Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

We bought our first home last summer and we can’t wait to finally get out in the yard and plant bushes and flowers to make our yard look beautiful!

    CLEAN ME!

We’re going to head into the dark Box O’ Stuff jungle in our garage to have a look at the stuff in there that we haven’t missed in forever. What we decide we don’t need will be Freecycled or Goodwilled. Unless there really is no redemption for it, in which case, to the dumpster it goes!

    CLEAN ME!

We just bought our first house in Pasadena, CA! And we’re looking for our first puppy! Pet hair vacuum: high on the list.

As for spring cleaning rituals: I totally recommend (I totally stole this idea from Martha S.) having a small contingency of bathroom cleaning products in each “throne room.” It makes it easier to clean on the go/on the spot even when it’s not in the scheduled cleaning maintenance plan of the week.

    CLEAN ME!

I like to reorganize things when spring comes. I painted my bookcase grey and organized the books in vertical, pyramid shaped stacks. Each stack is organized by color, so i have a red stack of books, yellow, blue, orange, and a black and white stack with a few grey books in between the two.

    CLEAN ME!!!!!!

Spring cleaning…my first order of business is usually cleaning baseboards and reorganizing closets from all the winter clutter. I am psyched for it to get warmer so I can clean the garage and come up with a good shoe landing system out there, I cleaned up piles and piles of dirt from dirty shoes this winter, gross!! I added some spring flowers here and there for a little color this week as well…the house just needed a little pick me up!

    CLEAN ME

My husband and I live in a small city apartment (in Boston, MA) – all of 650 sq-ft to be exact, but try to be slightly earth conscience and grow a “fire-escape garden” every time this year. Basically some tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, sage, cilantro, mint, and anything else we can fit on our little fire escape. But of course with a garden comes soil. In our apartment. Actually, all over our apartment (I’m a bit of a klutz). So then the ritual of cleaning our entire apartment commences which wouldn’t be so bad if we had a functioning vacuum. That would make life too easy, but we, being nice people that we are, loaned our vacuum to a friend who returned it now making more of a “grrrr” than a “whrrr”. Therefore this vacuum would be highly coveted in our little home!

We could so use a vacuum that can handle the pet hair right now. It coming into shedding season and with two cats and a dog every time a sweep or vacuum I swear I have enough hair to stuff a pillow.

Anyways this year we are ripping out all of our closets and putting in IKEA PAX wardrobe systems. We are redoing the drywall around the closet opening so when we insert the PAX wardrobes into the old closet and with a bit of baseboard molding, it looks like a build in. It’s a lot of work but at this time of year it’s the only thing keeping me from shoveling my snow back into my driveway so it will melt off my lawn quicker……Yes I have the Canadian “spring is coming crazies” or what we in Canada call Igloo madness eh, LOL.
Winter I had fun sliding down you snowy curves but now I need to feel the soft grass between my toes.

My husband and I are putting our house on the market soon so this year’s spring cleaning will consist of painting baseboards and pouring a driveway as well as planting some gorgeous flowers and filling in bald spots in our yard from our dogs chasing eachother around the yard.
