Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

I love pens and usually have a Pilot one stuck in my ponytail, but I have to transfer the messages to my phone at the end of the day because I lose paper like crazy.
Emily says
Pilot me! I love writing with sharpies and paper….I love my lists!
Heather says
PILOT ME!
I like writing things down and making list still….occasionally my phone is the only thing handy so I don’t have a choice! And I am a total pen snob… Pilot just happens to be on my top 3 list!
Terry C says
PILOT ME!
My work desk is filled with little yellow stickies… that’s my to-do list. I guess it’s my favorite method, but it’s very sad. I could use some organization!
Anna-Lisa says
Pilot me!
I’m always trying to keep all my lists on my phone, but I usually end up carrying a notebook with me anyway because I just like it better. (Or a planner where you can see your whole month at a time – you can’t really do that on the phone.)
Matt says
PILOT ME!
Lists, lists, lists and more lists.
lisa says
PILOT ME! I love the classic sticky note.
Denny Finnerin says
PILOT ME! Pilot pens are also my favorite, but I have to admit, I usually end up with a variety of pens in my purse I’ve “borrowed” from the office.

For work it’s a ball point pen & post-it notes all the way. For long term personal reminders…like my mom’s want list (I record random things she mentions so I never have to worry about what to get her for gifts).. it’s the notepad ap on my phone. For short term reminders I set my phone’s alarm to go off when I’m most likely to be at a place to address the issue.
Jolie says
PILOT ME! I always make lists, usually on scrap paper or post it notes.

There’s nothing like making a list and crossing things/tasks off once completed. The iPhone & iPad help out a lot too though!

I’m a huge fan of the G-2 fine in really any color I can find :) I use a combination of post its and a calender on my smartphone since I lost my last day planner.

PILOT ME!!
Pen & Paper keeps me organized! I would love new pens…after Christmas my husband and I were shopping at Target & I said last thing I need is new pens. We went to the lovely writing utensil isle & when he suggested I just use one from his workbag-because we have a house to save for! So, now I’m waiting patiently for the day I can splurge on pens :)

Cathy says
Pilot me! Pen. I hate pencils.
Cair says

I take notes in ink, I do crosswords in ink, I do sudoko in ink. I’m a pen and paper kind of girl.

Amber R says
Pilot Me! I usually scribble notes on random scraps of paper and my cell phone. I need to stick to one form soon though, I keep losing things!

Stacy M says
PILOT ME!! Definitely pen and paper but I always forget to bring it with me or look at it later :)
Tasha says
PILOT ME! I’m a pen addict. I bet there are easily 100+ within eyesight right now. Staples is my heaven, and the Pilot G-2s are the stuff of dreams.
Lou says
PILOT ME! I love to use a small notebook and pen, but I often use my iPhone out of convenience. The really important stuff has to go in a notebook though, without a doubt.
Megan says
PILOT ME!!
I always go the handwritten route – I have a hardbound planner I carry in my purse, which also always seems to have an overwhelming amount of pens (which I’m very particular about).
Dani says
Pilot Me! Always always always have a pen and notebook with me! I don’t know if it keeps me any more organized but writing lists is somehow soothing to me..
jill says
PILOT ME! Ha! This is funny. I was getting so frustrated with the pens in my household I just tossed a bunch and purchased a multipack of the Pilot G-2s. They are AWESOME. So more Pilot pens? Yes please! And Levenger AND Target? It’s the best trifecta of office/organizer items EVER!

I always keep mechanical pencils around. I probably have 10 different lists, on scrap paper, floating around on any given day…I could use some organization!

I always have a pen in my purse, just in case. My favorite writing utensil for my calendar, though, are Sharpie ultra fine markers. Love all the colors!
michelle w. says
PILOT ME! I’m super old-fashioned, I keep a small notebook and pen in my purse so I can take notes throughout the day when stuff comes up. If I didn’t have my notebook readily available, I would forget EVERYTHING!

PILOT ME!
When I’m at work I have a notepad and ball point pen at my side at ALL times! But if I’m at home, I usually put it in my trusty iPhone :)
Kristy says
PILOT ME! I love a good pilot pen, but I have to have a pencil when doing old school style arithmetic.
Kiki says
PILOT ME! I love Pilot products and love to keep sticky-notes by my computer and bedside so I can write down notes (the old-fashioned pen and paper way) as I think of them. I’m also a huge checklist maker–there’s something about checking something off that makes me feel more productive!
Naomi says
PILOT ME!
My favorite way to take notes is with a bunch of stickies or a notepad with my pilot G2 gel pen. I always keep a gel pen in my purse. I also send emails to myself when I need to remind myself to do something later in the day.
Kathleen says
Pilot me!! I’ve tried different list apps for my phone but can’t seem to shake a good handwritten list.
Carly S says

I’m a journalist, so there are always pens and a notebook in my purse, although since attempting to really utilize my android, I’ve started putting notes (band names to remember, appointments that I need a reminder about, etc) into my phone.

PILOT ME!
I’m obsessed with pens (it’s borderline sick) and make lists galore. Recently I got a cute green reporter notepad for my purse and capture the days’ events journal-style in a Moleskine planner in the evening. I do rely a lot on my iPhone calendar though.
Kendra says
PILOT ME! I keep a small note pad and pen in my purse, because there is nothing quite as fulfilling as a line of ink through a to-do list task.

Pens, in my purse and nearby at all times.
Terra says
Pilot me! I have to write things down the old fashioned way!
Sami says

Jil Swift says

Great give-away! I’d love to present this to my teacher-ific hubby whose responsible for buying his classroom supplies. I hope if I don’t get it, another teacher does!

At work, I don’t go to the bathroom without carrying a pen! I’m constantly being asked to sign off on stuff. It’s not unusual for me to be handed something under the stall door :)

Jessi Alia Lund says
PILOT ME!
I like taking notes with a super smooth red ballpoint. I have no idea why… red isn’t my favorite color or anything… I guess I just like being different.
Joy says
PILOT ME! I am also particular about my writing instruments. I love love love thin ballpoint pens (0.5 mm) or gel pens (0.5 mm or smaller). I have such a hard time finding pens that I like in the pen aisle at office supply/big box stores, so I end up buying them from online Japanese pen/office supply stores.
I tend to scribble notes in my planner, but in a pinch, I will dictate a note to Siri for me to remember or use the Notepad app on my phone.

I am a nursing student so I’m often taking notes until my hands hurt. I have developed a very specific note taking system. Each subject/topic gets its own Moleskine Cahier Extra-Large Ruled Journal (sold at some Targets) and the ONLY pens that I use are the Pilot G-2 0.38 extra fine point pens (usually have to buy at an art store or Amazon). My handwriting is extremely neat with these pens and the journals keep all my notes for each subject together, in one place. I’m over-sharing on this system, but I also like to carry highlighters and colored pencils with my pens and notebooks for super note efficiency!
Anna says
Pilot ME! I am a complete Pen snob and often run the ink out of the pens I use. I often write drafts out in longhand and then type them up!
Sasha says
Pilot me! I love a good, colorful post-it and an extra fine pen. I’ve been obsessed with the Pilot V5 (in all colors) for years!
