfway through the ceremony. It was so sweet.

I was a flower girl in my aunt’s wedding when I was little, and I felt like a princess! I made sure to throw all my rose petals at my friend in the crowd, because I wanted her to have them.

My favorite wedding was of a work friend who’d planned and obsessed about getting married for many years. Everything was perfect and beautiful and the caterers even had an amazing vegan meal available for me (trust me, this is very unusual).

My favorite wedding was a friends amazing night view overlooking a city skyline. I had really wanted it when I got married but our guest list was way to big to accommodate. It was wonderful to experience her wedding in such a great venue. Bonus points my husband and I could walk to the wedding.

NOT ME! Some of my favourite highlights of a wedding that wasn’t mine was my best friend’s Halloween themed bash. She got married on halloween,(a Wednesday) the reception was a costume party, and she wore a red dress with a black veil. Quite unique!

NOT ME! My favourite part of my brothers wedding was when they were pouring two vases of sand into one, it was beautiful! And hilarious when my brother’s wife shouted out “Stop pouring so fast! You’re taking up the whole vase!” Hahaha. Amusingly she’s the one who’s the boss in the relationship.

Not me!! It’s really cute because my fiance and mine anniversary is July 7th too. This year will be our 2 year mark. We’re getting married on January 7, 2012.
My favorite part of wedding I’ve been too was the vows. My friend slightly changed the traditional vows by changing out one word. That little detail made their vows their own. She has a way with words and only she would think of the subtle change with such big impact.

My favorite wedding moment was helping my friend amy get ready to walk down the aisle. I will never forget how content, calm and lovely she was, not mention the groom’s face when he first saw her walking down the aisle!

My favorite part about our wedding is that my fiance is Jewish and I’m not…but I’m learning how to pull off a traditional Jewish ceremony while holding true to my family traditions and our values. It’s pretty awesome, and I can’t wait until our wedding in November!
