Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

PILOT ME! Oh please oh please!
Though I can’t live without my computer, I really would cry without pens. I’m constantly writing grocery lists, notes to my husband, to-dos, and everything else. But most of all, I’m an old-school letter writer- using stamps and the postal system. So as long as it’s by hand, any kind of writing will do!

I’m an analyst so it’s gotta be a pencil.
When I complete a task on my never ending to do list I use a bright green highlighter to check it off…very satisfying

I write in pen. Ballpoint, usually. Blue, preferably. DH writes only in pencil – one of the few and minor differences between us.
Kellee says

I am a habitual note writer – post-its, notebooks, hands, napkins, smartphones, you name it. Perhaps some new supplies would help my sad mess of miscellaneous notes everywhere…
Anna says
PILOT ME!
I love pens. Especially ones with colored ink. Fancy mechanical pencils also fall into the category of inanimate objects I will compliment on how pretty they are.
I make paper lists pretty routinely and carry a tiny notebook to list things like books I want to read, or things I need to keep an eye out for at Goodwill. I also tend to make lists for myself on facebook or email them to myself if things are time-sensitive. I got an ipod touch recently which has been really good for integrating my two habits.
Jordan says
Pilot me! I love pens in fun colors like purple and green. It just adds some fun to list making and one of my least favorite past-times… grading papers (Im a teacher!)

I’m all about a ballpoint pen and post-it notes.
Rachel says
PILOT ME! I’m a fan of Post-It notes at work, but any other time I use the Notes app on the iPhone. I’m a sucker for lists, and that way I ALWAYS have it with me!
Brittney Everett says
PILOT ME! – I love writing in Black Ink! It’s my favourite! I keep a pen in my car under the radio, I keep on in my purse, I have one by the coffee table and my husband is a grad students so he has pens all over the place!

Pen over pencil any day!! I keep a ball point pen in my planner that goes EVERYWHERE with me. I tried using my iPhone for this stuff but I prefer the “old school” method, good ol’ pen and paper.
Carter says
PILOT ME! I always have a pen or three on me at all times, and at least one in every purse. Most of them are cheap freebies left over from law school, but I would LOVE to improve my pen quality!!!

I’m a sticky note jotter. My fave – the Pilot Frixon pens – if you make a mistake you can erase or use heat to remove the ink. Awesome!

I’m a sucker for a .7 soft lead pencil!

PILOT ME!
I’m working on being more organized in 2013 (hello planner and planner accessory shopping!) but my tried and true method currently is to save old envelopes. We had a baby last year, so most of my card envelopes were saved. I use them (most just have my name on the front, and blank backs) to jot down to-do lists and grocery lists…even weekly menu’s that get stuck on the fridge. Re-using what we’d otherwise just throw away!

I love pen and paper for my work to do lists, but for personal errands and grocery lists, I use my phone. No idea why it is! My fiance constantly “borrows” (and keeps) my pens, so this would be a big help to us!
Jolie says

I have always used the plain bic, but maybe this will convince me that the life of luxury is the way to go!

I, too, am also Pilot-pen crazy. I’m a writer and when not typing, I’m drawing character descriptions and chapter timelines with black Pilot Razor Points, exclusively.
love. Love. LOve. LOVe. LOVE.
K (Barking Babymama) says
PILOT ME!! Even in our digital age, I still prefer to see things written out on paper in front of me – I love black inky pens, and any fun colors too (just not blue).
Mia B says
PILOT ME! I have a running list of “house to-do’s” on my phone, but it’s a never-ending list that I add to digitally whenever I think about it. For my daily/weekend list-making, I love jotting a list. We swear by Pilot G2 pens and have for about 15 years – back when my hubby was a waiter he decided this was THE PEN and we’ve had pretty good brand allegiance since then!
Erin says
PILOT ME!
I write everything in long hand, in pencil. Drives my coworkers crazy since it looks so weird.
Isabel says
PILOT ME!
I’m antiquated with my trusty pen and pad of paper. Although I’m trying to upgrade my system with a calendar this year. I dream big.
Heather says
PILOT ME!
I jot down quick little notes on my iphone, but I always reach for a pen when it’s important. I like to keep things official (and I loooove sticky notes that I can stick to the bathroom mirror…or my boyfriend’s forehead)!
Katie says
Pilot me!
I use a mix of pen and paper and the phone. However, the satisfaction of physically crossing things off is much better than merely deleting them from the notepad on my phone!
mp says
PILOT ME!
I use a good pen (prefer blue ink) and a notebook I keep in my purse, along with a day planner to schedule appointments and such. I know my phone can do these things, but I prefer the old ways, probably because I’m an old person.
Ashley C. says
PILOT ME! My favorities are felt tip pens and fine tip Sharpies.
Charlotte M says

Precise V5 RT Pens are the best pens in the world. I use them to right absurdly long lists in my planner but I find it extremely satisfying when I get to cross things off! This might also be the best giveaway ever.

I’m all over the place. Lots of digital because it’s always with me but if I want to REALLY remember something writing it down longhand is key for me. I love a good pen or pencil and fun pads of paper — they’re everywhere here!
Katie says
Pilot Me! I always have a pen and small notebook with me to jot down notes. Or, I tend to still write reminders, high school style, on the back of my hand with a pen!
Jessica Erin says
PILOT ME!
I’m an old-fashioned, pen-to-paper kind of girl when it comes to taking notes. You can’t doodle with a keyboard!
Emily McC says
Pilot me! While I love a retractable pencil, I’m mostly a pen girl. I love fine point markers and ball point pens for smooth glide. And its always over a post-it note…lined..even better :)
Catherine @ A Spirited Mind says
PILOT ME! I take notes on everything (back of receipt, bottom of Kleenex box) although I do keep lots of notebooks and notepads around. I am more disciplined about the way I take notes on things I’m reading (I do that in word documents I can file by topic on my computer). For writing implements, I use a lot of those free pens. We have a lot of free pens around, from clients, realtors who want us to sell our house, hotels we stayed in once, etc. Most of them are of dubious quality, but I did get one awesome pen when I was in Canada on a business trip in 2003 that I still use. Probably it’s a Pilot pen in disguise.
Greg says
PILOT ME!
I still keep shopping lists and meeting notes with a pad and a pen. Task lists and project notes are digital.
Josephine W says
Pilot me! I’m old school and still prefer to jot things down with pen, on notebooks I can fit in my bag. And I’ve found the pilot pens are among the few that don’t smudge if you’re left handed like me!
