Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

I’m a mechanical pencil kind of girl, especially when it comes to calendars and lists.

PILOT ME!
I love to make lists, write notes, scribble messages, and doodle with fun, colorful pens. My favorite kind of pen is one that writes “smooth” — does that even make sense? ;)
Katie says
Pilot me! I LOVE school supplies!

I’m a diehard BLACK pen fan. You’d think that would make me hard to live with, but both my mother and fiance are diehard blue pen fans, so we’re all able to jealously guard our pens without fear of theft. Though occasionally, we will move them on one another and leave ransom notes.

I try to use my phone but it’s not as effective for me as pen & paper.

Pilot me! I come from generations of list makers, so I have dozens of writing utensils in every bag! I always carry a pencil in my back pocket because pencils cannot explode ink over your denim :) I need to carry my symptom / food / exercise diary and you will always find a click-pen in there!!
Sarah says
Pilot me! I always scribble on a pad of paper with a pen. They’re the easiest things to get your mitts on!

I am partial to my Pilot Dr. Grip that I’ve had since…7 years now… I now have three (strategically located around the house), and my family knows those are “my pens.” I usually take notes on a little scrap of paper, and then transfer the important ones into the margins of my day planner.
Abigail says

I have a pad of paper and pencil in pretty much every room of my house. But lately, I’ve become more and more of a fan of Evernote on the iPhone and iPad so that I always have the list(s) on hand when I’m out and about.

Metal mechanical pencils, a separate eraser, and engineering graph paper. That paper is fantastic for drawing: The grid is printed on the back of the page, so as you write on the pad… Graph paper. As soon as you rip the page off, it’s a blank page with a perfectly draw schematic on it. <3
Amanda says
PILOT ME!
I’m very particular about what pens I use. For day to day, I normally rely on G2s but for fancy things like scrapbooking and letters, I use Staedtler Triplus Fineliners. Swoon!
Georgie says
PILOT ME!
I keep a pen in my purse, and it’s one of the good ones, so I watch it like a hawk if someone asks to borrow it for even a second!
Laura says
PILOT ME! I always love a nice pen. I like to journal, but I find I won’t do so if I don’t have something a step above your regular ballpoint pen. I also love mechanical pencils for work.

Pilot Me! Pilot gel pens are my favorite pens. I always had to have blue ink to take my notes in college. Nowadays, I usually jot down quick notes on my iphone.

Danielle S says
PILOT ME!! I always have a pen on me, usually more than one. I take notes all over the place, especially on the backs of envelopes at home and Post-It’s at work. I have to go through the piles every so often and put the keepers in my notebook. <3 Pilot pens.

Oops.. I submitted before I told you that pens are where it’s at! The smooooooth writing ones! Pencils are too squeaky-scratchy for me.
Karen says
PILOT ME!
I’m probably odd in that I prefer to write with a ballpoint pen. I’m persnickety in that I really hate it when the ink skips or smears. I’ll throw the pen immediately in the garbage. Perhaps I’ve just never used a really great pen…
Cheryl says
PILOT ME! I usually love to make paper notes. I always have a pad in my desk for that purpose and at work I have to have a constant handwritten to do list, but lately I am getting a little more hi tech and using my I phone reminders app for things when my list gets too long to remember.
