Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

I LOVE making lists…writing them with ol fashion pen and paper is the most rewarding when I get to cross something off!
Megan G says
PILOT ME!
As an instructor I’m always jotting notes, reminders, page numbers, student names, appointments. They always eventually make it to my electronic calendar, but they usually start on paper in show way, shape or form.
Michelle R. says

I make good old fashioned lists with pen and paper. Which now line the bottom of my purse.

PILOT ME!! I am a notebook and pen JUNKIE.

Recently, at work, I’ve been using Smencils (http://smencils.com/ ) since my husband got me some for my stocking this Christmas. Usually, though, I’m a blue ink pen girl (gel, regular ball point, doesn’t really matter – but it has to be blue!)
Kelly P says
PILOT ME! I usually have about 6-8 pens floating around my purse, except for when I really need one.
Eve says
PILOT ME! I love doing my sketches and taking notes with my Pilot .7 in black or blue. My writing looks 100% worse in pencil!
Meagan Lewis says
PILOT ME!!! I usually put a note in my iPhone so I’ll always have my shopping list, etc. with me. That’s not to say I don’t love organizational notebooks and pens, though!

I still write everything down with a pen and paper/notebook. As much as I would like to be greener and just make notes of things in my phone, I never think to look back to it. I always keep my planner and a pen in my purse.
Nicole B. says
Pilot me!!!
I’m not so much a note jotter as I am a doodler!
Courtney says

I have about five different notebooks on the go for different purposes plus a pen stashed in every room of my house and every bag I own. Hmmm… not the most organized writing process.

I’m absolutely a pen girl. Pen, on whatever surface I can find. I have notebooks and post-its, but sometimes it ends up on napkins and even the back of my hand! I also keep digital notes (digital post-its on my desktop), and an online calendar (accessible from anywhere), and a metric ton of online documents. <3
Sabrina says
PILOT ME!
Pen and a post-it, but if I need to have it in my phone, I’ll take a picture of the post-it. That’s as digital as I get.
krissy says
pilot me!! i usually stick to pencils in my line of work (cartographers need erasers) but i really, really adore highlighters. they’re the best and brightest way to cross something off my to-do list.
Keryn says
PILOT ME!!
I am so all about the pen + post it note. They are ALL. OVER. my house.
Desi says
PILOT ME! :D
I keep both a pen and a pencil in my purse. I use the pencil to write things in my planner- as plans change, I can erase the pencil marks. The pen is for everything else, including writing things on my hand when necessary. I do not like making digital lists- i never think to look at them after I make them on my phone, so they are useless!
Sarah says
PILOT ME!!!
I love writing anything down, I don’t know why, but as far back as I can remember I used to write lists of random things (people on a reality TV show, favourite books/movies, etc). Oh and I hate blue pen. I don’t know why, but it makes me cringe.
Ashley says
PILOT ME! I doodle my lists more often than actually writing them. Mmy purse is ALWAYS full of notebooks and pens. :)
Emily says

I have a “clicky” Pilot sitting in front of me right now. Since high school 2D design class, have used nothing but the classic Precises until the G2s came out. Will only write with other pens if absolutely necessary. Am a little compulsive.
Natalie says

I love a stack of sticky notes and gel pens (especially at the office)!
Stephanie Joy says

I am always looking for a pen and paper to write things down. Since we moved, we haven’t quite finished organizing yet! I actually have been keeping a notebook for shopping lists and keeping it in my purse so I can always find it:)
Kelly says
PILOT ME! – I use my iPhone for nearly everything since no one can read my handwriting!

I teach kindergarten so pencils are an everyday item although I am slowly getting attached to skinny sharpie markers…
Kayla says

Although smart phones make it easy to always have lists handy, there is nothing like taking a pen to paper to scratch something off a to-do list. Definitely more satisfying then pressing a button.
Taryn says
PILOT ME!
I’m addicted to good ballpoint pens and sticky notes. I know I’m a Luddite for refusing to embrace the iPhone’s notes app, but my friends say the scraps of crumpled papers falling out of my bag lend me a certain air of credibility as the spastic, absent-minded writer type, so I guess that’s something?
CarrieK says
PILOT ME!
I’m all ballpoint pen and yellow Post-Its.
Kristi says
PILOT ME! This is going to sound weird but my favorite pens are ones you get from the doctor’s office. They always write so well! A friend of mine has a neighbor who is a pharmaceutical rep, so I’m always well stocked with those promo pens!
Erica S says
PILOT ME!
Absolutely cannot handle digital notekeeping–something about physically writing out the info helps me to remember it better. I always have pens and scraps of paper in my purse, which is currently sporting a whopping ink stain from a leaky pen :(
Rachel says
PILOT ME !!!! Pen and paper all the way. I am a post-it junkie!
Jeri says
Pilot me!
I always have a small notebook and pen on hand for my lists and random notes. That way they’re in one tidy spot. Other than the grocery list – that lives on the fridge.
Joey says
Pilot me! Pens are fun :)

I always have a pilot g-2 in blue with me and take notes in a small notebook.
Leland says
PILOT ME!
At work, I’ll write notes on a sheet of paper and scratch them off with a marker, for the satisfaction. If I’m on the go, I’ll email myself notes and links for future reference, or jot stuff down in an app called “Clear” that makes AMAZING lists.

I like to write my to do lists on neon paper or index cards with a good free flowing ink pen. Sometimes a mechanical pencil will do the trick as well.
Mary says
PILOT ME! I am a medical student and love Pilot G-2s. They are all I use when I am studying. I have recently fallen in love with the V5 though. I guess I am a pen nerd too. :)
Amanda says
PILOT ME! I prefer pen and paper. I like fine point, quality pens because I think it helps my handwriting look better… and it could use some help.
