Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

I have tried over and over again to go digital but I just can’t. I like writing too much. It’s much more free than typing. I want to write in the corners and on the sides (and maybe draw some pictures!)
Christine says
PILOT ME! I always keep a pen and small pad of paper in my purse to track the to-dos that pop into my head randomly.
Christin says

I’m a 90% digital girl. I love apps like Penultimate for taking notes, but I also love the feeling of writing a note out in a nice leather bound notebook.

Post-it notes. Scribbled everywhere.
Bethany says
Pilot me!
At work I’m all about pencils so I can erase, but at home I use pens to jot down notes and make lists. Keeping lists in my phone just isn’t as fun as writing things down on paper and being able to cross them off!
Jessica says
PILOT ME!
I have a small planner and love pens that write thick- if that makes sense ;) Post-it notes and a calendar on my fridge are also a must!
Rikke says
Pilot Me!
I’m a fan of the pen and paper (and actually quite particular on the types of pens I use) if I’m taking a few quick notes. But if I’m in meeting(s) for work I prefer my computer – I’m much faster at typing than I am at writing. And it’s definitley more legible.
Tif says
PILOT ME!
I usually write my notes and reminders on the back of my hand!

Jenn says
Pilot me!!
Even though I work on a computer all day, I love to take handwritten notes and generally write things down whenever possible. And in fact, I actually am also extremely picking about what I write with and only use the Pilot Precise V5 in black. I’m a huge nerd. :)
Kim S says
PILOT ME! I’m all about a Post-it note written with a ballpoint pen! The few times I’ve tried to use my phone I’ve completely forgotten I even made the list on there (out of sight, out of mind…I need something flourescent to stick in front of my face!)
Heather W says
PILOT ME!!!

If I’m taking notes for a class there is nothing like a pen and college ruled notebook. For To Do lists yellow legal pads and a really good clickable ball point pen rock my world. And for everything else, theres my iPhone. I cannot be held responsible for any scheduling item my phone doesn’t know about!
Lindsey says
PILOT ME!
I’m a theater critic, so having a reliable pen is super important to me. When it comes to organizing my life, however, I totally prefer mechanical pencils for my trusty old-school planner. You never know when something is going to have to change!
Sydney says
PILOT ME! I am a hybrid of pen + paper (always writing lists) but like to stay organized with dates/calendars in my phone.
Nicholas says

I’m pretty addicted to my iPhone notepad and reminders, but boy, a coworker of mine uses Levenger and it seems amazing. It could convert me back to the dark ages.
kara @ launching our life together says
PILOT ME!
I’m not particular about my writing tool. As long as it doesn’t bleed through. Or stay wet long enough to smudge. Or has a cap. Or maybe I am particular. Thanks for the giveaway!

Anna says
PILOT ME!
I take pens, pencils, sticky notes and small notebooks everywhere. I tend to be forgetful, so writing everything down is really helpful (to-do lists, ideas, assignments, projects, etc). I appreciate technology, but I’m a pen and paper kind of person!
Kelsey says
PILOT ME!
I use the standard yellow lined notebooks for work, and end up leaving personal notes and to-do’s in the margins…it gets pretty messy and illegible sometimes.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Kathryn H says
PILOT ME!
I always have a pen with me at all times because I only write notes, never do digital. I’ve been known to hide my favorite pens so other people don’t take them!
Kirstin says
PILOT ME!
I love fountain pens. I always used them in school. They don’t have to be messy – I always had the kind with cartridges. They just write so smoothly and my handwriting is better when I use them.
Stacey says
Pilot me! I love a good to do list jotted down on post-it notes. So it can both get crossed off and thrown away!
