Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

PILOT ME!
The right pen makes a huge difference! I use different pens for different tasks – pilot erasables for note taking, sharpie no-bleed (with the silver caps) for sketching, and disposable fountain pens for writing letters….
Rachel Hassman says
PILOT ME! I love Pilot pens, they were all I used through college!
Amelia L. says
PILOT ME!
Definitely pen & paper. LOVE the Pilot V5 RT and index cards.
Anne says
Pilot Me! I love taking notes with fountain pens, mainly because that’s how I was thought to write in Germany when I was younger. If I can find a nice flowing ball point pen, then I make sure I keep it safe. haha :)
Lisbeth says
PILOT ME! I have a variety of pens, permanent markers, pencils, and highlighters in my purse at all times. People make fun of me, but they know exactly who to go to when they need to scribble things down!
Melissa says
PILOT ME!
Clicky pen all the way! Unless I’m doing math problems….there’s bound to be mistakes so I need some eraseability.
Danielle says
Pilot Me! I love pens…I have an entire drawer of them…some may call it an addiction :)

I try so hard to write notes digitally to keep the piles at bay, but there is something so easy and satisfying about writing things out on a cute little notepad. Who cares if you won’t be able to find the note later because your 2 year old decided to color on it and toss it in the garbage without you noticing because that’s the new fun thing to do! :-)

Black, ultra-fine rolling ball pen on a notepad.
Ginger says
Pilot Me! I rather use pen and paper and have always preferred the pilot pens.
I have used my phone on the rare occasion that I didn’t have a pen handy!

Oops forgot to say pilot me!

Pilot me!
I’m a writer, so I always have a pen and notebook in my bag. I don’t bother with pencils. I find erased and rewritten writing is a lot uglier than just putting a line through something :)
These days I use my iphone for pretty much everything except brushing my teeth and doing laundry. I’m just waiting for those apps!

Ashley says
Pilot me!!! I still have to write everything down and can’t get used to the calendar on my phone. Always a pen, I hate pencils and would rather scratch out any mistakes with a pen than use a pencil.
Nicole M says
PILOT ME! I attempt to keep organized with my Levenger notebook. Not working so well these days…perhaps I need a new one!
Lynette says
PILOT ME! I’m ole’ school — hand written notes with little doodles all about…

There can be only one.
Pilot Precise V5 Rolling Ball Extra Fine Black
and I have a variety of tiny spirals and memo books that travel around so that I can write things down as I think of them. If I’m at the computer I keep extensive lists in excel. If I’m feeling fancy schmancy I buy a small watercolor pad to draw in and make lists and doodle. Did you know that you can use a water brush on your rolling ball ink? I picked it up here:

PILOT ME!
While I’m not picky about the style of pen, I prefer to blue or purple ink, especially when taking notes. And I despise erasable pens – as a lefty they erase as I write!
Marilyn says
PILOT ME!!
Pens, pencil, post-it.. Heck I’m not past a crayon and an old receipt.
Kim A. says

I am all about the pen and paper method! I particularly prefer thin tipped pens and post-its. I don’t know what I would do with out either.
Meri says
Pilot Me! I’m an old school pen to paper kinda gal :) I’m a pen snob and swear that different pens can make or break my handwriting :)
Mary Smitley says
Pilot Me!
I love a good pen and paper (old fashion, I know).
Jen says
PILOT ME!
I wish I could do the list thing on my phone but I still find it so much more convenient to scribble (in pen, always) on a pad of paper. I hate walking around the grocery store always having to keep tapping my phone so the screen doesn’t shut off; with a crumpled up list, you don’t have to worry! Plus, I love buying pretty notepads. :)

PILOT ME! I think this giveaway was meant for me, as I have a office supply obsession. My pen of choice is the Pilot EasyTouch. Always pen, no pencil, and I use the EasyTouch in blue and in black.

I’m constantly jotting notes on scrap paper, but I always find I lose it. The phone is a much better option, but I don’t use it as often as I should.
Nic H says
PILOT ME!
I love fancy pens but never spring for them since I’m a poor graduate student!
Jen says
PILOT ME!
Can’t go wrong with a ball point pen and some post-it notes.
Amanda says

I love to scribble notes on my calendar! Alas, Pilot is also my dog’s favorite brand. He likes to create “art”. Sigh.
Cindy says

My fave is a blue Frixion pen. It erases perfectly and feels great.
My Second Choice is any Pilot pen in Purple ink.
Tonya S says
PILOT ME!!
I keep both a pen and pencil. The pen is for things that are set in stone. I wouldn’t survive without my planner/calender!
Kelly says
PILOT ME!
I’m addicted to notepads and pens… and sadly use neither enough to justify the amount that I spend on them! So lately I’ve been using my iPad and a note-taking app so I don’t have notes strewn all over the place.
Clare says
Pilot me! Depends on the notes. My to-do list is a note on my phone so I always have it with me, but I’m a student so class notes get typed on my computer (because I’m a faster typer than writer.) I still maintain an assignment notebook, though, because I like to flip through pages and have things laid out. And I always, always carry a pen in my purse!
