Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

The notes feature on my iPhone holds a ton of my lists that I always want to keep handy, but when it comes to remembering appointments, I still use a desk and fridge calendar!

There’s nothing better than crossing off items on a handwritten to do list – a lot more satisfying than deleting on a digital list!

I love my pens and pencils! At work, when I find a really, really great pen, I tape my name to it so that it ‘doesn’t run off’! I’ve kind of thrown ‘a hissy fit’ looking for my special writing utensils. Not pretty, but I’m passionate! ;-)
Suzy B says
PILOT ME! I am a crazy list maker….it has to be blue pen & yellow, green or orange highlighter. It keeps me on track!
Jackie says
PILOT ME! A great pen is like a great friend : when you find them, you cherish them for years.

Pilot me!
Being a lefty, it is inevitible that I smear ink when I write and that my handwriting is awful. Add in some OCD, I try to steer clear of writing anything permanent on anything pretty. And I think electronic note taking is too time consuming. Give me a pencil- a mechanical one.
Maddy says
Pilot me! I literally just blogged about wanting an old fashion date book to keep me on track! Would love a perfect pen to go along with it!

PILOT ME! I found these great little notebooks with a magnetic cover and a little place for a tiny pen – I like to keep them in my purse to jot down anything important that comes to me at odd times (need more honey! What about hawaii for our next vacation! Read xyz new book!) Works great.

PILOT ME! I am still a huge fan of notebooks and a real paper agenda to keep me organized. I could use a stash of my own pens too, so I don’t have to keep stealing hubby’s good ones!!
Cait says
PILOT ME! My favorite pens are the cheapies – the package of 10 or 12 for $2.
Mary W. says
PILOT ME! I usually end up digitally taking notes on my phone since I never have paper on me (I always have a pen, though!). I prefer note taking in pen, but digital is starting to take over. My work to do list is currently in black sharpie marker.

I have tried various methods for note-taking. I started with all digital (love Evernote) but lately prefer jotting things down in a small moleskine notebook. I think it’s easier when I’m at the store to look at the notebook in my hand instead of constantly swiping to unlock my iphone to get back to Evernote.
Meghan says

I am old school pen and paper all the way. And while I too, am very particular about my writing utensils – it must be a super fine point, generally not ball-point – I will make lists on just about anything that will take ink: post-it, cardboard box top, my arm, a scrape piece of wood, etc.
I do love a good list!
