Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?
We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.
Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.
- PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Garden: Now that the Spring bulbs have bloomed, we’ve pruned the roses and started planting early veggies.
House: We’ve been chasing after a new puppy and wiping up many little puddles and paw prints. Our carpets need a major facelift after these past couple of weeks!

I love giving my car its first major cleaning after winter. It usually hasn’t been washed inside or out in at least four months so once it’s all washed and waxed and vacuumed and armor-all’d, it feels like a brand new car again!

A four month old puppy and an eleven year old dog… Nuff said! ;)
But seriously, we’re still getting settled in our new home, and with the other new constructions going up around us, you gotta stay on top of the grime!

The next big clean up job around my house needs to be my garage. There’s muck from our car driving on muddy roads and dog hair like you wouldn’t believe. My furry pouch is really shedding now (she sleeps in the garage) I then hope to get the garage taped and painted, including some fab epoxy paint on the floor.

No really, clean me. Me and my black maine coon kitty are in the midst of buying my (her – she really does rule the roost, I just pay the bills and keep the food bowl full) first home! With this long haired bundle of divaness, I stay vacuuming and sweeping. This Bissell would be a God send and would ensure I get my apartment deposit back (which means more house goods!)
Right now I’m in the midst of switching out the winter sweaters for the fun spring collection, and just in time – it’s supposed to hit 70 this week.
Thanks for all the great (and affordable) ideas you post here. I can’t wait to make my home just as lovely as yours.

Spring Cleaning means organizing everything! putting away winter clothing and making the bedroom feel more “springy”. I’ve just bought a bright white down comforter… I’m lightening things up one day at a time.

We need a new vacuum so bad, and I love the concept of a pet hair broom!
Also, my ritual includes cleaning out all of the rock salt from my car, cleaning the outside windows, tending to the yard. This year we will be rebuilding the retaining wall outside.
Shelly says
Woah… CLEAN ME!!
When spring cleaning comes around I find it necessary to move EVERYTHING around. Get everythat that I missed and has been hiding out for the winter. And usually, it results in a new room makeover… what a deal! :)

Normally I do all the usually spring cleaning things– root out donatables, brave the closets, tackle the ‘junk’ drawers but I think the one thing everyone should do is clean the windows inside and out.
It doesn’t take a lot of time or effort but after a long, cold winter nothing makes a home seem more inviting that glisting windows, gleaming gold from the sunlight.

Clean me!! My spring cleaning ritual involves cleaning off the porches (front porch & back screened-in porch), power washing the rocking chairs, remaking cushions, re-screeening panels, and getting everything ready for outdoor time.

Yes, I do get the itch to do some serious cleaning every year about this time!! Before I can really get to the windows, I take down all of my horizontal blinds, lay them out on the lawn, and clean them with hot soapy water and a long handled brush. The easiest way to rinse is just with the hose, then I hang them over the fence to dry for a few hours….easy, peasy!
Sarah says
CLEAN ME! I’ve been tackling the house one room at a time, removing clutter. Lots of trips to the Goodwill store dropping of loads of stuff have been made.
We could really use a new vacuum, mine quit a about a month ago and my husband “fixed” it. It now starts automatically when plug it in instead of flicking a switch…Not to mention the layers of duct tape on it…
Love your site..I check it out daily

In a few weeks we’re getting our wood floors refinished which means EVERYTHING has to get moved out of the first floor and either to the basement or the garage. It’s an overwhelming thought, but the end result will be worth it, and with everything out of the rooms it will be easy to get baseboards and windowsills spring-cleaned!

CLEAN ME!!!
When the weather is warmer and the sun shines a lot more, I suddenly see how dirty my car is – inside and out. So I guess the first thing I would clean in spring is my car. Secondly I would tackle the closet but that may take a while as I’m trying to find storage solution in my very small bedroom. Thank you for an awesome giveaway!!!

This post couldn’t have come at a better time! I am about to move into a new place, and have needed to shop around for a new vacuum! My old apartment had hard woods, while the new place is carpeted. The old vacuum just hasn’t been cutting it lately! (What a time sucker too!) There’s no “spring cleaning” like moving! A great excuse to purge and re-organize. I’m so excited to get a fresh start on all new cleaning supplies… and a whole new home!
As a side note – I’m a new reader… found your blog for the first time yesterday… It’s been such a JOY to discover! What talent you have!

It’s just about time to really clean the windows of our apartment inside and out. It’s always remarkable just how much brighter it makes the place. You don’t realize how much of the year’s dirt and grime is coating those things.

Spring fever has hit! I need to dust the places that have gone untouched the last nine months since moving in. The fans, the baseboars, the floors underneath heavy furniture.
We don’t own a vacuum–great giveaway!

Our spring cleaning will be focused on getting rid of unused, uneccessary stuff! we live in a 650 sq ft apartment with a 2 year old and a dog (good old nyc!), so any bit of space we could free up would be great. Oh, and the pug makes hair ball/dust bunnies as big as him, sothe vac and broom would be GREAT!

CLEAN ME! Spring cleaning for me will mean transforming my daughter’s new house into a home after she moves in at the end of March. Her house is so similar to yours I must admit, we are imitating a lot of your beautiful easy on the budget renovations. I have been shopping for deals for weeks. I go to Home Depot often to buy “OPPS” paint at just $5.00 a gallon. I am very excited about this project! Thank you!

The first thing I always do is clean up the kitchen: clean out cabinets, the refrigerator, and countertops. It’s nice to put up flowers and new bright colors to remember that spring is near!

Our basement has been a catch-all lately for the left overs of home improvement projects. I hope in a few weeks to get down there and sort through everything, take old towel bars and faucets, ooops paint and light fixtures to Habitat Re-Store, and all the clothing and household items to Goodwill. It may take a few car trips!
