After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

Fabric me! I like that few people have my name ;)
Sandi says
FABRIC “E”
My husband’s name is Fabrice which means “work with the hands” or “fabricate” in Latin. I am banking on that as we tackle our first reupholstering project. His parents chose it because it is easy to pronounce in English, French, and Spanish (French father and Peruvian mother). We always tell people that his name is spelled like fabric with an “e.”
With fingers crossed,
Sandi
Kelly says
FABRIC ME!!! My name means warrior woman and its perfect because I’m the only girl with four brothers so I had to be tough.
Joy says
FABRIC ME!
I love my name and always have. I got the name Joy because my mother always hated nicknames and when she was in the hospital giving birth to my older sister, the woman in the room next to her named her baby Joyce. She liked the essence of the name, but didn’t like nicknames, so I was named Joy.
Krishnan says
FABRIC ME ! Named after lord krishna.
Rachael F. says
Fabric me! My parents were going to name me either Rachael or Matthew depending on whether I was a boy or a girl. They’ve never told me any other, deeper significance to my name though. Ill have to find out!
Penny says
FABRIC ME!
I was named after a chick in a cartoon that appeared in a now-defunct magazine. I think my parents said the magazine was called Country Gentleman, or something like that.
Christi says
FABRIC ME!!
My parents just liked the name. I’m not named after anyone special or after a film star or anything fun like that. Just “Christi” spelled a bit odd, but a great name, I think!!
Patricialynn says
FABRIC ME!
My first name, Patricia, means “noble one” and as a child I hated it. My mother would always say “Your name means Noble one, so sit up straight and act like it!” Ugh. Drove me nuts!
Kaycie says
FABRIC ME! My parents got my name (& the spelling) from one of my Mom’s best friends when she was younger. I used to hate how it was spelled (no ready-made personalized keychains or coffee mugs for me), but now I love it!

Kara Murray says
Fabric Me!
According to the World Wide Web my name means friend or beloved. My mom’s name is Kathy and my dad’s name is Ray so they took the first two letters from each of their names to make Kara. At least that’s what they’ve told me! I always wanted a longer name so I could have a cool nickname or sorts, but my maiden name is Tubbs and being an athlete, wveryone called me Tubbs or Tubby which is funny :). In college people were always surprised to meet me in person because I’m actually quite small. They had thought Tubbs was my nickname.
Jill says
FABRIC ME! Named after my mom’s cousin.
Jessie says
Fabric me!!
Haha! This is a funny question because it has always bugged me that my name has no meaning. I have three siblings and they are all named after family members for their middle names and their first names (Jacob, Rachel, and Rebecca) are all in the same story in the bible. My parents just liked my name…. and I do to :) Jessie Rae
Trish says
FABRIC ME! I am of mostly Scottish descent, and apparently Patrick means noble one, so, Patricia is the female version of that Scottish name.

Shelly says
FABRIC ME!! Name means “meadow on a ledge” or “frolicking in a meadow”… or many other pastoral adjectives, depending on where you look. My parents just liked it…. and wanted me to be called ‘Shelly’ so they named me that directly instead of the more popular Michelle.
