Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

PILOT ME! On the topic of the battle between pencil v.s. pen….I always opt for the pen. I normally doodle my notes down in an elaborate way. Sometimes it takes me longer to make my lists than it does to do the things on them!

I am a pen/pencil and paper kind of woman. I do all of my meal planning spiral notebooks and have my pen stuck in the binding. A young woman at the neighborhood grocery store used always look to make sure I had my notebook. If I didn’t have it she’d point it out. We both always laughed.
I also am pen/pencil at school. I tried doing the laptop thing, and while I can type faster than I can write I know that the information sticks in my head better if I write it down.

I use email reminders (calendar), post-its in my kitchen and an ongoing list stuck on my fridge for grocery items. Pen or pencil..I always make a list before stepping out of the house.

Pilot me! I always carry my Moleskin diary with me – it has a week per page plus a lined one for longer notes and lists – plus a roller ball pen. Crossing things off is too satisfying to go digital!

I have ballpoint pens all over the place, and I, too, am quite picky. Actually, my “special” pen is a $10 pilot pen, I think it’s a G6? Love that pen. I’m so picky about writing instruments and would love to win this so I could really play.
Jessica says
PILOT ME! I’m all about the longhand, and I’m also really persnickety about the implements. Love the fresh-start feel of new pens and notebooks!

I always have pens in my purse along with 8 1/2″ x 11″ scrap paper folded in half with shopping lists, to do lists, and other random info. Any appointment goes straight into my Google calendar.
Alicia says
PILOT ME! I’m a pen and paper girl to the end, and I only buy one type of pen – Pilot G2s. That’s not to say I won’t use other pens, but if I’m buying, that’s what I like. I also just discovered the cool erasable Pilot pens and they have a special place in my heart since I work with middle schoolers, and they are always erasing!
emily @ cabin fervor says
PILOT ME! I’m a stickler for writing implements myself and am oddly proud of my penmanship. I love writing with fine point pens, whether ball point or felt tip… Putting my notes on paper makes them feel more official than just tapping them onto my phone.

I’m a full time university student, and work as a research assistant plus another part time job on the weekend. I go through at least a dozen pens per semester. My favorites writing instruments are either gel pens or rollerball pen. I’m one of the few student in my class that take notes the old-fashioned way. I have lots of notebook and used them for everything, either for my classes, for work, for list or to-do things. I could not function without a pen and a notebook.
Rebecca N says
PILOT ME! I’m both digital and use post it notes. Depends on what task I’m doing!
Sarah says
PILOT ME! I use fine point ball point pens to make my ridiculous amount of TO DO Lists each day and love to use different color pens to organize categories (that line up with my Outlook as well, of course.)

When I taught 8th grade math I always had pens in every color of the rainbow all over my desk and occasionally stuck in my pony tail so I had one whenever I needed it. Who wants to correct papers in only red?

Old fashioned pen and paper. I keep a constant “to do” list at my desk and roll over the incomplete items each day. It won’t end until I retire (HA)!
Jessica says

I still prefer jotting down notes and ideas the old fashioned way with a pen and paper. We do have a chalkboard wall so that keeps it interesting too!
