Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?
We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.
Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.
- PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I have a TON of clothes to bring to Goodwill – I’ve been trying to implement the “haven’t worn it in a year? Give it away” rule and so far it’s been quite successful! That and it helps my closet stay nice and tidy. :)

The snow is almost melted at our house, so we’re getting ready to begin the annual spring yard work.
Small yard + large dog = mud in the spring.
(which also shows some evidence of how handy this vacuum and broom would be!)

As soon as the weather gets a little warmer, I will be cleaning the windows and window frames! The one item i have been putting of is cleaning the fridge! It needs to be done but is such a pain in the a$$!

Our spring cleaning ritual is pretty simple but very crucial … it’s having the grandparents take our two boys out for the day! We can get so much more accomplished, we don’t feel guilty about ignoring the kids and they get a fun day out with their grandparents!

We recently did a kitchen renovation, so week put the old cabinets in our basement. This weekend I worked on getting it organized and throwing out junk we don’t need.

We are in desperate need of a new vacuum! We’ve got high pile carpet and three cats. I knew our vacuum was less than awesome, but I borrowed my mom’s this weekend to start our spring cleaning and HOLY COW! I’m now obsessed with it.
We’re having people over in a few weeks, so spring cleaning has officially begun: washing windows, cleaning carpet, dusting blinds, fixing holes, painting wall marks, etc. You name it, we’ve started to do it.

I have a dog and 9 year old triplet girls – our house is always full of dog hair and stuff from all the crafts my daughters make.
Our upcoming cleaning rituals will be to see which summer clothes the girls have out grown – and to part with some toys before their birthday in July.
Love the blog,
Erin

I’m all about purging in the Spring and have slowly started to make my way through different areas of the house so I can set things aside to head to Goodwill, or go out to a yard sale. I love spring purging!

I just finished de-cluttering my clothes. These out of date and too big clothes were taking up 2 closets, 3 drawers, 2 suitcases, 2 boxes, 2 bags. Next, on to decluttering all the paper!

CLEAN ME! As for spring cleaning, as a full-time student who also works full-time, if I get the basic house cleaning done during the week, I’m doing good! :) However, once classes let out for the summer, I’d like to get my dining room painted. Does that count??

In Wisconsin, spring comes a little later but I’m really looking forward to it. It’s my favorite season. I try to keep up with it, but a thorough dusting of the house could really be done!

CLEAN ME!
I started my “spring” cleaning in January after returning from a holiday trip. I came back refreshed and ready to tackle the clutter that had been holding me down! I’ve taken a load of stuff to Goodwill (the entire back of the Highlander full!) and have a pile of things to sell on Craigslist or Ebay. Last weekend was the laundry room — much more functional all with things I already had. And, this past weekend was warm enough to tackle the garage – with the hubby’s help. I even cleaned his small tackle box! The dog is a bit confused, but even he likes the new, pared back casa.
As always, thanks for your posts and ideas. Love it!

I’ve started cleaning out kitchen cupboards, it’s amazing how much non-perishable food builds up in the course of the year! I’m checking labels and tossing some things out, planning meals around some things and donating others to the local community kitchen.

Like Hansel and Gretel, our pup leaves a trail. Only instead of breadcrumbs, it’s little blonde hairs. This would help with a deep clean and confuse the pup as to if this is really her house!

CLEAN ME!! I recently redecorated my office using stuff I already had by going through closets and repurposing things. In that process I cleaned out the closet in that room and reorganized it.

We actually went through a “spring cleaning” spurt in January – just couldn’t take the clutter anymore! But we’re getting ready to start our first garden together as newlyweds.
P.S. We have a 1 and a half year old shepherd and a kitten in the house that both shed like the dickens – we would defiantly be able to put these things to good use!

Once a month, on a Sunday morning, or Saturday afternoon, I like to turn on some podcasts of This American Life, turn it up really loud, put on some grungy clothes, take off my shoes, and sweep and mop the entire apartment.
When it’s nice outside I also open all the windows and let in a little fresh air.

With a two-story apartment in an old farmhouse and 6 kittehs, I could sure use a lightweight vacuum and pet hair broom. Will Bissell come to my house to teach my kitties to use them?
As for spring cleaning – it has commenced. My storage closet is purged and we are finishing a mini-makeover of our postage stamp-sized bathroom.

CLEAN ME! We are hoping to sell our house soon so that got us very motivated for Spring Cleaning! We’ve cleaned out every closet, drawer and cabinet in our house. It feels amazing to have a clutter free home! Hoping to keep it this way!

I’m working on cleaning out all closets (mainly clothing) – making Goodwill piles and consignment piles. I raided my pantry/fridge last week and threw away a trash bag full of out of date food – gotta work on that.

CLEAN ME!!
Spring cleaning is well underway. This past weekend was the kitchen cabinet, freezer and fridge purge. I pull out everything from the cabinets, give them a solid clean, lay new paper and toss old spices or things that I’ve forgotten about. The fridge gets emptied and cleaned and the freezer too. It is amazing white piles up over the winter. It is also to uncover items you forgot about that are still good and come up with a new recipe that week or weekend.
This weekend – closets! I usually do this twice a year, with the change of the seasons, I clear out everything, pack up for goodwill what I haen’t worn. The best part is the closet reorganization when I can get everything in order, folded neatly and just looking crisp. It is good time to realize holes in the wardrobe too and go shopping. :)
Next up – gardens. Over the winter the pots and gardens are just a mess. It feels great to get out there, get rid of the winter debris and spruce things up in time for spring flowers….and grilling season.
I love my house post a few solid weekends of spring cleaning. It feels so neat, orderly and fresh. You can open up the windows and smell the cool spring air!

CLEAN ME – I was just thinking this morning as I was emptying out my boxes into our new home…we won’t have to do much spring cleaning because it’s all new! I’m waiting until life settles down a little bit to send you the before and after pictures of our home that we gutted! It was a blast and I checked in here often for your wonderful ideas.
