Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

I need a pen with black ink. For some reason blue ink annoys me — if pens were supposed to write in blue, then how come the standard printer ink is black?? AND a large legal pad.

PILOT ME! I’m a frugal paper girl and I keep papers that have only been printed on one side and use the other side for my various notes and for my kids drawings. I also just recently found the Post-it note widget on my phone and it’s my new best friend. No more writing out a grocery list and then leaving it behind when I go to the store! Also, can I just say that the Pilot G-2 07 is the best pen ever?!
Lauren says
PILOT ME! I love making lists on Post-It notes! My handwriting is so terrible though that only I can read them.

I am all about pens. Confession: in 3rd grade, the boy I liked had this awesome pink and turquoise pen. I stole it out of his desk… and I still have it. What can I say, it’s a great pen. And he was cute.

Any and all notes and scribbles are inked by one of the 5 Pilot pens that I keep with my planner so that I can color code things. Man, I love me some color coded organization.

My favorite place to jot down a note is in a spiral-bound notebook (college ruled, of course) with a pencil. I also use a small notebook and fine-tipped ballpoint pen for my grocery lists. I am quite the list-maker, as is my boyfriend, so we have a lot of options in our house. :)

PILOT ME!
I am the most OCD person when it comes to writing. ALWAYS in black pen in my planner – different colors for different subject headers, only college ruled notebooks!
I would love these! :)
Kelly says
PILOT ME!
I go back and forth between paper and digital. Either way, I always use color to help me organize. I think there’s something very satisfying about writing down something and seeing it in print–more so than seeing it on a screen.

Daffodil says
PILOT ME! I like ballpoint pens with lids — I’ve had too many accidental in-purse scribbles over the years to mess with the click-on-click-off kind. Or, if I can’t find a pen, I like to email myself. :)
Laura says
PILOT ME!! I’m a huge list-maker….often putting tasks on the list that I’ve already completed (think “make to do list…CHECK) so I start off with a little extra productivity. I love seeing written proof of all I’ve fit into a day.

Tara says
PILOT ME!
Oh man, I am so OCD about my pens and notebooks; I would easily be able to spend $500 on them (although I might also share with my partner who is equally particular – but very different). I have to write all lists on paper, with the same pen, and same handwriting – otherwise I have to start over (like if someone wants to “help” and add to the list). Also, I was probably the last person in an American law school to take all notes – and write the bar exam! – by hand. :D
