Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
- ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

PILOT ME! On the go, I use a lists app in my phone but it’s not the most efficient. I would love a better option.
Dina says
PILOT ME! I luuuuurve Pilot G2 pens… they’re my favorite! I tend to write on whatever sticky is available. Not the most organized method, I know.
Hillary says
PILOT ME!!
I have terrible handwriting but it looks somewhat decent with certain pens. I always try to remember which pen that is and never can (thus my poor penmanship saga continues)…
I definitely love to use pens to write lists–all in the name of improving the chicken scratch of course–but the list always get lost, destroyed, taken by aliens, etc.
Maybe I’ll win and can try out every pen until I can find THE ONE that will transform my handwriting into a sophisticated and often complimented John Hancock–haha!

PILOT ME!!!
I tried using my phone for lists, but really, for me, nothing takes the place of pen or pencil and paper.
What a fabulous giveaway and a great way to start the new year- organized!
Danielle says
Pilot me! And I scribble down notes and to-do’s on a medium-sized spiral with a black pilot pen. It’s the only pen I allow in the house!

Kelli says
PILOT ME! I favor good, old-fashioned pencils and my handy dandy Moleskine notebook. The only thing that makes me sad about pencils is the smear factor.
Amanda says
PILOT ME!
I am very moody about my writing instruments. Pencils for math, ball point pen for lists and notes, but recently we finally upgraded to smart phones and I am giving that a try for more of my lists so that my daughter can’t scribble all over them anymore.

While I do a lot of note taking on the computer, if I really need to brainstorm, I prefer the pen and paper method because it really helps to solidify my thoughts.
Alex W. says
Pilot me!
I rely heavily on my boyfriends’ memory to keep my agenda up to date. Otherwise, things are scribbled on my hand, on scraps of paper, in a planner, in an email to myself… etc.
Amanda says
PILOT ME!
I use a Pilot G-2 like the one pictured above. I think I have 15+ colors and multiples of each. Over the years I’ve even convinced friends and family members to switch to these pens!
Micha says
PILOT ME …!
The chalkboard in the kitchen is getting a regular work out; so much, in fact that we plan on adding another one to our hallway :o) And then there are pencils. As the mother of a Montessori kid there is nothing better than having a stash of cool funky colorful pencils
Tracie W says

I’m not a fan of pencils; when I use a pen for my lists it just seems more “GET THIS DONE” and permanent.
Jany says
PILOT ME!
I always carry a pen in my purse!
Ann J says
PILOT ME! For to-do lists it is all about the scrap paper and pen. Dates, appts and such go right into the smart phone, or they don’t happen.

Nothing like a good ballpoint pen for me! :)
Kelly says
PILOT ME! I love to take notes for shopping etc on my phone since I always seem to forget my list and home and then walk out of target with way more goodies then I planned on buying!

Pilot me!
I do a mix of all those – reminders go on my phone, but when it’s inconvenient to do that or I’m in class then they get written on paper with my favorite pen, a Pilot Precise V5 in black or blue.
Emily says
PILOT ME! I love pens and pencils and markers and notebooks. Pilot pens tend to be my favorite. My VERY favorite is a Dr. Grip combination pencil/pen that I carry everywhere since it does double duty– pencil for writing in my calendar (since stuff changes all the time) and a pen for everything else. :)

I’ve always wanted a levenger circa! I prefer to have a clean mix of hard copy and digital. I have an iphone and I definitely have Siri remind me of things but there is nothing better than keeping everything cleanly together in my planner! For 2013, I am aiming to keep it up to date and with me at all times!

I am a huge list person and it drives my hubby crazy. Thankfully, many of my smaller lists are now on my phone, but when I really want to feel accomplished, I write it all down so I can cross them off. :)
Krista says
Pilot me please!! I use Sharpies for everything. The more colorful the better. You should see my color-coded 2013 calendar. It’s just beautiful.
Megan D says
Pilot me!
I too am picky – so much so that I had my mom bring me a whole set of Pilot G2s when I was studying abroad. I tend to take notes on any piece of scrap paper lying around, which isn’t the best system.
Joel Willison says
PILOT ME! I almost barely take notes but when I do, I use whatever is available – marker, pen, etc.!
