Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

PILOT ME!!!!
I’m very picky about my writing tools. I use only pencil for my planner and pretty colored pens for notebooks and doodles.

Pilot me!
I’m a writer, so I usually have a notebook and pen on me. The prettier the notebook the better! (Right now it’s one with a gorgeous pink and gold cover I found on clearance at Michaels.)
Emily says
PILOT ME!
I don’t really have a solid method, I’ll use whatever is handy at the moment but everything important then finds its way into my Google calendar.
Marissa says
PILOT ME! I keep a notebook and pen handy to write down to do list and meeting notes.
Cathy says
PILOT ME! I love the CLEAR app for iPhone… I keep my target list, wish list, Lowes list, and gift ideas list there. I also keep a little Field Notes memo book & pen in my purse.
Sarah says
PILOT ME! I’m a big scribble-notes-on-post-its person…then I usually take all those post-its and make a giant list when they look overwhelming.
Katie Q says
PILOT ME! Love some good pens!
Nicole says
PILOT ME!
It is a must to take notes in fun ink colors other than the typical blue or black.
Tracie@Gurtler+Home says

I pretty much always have a pen in my purse, and jog notes down on random pieces of paper that I end of searching for later.
Liz Mann says
“PILOT ME!”
I tend to use my phone because I never have a working pen handy.
tracy says
Pilot me, please! I like to keep things digital by e-mailing a note to myself.
Maggie says
Pilot Me! I ALWAYS have a Pilot Precise series pen tucked into the rings of my planner – I’m left handed and they don’t smudge!
Mary says
PILOT ME! I usually put any notes in my phone because I always have it with me, plus it takes forever to find a pen in my giant purse!
Mama Kate says
PILOT ME!I like to take notes with my purple G2 pen on tiny cute notebooks.
Pallavi says
PILOT ME!
As a banker, we get very picky about the types of ink on loan documents. Which has led to an office wide obsession with Pilot’s Dr Grip gel pens! If youre fortunate to have one, you better label that baby, otherwise its up for grabs!
Linzy H says
Pilot Me! I’m a pen and notebook kind of girl. Can’t go to anything work related without it. Favorite color of pen is purple :)
Kristyn says
PILOT ME!
I ALWAYS have pens, every color, and a notebook in my purse at all times, just in case an idea or a spark of inspiration comes to mind and I need to jot it down. Plus I have my planner with me too, scheduling and organization is extremely important to me and keeps me ahead of my game, whether it’s work, working out, or volunteering, hence the colored pens!

Currently, I think I have 5 pens in my purse. I keep certain things digitally but nothing beats a hand written note or reminder hanging around the house. If I save a reminder in a digital app it stays there, if I post it somewhere I look a lot it’s more likely to get done!

Pilot me!
I always keep at least one pen and one notebook handy. I have given into the fact that I’ll never be 100% digital. I have a pilot disposable fountain pen on my wishlist! Pick me!
Heather says
PILOT ME!
No joke, I love office supplies and stationery so much that my very first date at 14yrs. old took place at an Office Depot. Nerd alert! I’m a dissertation student and 100% not digital with my note-taking, so I’m very excited at the prospect of this giveaway.

I use my iPhone to take fast notes.

Chelsea @ Chelsea Eats Treats says
PILOT ME! This is weird but my favorite pens are the ones I’ve gotten for free from conferences, banks, booths, etc. They work so much better (and for longer!) than the ones my office gives out. Lol!
Justine V. says
Pilot me!
I am a pen-and-paper girl for my lists. Nothing beats the satisfaction of crossing stuff off as I complete it.
Lauren says
PILOT ME!
Ipad or blue pen and a notebook….both are constant companions.
Liz says
Pilot me! Those Levenger notebooks are to die for! I usually use my phone PLUS my planner to keep notes and reminders. I have to schedule in even the most mundane things like laundry or they don’t get done!
Zee says
PILOT ME! I prefer mechanical pencils – always a clean, sharp point, and of course, erasable. OtherwiseI find myself re-writing notes if they are in pen and I make a “mistake”.
Mary says
PILOT ME!
Geesh…while I wish I was one of those technologically savvy electronic-shedule-maker-and-keeper types, I most certainly am not. I use my handy daily planner and ball point pen for all business and personal appointments. I spend my 8-5 hours on the road and visitng clients so a few extra pens would definitely come in handy. I’m always losing them!
Krissy de Waard says
PILOT ME!!! please…pretty please! :)
Love gel rollers…and the satisfaction of using one to cross something off my list!
Jessica K says
Pilot Me!
And inky pens for notes always!
Laura says
PILOT ME!
I have the smartphone with a To Do app but never use it. I need paper. I write lists on a large post-it note stuck to the front cover of my Moleskine notebook. I just love to cross off the items as I finish them.
Shauna says
PILOT ME! I love crossing things off a list so even things that start out in my iPhone list get put onto good old paper so that I can cross them off.

Chrystal Turner says
PILOT ME!
I am a die hard pen and paper person, I am fairly certain I wouldn’t have made it to my Junior year in college without my life line (a.k.a planner). I’ve tried to convert to digital but for me it just doesn’t work as well as the classic pen.
Angela says
Pilot me, please!
Fountain pens all the way. My father got me started on the habit and I have loved them ever sense.

Kelly S says
Pilot me! I take the old school route with pen and paper. I love me a good gadget, but when it comes to lists I have to have them written in my crappy handwriting. Pen and paper fo’ life!
Melina says
PILOT ME!
I love liquid-y ink pens, especially in off the wall colors. For some reason, leaving an electronic note / reminder never works for me…and feels crazy unsatisifying.
Alice says
Pilot me!
I love blue, extra-fine tip pens – always have a few in my purse.
Fun fact: I hate pencils so much I did my math homework in pen in high school and college. Just hate ’em.
Pam says
PILOT ME! I always keep a pen in my purse, and I also use a lot of pencils. I like to have a variety of writing instruments (and a variety of colors) for different tasks.
