Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

clean me! spring cleaning began this past weekend. I’m on a mission to de-clutter and to change my magazine pack-rat ways. I had 60+ on the curb for recycling this morning.

I just made the rounds in our place and washed slipcovers on our sofa and chair, had my other upholstery professionally cleaned (my two year old does serious damage with those little hands) and vacuumed all my drapes!

    CLEAN ME!!!

we’re in the market for a new vacuum and after reading your post on this Bissell, it’s #1 on our list! I have Spring Fever very, very badly this year after a long cold winter in the South so the Spring Cleaning has already begun at our home after the 1st nice weekend here in a while! This past weekend saw deep cleaning in our kitchen and bathrooms in addition to pruning and fertilizing in our front yard and building custom shelves for our closet. It would have also included vacuuming but our sad little cheap-o vacuum can no longer even pick up loose strands of carpet!!

Last year I moved my Mother into assisted Living if that wasn’t a wake up call to my get my house in order I don’t know what is. She had cancelled checks from the 70’s. Cleaning my closet is on my agenda for spring break. When school lets out and my evening slow down I’m going to try to clean out a couple of drawers a week. How do you eat an elephant?…one bite at a time.

    CLEAN ME!

I’m working on hiring a housekeeper. I’ve determined that she’s going to be a lifesaver, and will leave me time to do the big spring cleaning projects (read: basement and garage clean out) while she (I happen to be interviewing two ladies) takes care of the regular stuff.

    CLEAN ME!

I just moved a couple months ago so there won’t be much spring cleaning going on…just renovating!

I have a funny spring cleaning ritual that I have observed several times, but would never actually do myself and which involves a vaccuum cleaner (well okay….a shop vac).
We get a ton of snow where I live. The salt and sand that they put on the roads eventually end up on the snowbanks. Then when the snow melts, the salt and sand ends up on everyone’s lawns (especially if you live on a busy street). So in the spring people vaccuum their lawns! I think it’s just so bizarre but it always gives me a good laugh when I see it. It’s not something everyone does, but I swear I see it at least once every spring!

Darn! We actually just bought this vacuum yesterday on your recommendation! We love it, though–haven’t gotten a chance to vacuum the whole house yet (our daughter’s scared of the vacuum, so one of us has to hold her while the other uses it), but when my husband gets home today we’re going to thoroughly vacuum the entire house and we are SO excited! We were SHOCKED last night when he vacuumed a small area near the couch and came up with a canister full of cat hair–even though he’d vacuumed with our old vacuum two days ago. Icky.

I usually do my big time cleaning before Jan. 1 so I can start the new year with a clean house, but anyone who knows me knows that a dirty house stresses me out! I love to make sure everything has a home and the cleaner my floors and counters are, the better. I would LOVE to win this vacuum seeing as my current one is on it’s last legs (proabbly something to do with my dog who sheds ridiculous amounts of hair everywhere!).

    CLEAN ME!

Spring cleaning for the past five years has involved moving of furniture to get the dust rhinos out from where they lurk behind( way to big to be considered bunnies), going through the giant junk pile that has amassed since the last holiday, and airing out the entire house by opening all the windows and cranking up some fantastic music to inspire the cleaning! This spring will be the first in our new house and as a married couple– so spring cleaning this year will mean the purging of our singledom junk ( why did we both keep high school notebooks until we were 30?) and cleaning and combining for our married life!

We haven’t started spring cleaning yet. YET, is the key word there, haha. Every year I go through my clothing and if I haven’t worn it in a year – it goes to Salvation Army or the Warming Center we volunteer at. This year I want to do that with STUFF. old folders of random information I thought I’d use and never did, decor items that we don’t use anymore etc. I love doing this kind of thing so I’m excited to go through stuff and get rid of stuff! (Or, donate it so someone else kind find them useful.) Can’t wait to see how your closets turned out. :)
