Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

We need to tackle all the empty boxes piled up in the garage. Maybe finally clean the car now that the snow storms are over (knock on wood).

    CLEAN ME! and our family!!
We have been getting spring fever inside our house and outside… this is the lowdown of the projects we have done so far this week….
WINDOWS! So amazing to see outside in crystal clear vision!
Cleaning under the fridge, washer, salt tank, etc… (why did it take me so long!?)
STEAM CLEANING carpet on front porch (yuck) and area rug inside…
Moving furniture around for better house flow!
Taking bags of “stuff” to Goodwill…
Planting seeds of tomatoes, squash, cucumbers and green peppers….
Finally took all of the stuff out of my car and cleaned it good!!!
And, cleaning up our yard that had all sorts of stuff frozen and snow covered because we got and early frost this year and do not have a garage :(
Wow, that does sound like a list! Our son is turning five this week so we are having party this weekend… The sunshine and pending spring coupled with the party gives us much needed devotion and enthusiasm to get our house in shape! Plus it has been so rewarding, I think we will be keeping up on it!!
    Thanks for all your inspiration!

CLEAN ME and my home! I have LONG, LONG hair and it gets everywhere in the spring!

Though it’s still east-coast back and forth-ness, Spring is definitely in the air and I’ve been in a mad panic to get the last of the indoor “to-do’s” done so that I can enjoy the outdoors guilt-free!

That includes a myriad of ‘this old house’ projects including stripping the banisters and updating some of the plumbing. Bring it on!

I live in an old house with all hard wood floors, two old dogs (one a HUGE golden retriever which sheds an unbelievable amount)and one mean cat. We have to clean our floors on a daily basis or blonde hair flies through the house like a tumbleweed blowing in the wind. I would love a new vacuum, please!!!

    CLEAN ME

Ideally my spring cleaning ritual involves cleaning, sweeping and scrubbing as many items and surfaces as I can get my hands on both in and outside the house. So far this year all I’ve gotten to is the second round of cleaning up the yard. I’ve trimmed back all the dead foliage that we enjoy all winter long (breezy grasses and silver leaves on ground cover) and pruned the bushes so they don’t completely overwhelm our tiny yard when spring comes. That was the fun part – I’m not looking forward to getting up all the pet hair that has somehow accumulated in every nook and cranny of our abode…

    CLEAN ME!

Last Sunday we had a huge cleaning spree. It feels so good to finally get all the joint compound dust off the floors! We have two cats – one has very fine hair that is next to impossible to vaccum or sweep up off our old hardwood floors in a house that has forced air heat. We’re also getting a labrador in the fall… so there will be LOTS of pet hair.

Where do I start? I like to bring out new lighter decor, so yesterday I found lots of light blue and green antique bottles (My father-in-law saves everything) They look so great on the fireplace, and the look is perfectly spring. Then I move on to the cleaning…corners of the house-cracks between cabinets and floors! Anything that I didn’t have the energy to do when the cold Chicago winter was upon us!

We actually broke down and paid for someone to come in and help us clean. It was the best money I ever spent! My husband and I both work full time, volunteer, and are involved in so many other things that we couldn’t carve out the time needed for a deep house cleaning. But now I can come home to a clean house…yeah!
