Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?
We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.
Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.
- PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Clean me.
Spring cleaning has been in full force the past two weekends. The first weekend, I washed all the windows from the outside. A little water, a little vinegar, and voila – clean. The past weekend, we tackled the basement. We cleaned out all the boxes of things we hadn’t unpacked since August. We threw a ton out, took a road trip to the dump. It feels so good to have the basement organized and clean.

CLEAN ME! We’ve been nesting for the last month straight as baby is due any day now. Would be sooo nice to trade in our ancient, not-very-functional vacuum.

Since we have decided that we will be moving back home (from TX to OK) in about 6 months so that my husband can work for his dad, our spring cleaning will be actually renovating (a bathroom and the kitchen), packing, donating, painting and scrubbing the entire house. I’m tired just thinking about it! Oh yeah, and we’re accountants so our lives are miserable from about January through the end of March so the house just gets progressively messier for a few months, THEN we get to do all the fun stuff!!
Arlee says
CLEAN ME!
I’ve started the spring cleaning process (I have a massive list, so I try to start in January so it’s not overwhelming). Last weekend I washed all the windows and curtains…it may be my imagination, but I feel like our house is so much cleaner now!

I was just out shopping around this past weekend for the perfect multi-surface floor cleaner. Part of my spring cleaning ritual is getting everything spic and span to make “dust season” (summer) more manageable.

I have had such a hard time finding a way to keep the floors clean. We have 2 large dogs.. one a whippet/german shepard mix and the other greyhound/german shepard mix. Both seem to shed year round and daily!! I would love to win this prize, it would make my year!

Spring cleaning involves lots of organizing & prioritizing. We usually go through our closets & get rid of any clothes that have not been worn in a while.

My spring cleaning starts right after christmas, it just makes sense to me to start the year off right. I start with closets, move to drawers and dressers, then on to baseboards and then when the weather is warm, windows!!

By far my favorite spring cleaning task is to wash all of the linens: bed linens, curtains, slipcovers, rugs etc. and lay them out in the sun to dry! Oh I love the fresh air smell that each item brings into the house!

Spring cleaning for me is to re-evaluate all the stuff I haven’t used in the passed year (or max of 3 years) to see if it is worth keeping. If not, items are to be donated, given away, or trash/recycle. We have limited space so this helps keep the clutter down.

I start my spring cleaning with washing windows. Dirty windows are a pet peeve of mine. Twice a year, spring and fall I clean from top to bottom, woodwork, re-polishing and buffing hardwood floors..etc.
Then I go through the closets and donate clothing we haven’t worn for a while to a local charity called Big Sisters of Rhode Island.

I live in community with three other young adult males. It can be a disaster at times, but we have shared the responsibility and have begun to see signs of cleanliness. This vacuum would save our reputation to the outside world when guests venture into our door.

We started some spring cleaning by doing windows downstairs. I always feel like spring really arrives when the sun shines through clean sparkly windows. (Other than that…*confession*… we haven’t done much yet!)

Decluttering is a huge part of my spring cleaning this year! It’s so nice to get so much junk out of the house!
Erin says
Clean me!
As for Spring cleaning rituals, I pretty much like to organize everything…linen closets, pantry, kitchen cabinets, etc. Also, this year is super special because it is the first Spring in our first house, with a YARD! So I have spend the last 3 weekends pulling up sod, digging up dirt, and mixing in compost and fertilizer for our garden space…so exciting!
