And the randomly selected person who’s starting their new year off with prize is… Jennifer (who answered this week’s question with a Canadian folk lyric – which I had to look up, mind you: “Lukey’s boat is painted green, Ha, me boys!”). Congrats Jennifer!
Raise your hand if you know what a bathymetric chart is. I didn’t before this giveaway, but it’s basically like a topographic map for what lies underwater. But the more important thing to know is that the married duo behind Below the Boat turns these charts into gorgeous, laser-cut, hand-assembled works of art. They’re beautifully intricate and fascinatingly detailed. And they’ve got lots of bodies of water from the east coast, west coast, and even some lakes in between. One of you is gonna win up to $300 worth of bathymetric chart-y goodnesst this week. So… ahoy!
- PRIZE: Any single framed map up to $300 (or any combination of two maps that add up to $300) from Below The Boat.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BOAT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …if you had to venture out on a boat, what kind would it be? Would you opt for a luxury cruise? Venture out on a sailboat? Are you more into kayaks or canoes? Maybe you’d like living on a house boat? Or perhaps any kind of boat is your ultimate nightmare?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 2nd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)

BOAT ME! However, I don’t do boats :)
Leigh says
BOAT ME! Sailing on Grandad’s boat is pretty great, as is kayaking with family. But now, with little ones, a Disney cruise with child care sound amazing.

BOAT ME! I would go around the world in a small boat and see everything, like yuppie kids always say they’d do but BETTER: pick up a sailor lover somewhere in Tripoli, fight off pirates together, go around the Panama Canal and live off of plantains for three weeks.
Or a canoe in the style of a Moonrise Kingdom khaki scout’s to paddle down the river. And after all that refreshing roughing-it-in-the-wilderness, it would be nice to come home to a warm hearth and cleanly stylish house with a framed bathymetric chart map hanging up on the wall! ;)

BOAT ME! Since my husband is retired from the Navy we want to go on an Alaskan cruise so he can enjoy the trip with someone else at the helm.

Boat me! If we’re shooting for the moon, I’d take a luxury yacht to see the world. Barring that, anything but a 3000 passenger cruise ship will do nicely.
Elayne says
Boat Me!!! It would be on my dad’s 35′ Ericson sailboat and I wouldn’t care where we were going as long as we’re on the water. My father had some health issues so this past summer was the first time in 25 years that I didn’t spend weekends on the boat.
Janice F says
BOAT ME! Smaller luxury cruise someplace warm or barge in Europe. Happy New Year!

BOAT ME… We went on a cruise to Alaska 2 years ago. I have to say while I did not particularly enjoy my time on the cruise ship, I did really enjoy the kayak trip we took.
Suzanne says
BOAT ME! I’d venture out on a Sea Ray 360DA. I was on the new model integration team so saw that boat progress from sketches on a boat all the way to the completed yacht roll out the manufacturing facility on the plant. I love going out on the water, but just don’t ask me to get out the boat into the water!
Laurie Schricker says
Boat me! A nice yacht somewhere warm with clear blue water so I can see “below the boat”
EleanorMcKenna says

Boat me! I would go out on my Daddy’s fishing boat and catch me some fish!
