Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

There is one pencil stuck to our refrigerator with a magnet, and I use that one for all notes because it’s the only one I can ever find!
Sarah T says
PILOT ME! I write down EVERYTHING (to do list, books to read, decorating ideas and shopping lists) in one journal that I keep with me in my purse. Works great for me!
Meredith JONES says

I’m all about the pen! And I actually use Pilot pens most of the time at work! There are times that call for a pencil, and I think we have ONE pencil in our house… so it can be a bit of a task to locate it when needed…
Side note : I FREAKING LOVE TARGET. lemme at that gift card pleeeasseeee

I make lists of my lists, so I have to have a fine point pen on me at all times. The finer the better.

I will always write with a pen and paper rather than take notes on a smartphone or computer. My desk is covered in post-its with to-do lists and reminders!

I always use a pencil for my monthly menu planning, but use my ball point pens for my other calender, to write cards, and to make my daily list.
Megan says

I’m a paper and pen kind of girl.
Jessica says
Pilot Me!
I’m a teacher and I jot down to-do lists on paper, but they always get lost. I have more luck using gTasks on my phone.
Laura P says
PILOT ME! I love pens with colored ink just to add a little fun to a boring old note!
Kendall says
Pilot me! I’m all about putting pen to paper and making lists that I can scratch off.
Vince Mitchell says
PILOT ME, because unless I have to use another pen I search out my Pilot G2s for everything I write!
Melody Strayer says
Pilot me! I am a “find-whatever-scrap-of-paper-like-an-old-reciept-from-Halloween-and-a-nubby-crayon-that-your-kid-lifted-from-Applebee’s-when-you-ate-there-in-June” (and then hope I remembered that I crumbled up my “important” note into my jean pocket before I wash it… I usually don’t.) I definitely could use some discipline in this area (and I have an iPhone so there is no excuse!!)
Meghan says
Pilot Me! I love a good pen. I can often be found on the office supply aisle in stores!
Susan H says
Pilot Me! I’m a high school English teacher and make a bajillion to-do lists on my yellow legal pad with black ink pens! Not blue–gotta be black for some reason! :)

I always, always have a pen….and they’re always the random ones you get because you sign something and accidentally walk away with someone else’s pen!! Oops…I guess I save a lot of money on writing utensils that way haha!

When I remember to have a pen on me, I love to write things down in a list fashion…crossing things off my list gives me a great sense of accomplishment. However, most often I take pictures of things/ides/reminders on my phone and keep track of things that way.
Jen says
PILOT ME!
I always take handwritten notes, but preferably with a pen that doesn’t smear, since I’m left handed!
Frannie says
Always a pen, never a pencil!

I am a sucker for a cute notebook and pens so that my notes look fun, even if the content isn’t.
Amy says
Pilot me!
I keep at least one pen with me at all times, to jot notes in a notebook I keep in my purse, or on a Post-It to stick to the back of my iPhone (my low-tech version of a planner). As a teacher, my world doesn’t turn without a plethora of pens and notebooks! :)

Pilot Me!!!
Oh, I still scribble my notes with pen, even though my handwriting is getting worse with age. And, I use Pilot pens! They aren’t the G2 because I think those are the gels.. but they are the normal ink pens just like those!
I also love the hard cover 8×10 lined notebooks with all of the fun graphics all over them. Cool, stylish, and oh so retro am I. :)

I always have a pen (or 3) within reach. Writing things down helps me to remember them better, which is good, since it is getting harder and harder to read my own handwriting, anyway. :)

In college all my notes were color coordinated depending on class.
Sabrina says

Pens all they way, on unlined paper. I hate lined paper. My ideas need to flow freely from the pen any where they may choose to go.

PILOT ME! (Cause I’m feeling so fly like a G…2)

I am known for having multiple pens in my purse at all times (would you like blue, black, ball point, felt tip?) but I also enjoy keeping notes on my phone. My new favorite app is Any.Do since I love the feeling of crossing things off my list.
Jillian Anderson says

I have a small moleskin notebook and pen in my purse. I also you a notes app on my phone but prefer the actual paper and pen.
Jill says
“PILOT ME!” I love a fine felt tip pen and good ol’ post-its. I can’t give them up to my iphone… I still love to write things down.
Darlene says

I’m old school – no electronic lists for me. I still love to send cards and notes written in longhand; it’s just more personal that way.
Meerasedai says
Pilot me!
This sounds excessive but I keep two work journals, one for meetings, ideas and lectures, and another for current projects and experiments. Then I have a small journal for my purse to note down everything else. I also have my calendar synced between all my devices, and three different calendars in it so… Yeah. I swear it works!

PILOT ME!
I always carry 4-6 pens in each purse to be able to take notes at any time. Notes for articles, meeting follow-ups, general inspiration, meals I’m eating, etc. I also always have at least 2 notepads going (1 for meetings, 1 for articles), and lots of pens on my desk. And use my phone too for quick notes that need immediate action.
Holly says
PILOT ME! (please) I work from home & take notes constantly!!! Pen & pad always on hand! : )

Pilot me! I always need a fine point pen to write with and has to be blue!
Leanne says

I have multiple pens and yellow notepads stashed all over the house. I usually have at least 3 different notepads going at once – my husband is constantly finding random lists. The conversation usually goes something like this: “Honey, is this the one you’re looking for?” “I don’t know, is it on a yellow piece of paper?” “Ummm, they ALL are…” Ha ha!
Megan says
Pilot me!
since getting my iphone, I use the notes app to write down lists and what not
Lori says
Pilot Me! Please
I’m a teacher and I almost always use pen, except for when I use pencils, or my i-pad
Alexandra says
PILOT ME!
I used to be very peculiar about my pen and paper: I would use only a certain kind of gel pen, that dried out almost as fast as ink, without seeping through my paper. However, since a few years now, I’ve switched to electronic note-taking, and my life has completely changed. Which is not to say that I’m not still enjoying a good pen from time to time :)
