Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
- ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

Rosie says
Pilot me! I absolutely love pens! So much that when I was in school friends would buy them for me whenever they saw unique ones. :) I keep saying I need to switch to digital notes, but you just can’t beat pen on paper.

PILOT ME!
I just ran up two flights of stairs in the office last night because my pilot pen died…and I couldn’t complete my work without another from our storage closet!
Kim says
Pilot me! I always have a pen & random scrap paper stashed away in my purse – definitely need to be better about having it a little more organized in there!

Confession…I steal pens. Not intentionally but I manage to acquire them, a lot of them. My husband makes fun of me and will no longer allow my contraband pens in the house, I have to take them to work or they end up living in my bag. Thanks, I feel better now…
Abigail says
PILOT ME! I am a huge fan of ultra fine tip permanent markers. And even though I do everything else on my iPhone, I still make to do lists old school style.

Nicky says
PILOT ME!
i’m terrible at remembering things – even remembering to look at a list – so i usually write on the back of my hand *blush*
although when my 2.5-yr-old starting doing it, too, i realized i should probably switch it up :/ it’s so hard to remember things as a mom, i don’t know what i’ll do now that i can’t write them on my hand!

I. love. pens.

PILOT ME! I always keep a small notebook and a pen in my purse to jot down anything and everything. I loved these purple pilot pens my old company used to keep in stock. I may or may not have raided a couple of supply rooms to grab a few of my coveted purple pens before I left ;)

i have particular types of pens i get attached to. always very fine point because i scribble in a mouse sized words. and at my desk, it’s littered with post-it notes but do usually carry a fun notebook to meetings so i look somewhat organized. :)

I always try to keep three different pens in my purse.
I have one that is specifically for my checkbook. It has a nice sharp point and the ink doesn’t smear.
Then I have one for my pocket calendar that I also keep in my purse. It has 4 different colors on it. I write my work schedule in green (green for $$$). Bills are written in red on their due date and with the amount to pay. Places to go, people to meet are written in blue. Simple reminders are written in black (example: birthdays, return library books, etc).
Then I always keep a plain ol’ regular pen at the bottom of my purse just in case. You never know when someone needs to borrow one.
And for keeping notes while I’m out and about, I keep a small hand sized note book in my purse. It holds anything that I may need to jot down on a whim.

PILOT ME! I’m a nerdy engineer, so i tend to prefer mechanical pencils.

You can always find me with a Pilot Precise V5 extra fine black pen. They are my absolute favorite pens and I have at least 20 stashed in various places around my home, car, and office. But even though I always have a pen, I don’t always have paper, so my hand has many notes, ha!
Heather M. says
PILOT ME!
I love pilot’s pens…the ink moves so smoothly! I keep a monthly organizer, and will write with dark ink, even though I end of having to scratch out notes. I usually end up with post-it notes stuck all over the inside as well. :)
Ruth says
Pilot Me!
My reminders are on post-its in pen.

Calli says
Pilot me! I too am very particular when it comes to my choice of tool for writing. I am a list girl (personally and professionally) and when it comes to keeping these lists organized I’m all about my color labeled notebooks, travel notebooks, and post-it notes with one of my many packets of my Pilot V Razor Point Extra Fine Marker pens. Talk about making this lady happy :)

PILOT ME!
As an OCD engineer I’m very particular about my writing implements. I only use Staedtler pencils and for the rare times I need a pen, it’s always a Pilot V5 or a Cross Century Classic when ballpoint is required.
darla says
PILOT ME!! I like a fine point pen with a little drag to it. Too slippery of ink flow makes my writing messy. I usually write things down in a spiral notebook :)
Suz McA says
PILOT ME! I’m a chronic list maker. After killing many trees with my lists, I switched over to a small dry-erase board that lives on my fridge. I get such satisfaction erasing my “to-dos” from my list!
Elaine K says
Pilot Me! I swear that I write better with a pen than a keyboard. It helps me to get started to at least start a rough draft with a pen.
Diana says
Pilot Me!
I love to write lists!
Nicole Hurley says
PILOT ME!
I am not good at following my lists. But I prefer to write them with a roller ball pen!
DeeJay Conley says
PILOT ME!!
Notes are usually written in pen since my pencils are all for coloring and live in their coloring pencils jar across the room. Most times I see something that sparks my interest so I grab the closest pen. Then it is written on, most times, a lined post it note. If it is unlined then I tend to write in a northeasterly fashion across the paper. My choice of pen are usually the bic crystal pens like the ones I used while in school. They are cheap and handy and I can see when my ink is about to run out. Plus, their lids make great tools for getting that grime out from under my fingernails. Ew. Where did that stuff come from?! Quick, grab a pen and get it out of there. EEEEEEEEEEEEpp.

sorry

PILOT ME!
I most often use a pen and post-it notes to make my to-do lists.
Paige says
PILOT ME! I keep two pens on me at all times: one black, one coloured. If I need to sign a check, I’ve got a classic; but if I need to leave my number, I’ve left an impression!
KMay says
Pilot me! Oohhh, pens pens pens pens!!!
I either scribble on pieces of paper I try not to lose, or put a note in my Blackberry, depending on what I’ve got on hand at the moment…
