Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?
We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.
Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.
- PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

One of our spring cleaning rituals is going through our closets and taking out items we haven’t worn in a year and donating them or putting them aside for our yard sale in May.

We have got to clean out our garage! It’s been piling up with stuff that needs to be recycled or dealt with all year…here’s to hoping I get to it over Spring Break!

We are also expecting a little girl in May, May 2nd to be exact and I am hoping to finish spring cleaning by the end of March! I have already cleaned out the closets, now it’s on to windows, tiles, floors, trim work, etc. Ahhhh….gotta love nesting:)

Well, I’ve already started getting the garden ready. Digging out compost this weekend and a huge rat ran across my foot! Not very fun and kind of put me off that job. I’ve recently assigned it to the man of the house.
My list of spring cleaning projects include washing all the curtains and ironing, cleaning both cars inside and outside, cleaning and organizing the pantry, moving all the winter clothes into storage and spring clothes out as well as washing all the windows. Wow, seems like a have a lot to do! Yike.
Definitly love the number one hockey team in the world, most loved player, 87 Sid the Kid! It was amazing to watch!

CLEAN ME! I have the biggest home clean up right around the corner! My boyfriend bought a house and we’re moving in in a few weeks. This house has a mold issue, some caving in walls, cigs in the toilet, cob webs everywhere! Let’s just say it’s a scene out of the movie MONEY PIT… wish us luck!!
Cheri says
CLEAN ME! Well, our first spring ritual is tidying up for our son’s b’day party, which we did this weekend. :-) But seriously, I can’t WAIT until it is warm enough to open the windows, air out the house, and clean the winter’s grime off said windows. They SO need it.
Lisa says
“Clean Me” please!
Spring Cleaning = windows wide open + birds singing + the hum of a Bissell (hopefully – now it’s my old Hoover).

CLEAN ME! I’m a school librarian and usually postpone my spring cleaning until the summertime. I’ve started the list of projects to get done this summer and one of the biggest ones is finding new homes for the things we never use!

CLEAN ME!
My favorite cleaning/uncluttering ritual that I do about once or twice a year: I take everything out of my closet, and then hang it with the hangers facing backwards. Then every time I wear/wash something and hang it back up, I hang it normally. So by the end of the season/year/whatever, I can see which clothes I haven’t touched in months and can, with confidence, get rid of it.

I have two dogs and I feel like my floors are always screaming, “CLEAN ME!!!”
My spring cleaning rituals? Yes, I clean the windows, pull out the oven, fridge, washer, dryer and clean behind those. I also cull through my closet and get rid of clothes that I didn’t wear the past season.

CLEAN ME!!!!!!!
We just purchased our house in December and are desperatley trying to keep up with a full landscaped yard and two dogs. Spring cleaning, like it or not, has begun. We have to sweep and vaccuum almost daily to keep up with the hair and mud from the pooches. We are using the same $50 vacuum I was given 4 years ago. While it has been effective, we are trying to budget in a decent vaccuum that can handle the industrial workload of a shedding lab and schnoodle that spend there days lapping through the de-thawing mud outside only to bring it inside to take a moment to reflect. Other then the mandatory spring cleaning forced upon us by our dogs, we are also trying to clean up the patio (summertime barbecues await)and scrub the grout on our 20 year old tile. We have grand plans of gutting the kitchen and bathroom and doing new bamboo floors throughout, but for now a good spring cleaning will have to do.
Thanks for all the great ideas and wonderful site!

I’m cleaning out our closets (donating clothes), dusting those nooks and crannies in the crown molding, reorganizing the pantry, and cleaning out under the sink.

CLEAN ME . . . luckily I don’t have much spring cleaning to do this year because we just moved into a new place. So, my biggest project is just finishing the last few boxes that need to be gone though and getting everything put away!

We have two little boys… just turned 2 and 4. For their birthday party, we shoved all the extras into our room and shut the door! Need I say more? We are slowly working our way through the donate, trash, recycle bins!

I always start cleaning out the planting beds as soon as the snow melts. It helps cure me of the winter blues. This year, though, I’m also working on cleaning out the spare bedroom, including the overstuffed closet. Before long, it will have a permanent occupant and our little munchkin will need their own space.

Amanda Richardson says
CLEAN ME……PLEASE!!!!
Just to share, our old sear vacuum died about 2 months ago. My carpenter husband felt the best replacment options was a mini shop vac!!!!!! I conceeded because he swears he never has a say on anything in the house. I have choosen to us the broom for everything and roll up all area rugs in silent protest because lord knows when you turn that baby on it is nothing but silent.
Tirade over…. Beautiful weekend here in RIC so I took the opportunity to clean the wood blinds and wash a few windows.

I’m actually helping my little brother re-arrange his dorm room. I think this should count!

CLEAN ME! Spring cleaning involves all the closets and clothing donation to Goodwill. And washing windows, cleaning the car inside and out, and thoroughly vacuuming (including that space where the carpet meets the base molding).

CLEAN ME! When the seasons change, I always start by getting rid of clothes and shoes that I haven’t worn. Once the donation pile is started, it’s easy to get excited about spring cleaning and reorganizing!

Gosh I need this vacuum with the pet doodads so bad. My last one was scooped off the curb. I finally put it back on the curb. What was I thinking?!?
My last spring cleaning blitz was gutting and purging my garage. In fact, I created a whole crazy series around it, showing off a photo (and giving credit) to Young House Love! :)

Ooh – I’m crossing my fingers, toes and eyes for this one! We moved into our new home just over a week ago. Thanks to the previous owner’s thorough final cleaning, we won’t have to worry about any major spring cleaning this year and will have plenty of time for redecorating and home improvement!
