Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

I try to mostly use apps on my phone for keeping track of to-do lists (I exclusively use it for my grocery list these days) so I always have it handy!

I like to take notes with fine point pens….the finer the tip the better.
Erin B says
PILOT ME!
I admit I write most of my on the go notes in the notepad app on my phone. But when I want to sit down and brainstorm a project, nothing beats a fine tip sharpie and some graph paper (like it much more than regular lined paper because it’s not so limiting and you can sketch dimensions!).

I still love a good pen and notebook. I even keep a daily planner in my purse. I haven’t transitioned to the world of electronic recordkeeping in my personal life :-)
Carlee says

LOVE the Pilot G-2 ultra fine pen!
Christie G says
PILOT ME!
I love pretending I’m going to be organized in cute notebooks and planners, but then just end up writing notes on scrap paper around the house! Or on my iphone notes feature :)

PILOT ME!
I swear by the Pilot G-2 pens. And I take my notes on paper (despite having a smart phone) because I LOVE the satisfaction of physically crossing stuff off my list.

PILOT ME! I’m an attorney and always keep a black pilot G-2 in every purse, laptop bag, and briefcase for orders, memos or quick notes. My husband is an attorney as well and keeps a blue pilot G-2 in inside every one of his suit jackets.

Leslie says
PILOT ME!
I keep pens everywhere – purse, car, desk drawers, top of kitchen counters. I am incapable of making a grocery list on my phone. The old-fashioned art of writing with a pen and paper has a certain feeling, a weight of the pen in your hand, that can’t be matched with an iPhone or other tech.

PILOT ME!
Pen and paper. On the kitchen counter, next to my side of the bed and on my desk at work. Pad of paper and a pen. They never move so that they are always availabe to take a quick note, add something to the to do list, etc….
Leslie says
PILOT ME!!! I absolutely LOVE writing out my to-do list in pretty colors of ink… and then of course, scratching it out!
Tara says
Pilot me! I make lots of lists — usually in mechanical pencil or fine-line pen. I need to get better about keeping all my lists in a central place so I don’t lose them! I’m always starting another one.
Jenny says
PILOT ME! I love a smooth ballpoint or the Precise pens, but anything I want to keep longer than a week goes into Evernote in my phone. Sometimes I type it in, sometimes I snap a photo of my handwritten note!
Ariana says
PILOT ME!
I use pilot pens in law school :)
Stacey says
PILOT ME!
I love a good pen and paper, but I’ve been using my phone more and more.
Samantha Chapman says
PILOT ME!
I’m a ballpoint girl – I have at least 2 at my desk, 1 in my purse, 1 in the junk drawer, 1 in the car… you can never have enough pens around!
reina says
PILOT ME! My boss and I both love Pilot G2 pens! I usually have a few in my purse and a Moleskine to keep things handy… for things I need more permanently/safely I keep my notes in Evernote, greatest invention ever.
Carly says
PILOT ME!
For everyday, I’m a blue pen gal! I remember in 8th grade music class though, that rather than write words as notes, we drew a picture to recall facts about bands and music. The one class where note taking was actually the fun part!
Emily says
PILOT ME!
A pen and a lined post-in! Sometimes a highlighter to help organize.
Chelsea W. says
PILOT ME!! I am a note taking fanatic so I’m always stealing the best writing pens from my boyfriend and the local bank. Pen thievery that is…
Laura R. says
Pilot me!
I always try to become more digital, but there seems to be some subconscious need to make paper lists and notes, so I am always putting pens in my purse to make sure I have a constant supply.
Michelle says
Pilot Me!! I always have a ball point pen. I don’t use my phone for lists ever!!
Jenn says

Carolina O. says
PILOT ME!
I have a note book and separate planner with a handful of pens in my bag at all times… I could totally use a revamp to organize my life!

I keep a pen in my purse at all times but I’m trying to get away from pen and paper notes using apps or my email inbox to remember things.
Katie says
PILOT ME!
I color code and annotate with illustrations my family calendar (hearts for Valentines Day, beers for St Patricks day… I mean Shamrocks…)
audra kelley says
Pilot Me! I used to carry a little notebook and different colored pens with me, but somehow all my notebooks have become my daughter’s “let’s pretend I’m a waitress taking orders” collection. I now suscribe to post-it notes scribbled with random info. Way to be organized, Audra.
Kristina says
PILOT ME!
At work I use pencils but in everyday life I prefer to “jot” down notes in my trusty iphone. You’ll always find a BLUE Pilot gel pen in my purse though!
Abby says
Pilot me!
I’m all about the notepad on my iPhone. My purse is a hot mess so I’ve learned not to keep important papers in there. :)

Pilot me!

Laurin says
Pilot me!
While I’m trying to go more paperless with a variety of Android apps, I always carry my notebook and either my Fisher space pen or my Kaweco fountain pen since they’re both pocket sized. I’ve carried a notebook for more than ten years, but as an artist/designer I usually need to be able to record more than just written notes.
Also, I had a dream about meeting you guys last night that felt like a weird home-improvement summer camp. Weird, but true.
Cindy says
PILOT ME!
Trying to go digital for my personal note taking though… but I’m a total sticky note writer at work for sure!
Donna Jean says
PILOT ME!!
I love pens and pencils, i pretty much collect sharpies (i’m pretty sure i own every color they make!) and i’m super particular about them, too. and i rarely let people borrow them for fear of them not getting returned. i usually take notes on a post-it or scrap piece of paper, but if it is a date i need to remember (say for an appt.) i have to set a reminder on my phone or i’ll forget.
Rachel L. says
“PILOT ME!” I try to be digital at work, but in my personal life, it’s paper all the way! I am all about the paper calendar with color-coded entries. Pink for me, blue for hubby, and green for both of us. It’s the only way to keep our crazy schedules clear.
