Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?
We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.
Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.
- PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

My favorite cleaning thing to do is vacuum- I have two pomeranians and an assortment of foster dogs coming through my house!
But my spring cleaning (that I actually have to do twice a year in the damp northwest) that I love to do is cleaning the mold off of the windowsills, and spraying them with Lysol so it won’t come back right away.

Spring is a time for cleaning out closets and junk drawers and getting rid of stuff we no longer need. Started in the bedroom and moving on!
Nicole K. says
Clean me!!! We are doing a kitchen facelift right now so not alot of spring cleaning is happening yet. Usually, I throw open the windows, turn on the Bob Marley and Buffett tunes and declutter. After everything is decluttered, I get down to business with some serious cleaning including windows, baseboards, tops of cabinets, etc.

Clean me! This last weekend I pulled out the garden supplies and opened the windows! It was beautiful!

CLEAN ME!
My husband and I live in a tiny one bedroom apt in San Francisco, so I feel like we are in a constant state of spring cleaning, but we definitely have a one ritual this time of year, our annual paper clean out. We spend an evening with a bottle of wine, our wicker filing cabinet and tiny shredder. We get rid of any unnecessary paperwork that has piled up over the year and pull together everything we need to file our taxes.
Amy says
Clean me!
I haven’t started spring cleaning yet – still stuck on the decluttering step but I am making progress there!
April O says
“CLEAN ME!”
Oh my, my CLOSET!! It is always in need of a clean out/clean up/clear out/donate/reorganize any time of the year but especially for spring cleaning!
LauraLou says
Clean me!! I’ll be cleaning everything as I get ready to pack and move in the middle of May!

My spring cleaning is going to involve organizing our office, finishing our room/closet cleanse and then maybe a long day of dusting?!?
texasaggiemom says
My new spring-cleaning ritual is the 40 bags for 40 days of Lent. I’m slowly removing 40 bags worth of “stuff” from the house to either be trashed, donated or sold in an order to declutter the house. Makes spring-cleaning that much easier!
Thank you for the giveaway!

CLEAN ME!!
With the recent warm weather, we have already started our spring cleaning, by purging out our closets and putting away our winter stuff. A big job but it feels oh so good once it’s done!!
Lauren C says

None :-/ I’m totally procrastinating the spring cleaning. We did start working outdoors this weekend and our ritual house cleaning. I am looking forward to spring cleaning and getting rid of some stuff from the house.
Caroline Bell says
CLEAN ME: I have to have clean sheets. Every week they must be washed and I have to dust with pledge lemon scent. I just love that scent!
Hannah says
CLEAN ME! My usual spring cleaning routine is to clean out my bedroom closet. I move all the winter clothes to the parts of the closet that are harder to reach while moving the Spring/Summer clothes within reach. Unfortunately though, I’m still waiting for the chilly temperatures to leave before diving into this project…and I live in Florida!!

And my last comment should have said “Clean me!”.

Clean me! This time of year, I fight the urge to get our carpets professionally cleaned until all the mud in our back yard has dried. Greyhound + Corgi + Doggy Door + Muddy Back Yard = Daily Carpet Cleaning.

What spring cleaning adventure have we NOT taken on?! That’s the better question. Seedlings are planted, multiple trips to Goodwill have been made, added a baby room, painted multiple rooms, and so much more. A new vacuum for the many puppy fur balls on the floor would be sweet!

I SO need a new vacuum cleaner AND I am absolutely LOVING the pet-hair broom!
So anyway…we are right now in the phase of washing all quilts, blankets, comforters, etc. to get the winter bedding ready for storage and the lighter blankets ready for some warmer Wisconsin weather!

Our vacuum is so terrible. Luckily, I recently moved, so all of our closets are still neatly organized and fairly clean. But the floors definitely could use a good vacuuming :)

CLEAN ME and my hubs and our bulldogs and our Dream.
We have two bulldogs (adorable, but stinky). It’s all we can do to keep up with their shedding and slobber. HELP! :)
Dan Hawkins says

with two shedding dogs we could definitely use the pet hair brush! aside from cleaning the perpetual fur balls – we have plans for a planting bed, a cleaner garage, and some new shelves for our bedroom.

My spring cleaning task this weekend was sorting through my bookshelves and purging books I never look at.
Chelsea R. says
“Clean me!” yells our floors after reading this post! With 2 adorable pups and an inside-only cat, our poor purchased-to-clean-dorm-rooms-not-our-first-house vacuum cleaner is ready to bite the dust.
We are getting ready to buy up some of the discount tile from Home Depot and get to work on our kitchen, sunroom and 2.5 bathrooms. I think the baseboards can wait to be scrubbed until after the tile is installed! The yard and flowerbeds will be another big spring project. As a fellow young married couple in our first house, we love seeing everything you two accomplish!

I have THREE adopted pups, and more dog hair than Carter has pills! I don’t cook at all and my poor husband is left in the kitchen to fend for himself, but I LOVE to clean and vacuum! Our poor vacuum was a hand-me-down when we were married 4 years ago, and it barely works. Need a new one in order to keep up on the dog hair dilemma…Counting down the days until Spring Cleaning…
Kayce says
(Please) Clean me!!
I have already started my spring cleaning! I love to go through my closets and get rid of things I do not use anymore.
This would be the perfect treat for me. My vacuum is ancient!

CLEAN ME!
this year, I have the motherload of all springcleaning ahead of me. We recently purchased a house that has been vacant for over 1.5 years which means it is very dirty and yucky.
not to mention construction and remodel dust! yikes!
Alissa says
CLEAN ME! I’ve been searching for an affordable HEPA vacuum that does well with pet hair. We have 3 cats – Frank, Sammy and Dean – and I just found out last week that I have an allergy to dust mites :( which explains the “cold” I’ve had since last may. Just in time for spring cleaning, I guess.
