Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?
We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.
Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.
- PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Spring cleaning? what’s that? I’m happy if I vacuum on a regular basis throughout the year…But spring does mean I get to re-plant my veggie garden soon – YES! And hopefully some closet-cleaning will happen as well…

Spring cleaning, I don’t really go in for the whole spring cleaning thing. I’ve never felt the need for it then, which is odd I suppose. I always feel like doing it in the fall. That’s when everything gets reorganized, things are given away or thrown out. It’s like I’m getting ready to hibernate. :)

Clean me!!! As much as I would like to get started NOW, the big melt from Snowpocalypse is creating a lot of mud-ugh! When I do get cranking, I will scrub woodwork, clean windows, clean everything.

The sun came out this weekend so I opened my blinds. Ugh, hugh mistake I could see all the dust on my baseboards. So out came my old vacuum cleaner and as I vacuumed I could see all the dust floating through the air. My fingers are crossed I NEED this new vacuum cleaner!

This year I am in the mood to throw things away…so I will start there. I usually start in one room in one corner and work my way around. I do one room at a time….walls, windows, floor, everything and then move on to the next room.

mixing in some of the dead leaves and yard-waste-recycling others, then stretching mesh over the beds so the bloody cats (!!?!???!?!(*&(*#&^$) from the neighborhood won’t scratch, pee and poop all over them and render the newly renewed soil useless. and it was good. and some garlic from last year came back up this year. :)
sarah says
CLEAN ME! Every spring I like to of course scrub the house from top to bottom. But my real favorite spring cleaning routine is– If my family has not worn, used, seen, cooked in, sat on, played with, etc. something in the past year then it needs to go! I mean- if you haven’t used something in a year chances are you can probably live w/o it. And the year timeline covers seasonal stuff that we DO use but only very rarely. Everything we get rid of usually goes into trash bags and goes to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Oh boy I am getting excited about the clean out just typing about it. Ahhh I can see the full trash bags already!
Stefani says

I’m living in a place with my own yard for the first time, so I’ve started looking at seed packets and trying to figure out what to plant and where to plant it. As soon as I’m sure there’ll be no more danger of frost, I’ll get to it.

CLEAN ME! That is my house talking especially since the current vac (it’s a name brand) hardly picks up anything even with a boost button. That should have been the clue that it doesn’t do its job. Right now trying to get rid of clutter that I have had for years and reorganizing the house. My house is hollaring “HELP ME! CLEAN ME!”
