Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Spring cleaning means an airing out of our home and a serious attack on dust bunnies that the cat has been cultivating under our bed.

I haven’t started spring cleaning yet, but I usually plant flowers and vegetables in the garden, and clean out my closet as I switch over my wardrobe from winter to summer.

We started our house cleaning over the weekend by totally revamping our pantry shelves – my hubby even made an awesome recycling cart! I also took advantage of the warm spring weather today to clean & vacuum my car.

Toys- we will soon go through the toys that haven’t been used in a while and donate ones in good condition. Since our little guy is currently obsessed with vacuums (he has 2 toy ones and received a real dust buster for his birthday) we’ll have plenty to give away!

CLEAN ME! I kicked off my spring cleaning outside by cleaning out the flower beds and removing all the branches and leaves that gathered in the lawn over the winter. Next I’ll clean the gutters and, if I get really ambitious, I may powerwash the front and back porches. I love working outside in the lovely spring weather we’ve been having, especially after such a long, hard winter!

I love your blog – so inspiring! Thanks for everything!

    CLEAN ME!

As we head into Spring this year, we are actually moving into a new house (yay!). What I am most excited about purging my closet and all of the extra’s we have in the garage. While I hate packing, I love unpacking and getting rid of the stuff I don’t actually need. You would think I should do that when I am packing, but for some reason I can’t seem to let anything go when I am packing. :) Weird? Yes! :) I am happy not to have to do too much spring cleaning as the house is all sparkly clean, but I look forward adding organization!

I finally said goodbye to clothes, shoes, and linens that I’ve been holding onto for years and donated 4 trash bags of stuff. The drawer and closet space it freed up has been great. Also bought new bookshelves to supplement our old ones and organized all books in a faux “built in shelves” wall in the dining room. It dramatically changed the look of our living and dining rooms (they’re connected in a railroad apartment). They look FINISHED. It also allowed me to reconfigure the office which changed the look and feel dramatically. That room has been driving me crazy for months…now it looks twice as big!

I go through my closet & dresser (and beg my husband to go through his – does he REALLY need 35 tshirts? le sigh…) and purge away. I also enjoy getting up early on a saturday or sunday (just once – I’m not crazy, here) and cleaning the windows and storage areas of the house. Bonus points if it’s a sunny, warmish morning and I can open the windows and chase the stale winter air away.

We need a new vacuum so bad! We just found out that our new rescue pup has crazy bad allergies to dust & wool (yes, our IKEA sheepskin rug recently left our home as well) and we’ve been cleaning the house like maniacs. It’s good to have such a worthy motivation though, our house is cleaner than it’s ever been!

I have started to clean up my back patio, sweeping away the dead aspen leaves that inevitably end up between the cracks of the deck and in the fire pit. The old, spent plants get cut down and mixed into the soil so that they’ll help feed the next batch of greenery that gets put in the pots..Soon I’ll be painting the grill, and fire pit black again, readying for the summer and the fire-nights to spend with Mr. Man and the kiddos. Come on summer, I’m ready for my s’mores!
