After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

FABRIC ME!
When my mother was pregnant with me and they were trying to figure out a name, one of her co-workers suggested it. My mother’s first name is my middle name but my first name is just random. :)
Jordan says
FABRIC ME! It wasn’t until middle school that I learned I was named after the Jordan in great gatsby and not the river. It was the first time my mom had heard Jordan as a girl’s name when she was reading while preggo.
Rainbow says
…so do I win by most outlandish name? haha, but seriously, it’s my real name and in summery, my parents were hippies. There IS a slightly sweeter version though. On top of hippie mom and dad, my mom was told after her second child, that she would not be able to have anymore children. She then had a dream years later, (that entailed god sitting with her, and giving her a daughter etc) that was filled with this little girl. She found out shortly after that she was pregnant, and named me Rainbow, because it means ‘promise of god’. My full name (excluding last) is Rainbow Harvest Rose; that one is all hippie ;)
Maureen says
FABRIC ME! I was named after my grandmother. I was always such a tomboy that I wanted a name that could be shortened to a boys name like Samantha/Sam
katrina says
FABRIC ME!
i actually don’t know why my parents picked my name

FABRIC ME
No cool story…sorry :(
Rainbow says
whoops.. Fabric Me
Alainna says
FABRIC ME! According to my Dad, I’m named after his brother, Alan, who died at age 17 from cancer. According to my Mom, I’m named for the heroin she admired in a book. Makes you wonder what lies Mom told Dad in order to get me named…huh? wink wink. I wanted to have a “normal” name like Jennifer, Heather, or Amanda throughout middle school, but that changed probably the minute 8th grade ended.
Linds says
FABRIC ME! No interesting stories here, but I’m pretty sure the name comes from the Linden Tree and also that it’s traditionally a Scottish name for boys!
Alex says
Fabric Me!! My name was a last minute choice as my parents were convinced I was going to be a boy and I think it was random so no legacy to it.
Mandy says
Fabric me! My name doesn’t have any special meaning that I know of.
Katie says
FABRIC ME!!!!
I was named after maternal & paternal great-grandmas! Couldn’t think of better ladies either!

Erin J says
I am not sure about my first name, but my middle name Elizabeth is a family name.
Erin J says

Lori S says
FABRIC ME!!
Last minute choice- parents thought I was a boy! My mom liked an actress on a soap named Lori and there you go!
Tracy says
FABRIC ME! No special reason – a last minute pick when my parents saw I was a girl :)
Alexis says
FABRIC ME! My name was supposed to be Alexandra until my mom went on a student exchange trip where everyone was drinking coffee (the smell made her nauseated) and calling the kids “Alle-handra”… kinda ruined it for her.
Bethany says
Fabric Me!
My Aunt’s name is Cindy Beth. She had a baby first and named him Kristopher after my mom, Christine. So my mom named me Bethany after my Aunt.
Jessica says
FABRIC ME!
As the first grandchild, I was named after my grandfather & uncle who share the name Jesse. My mom opted for “Jessie”. Thankfully, my dad changed it last minute to Jessica…which I prefer!
Rebekah C. says
Fabric me!
Meh, my name isn’t particularly special, but my high school nickname (Jesus) was. I am not a Christian, but I was a really good soccer goalie and had thick, long, curly hair, so “Jesus saves” was what my teammates called me :)
annie says
FABRIC ME!
my name is an old family name.
AC says
FABRIC ME! My full name means “priceless cabbage”. Clearly, I need to win this giveaway with a name like that! :P
Bianca L. says
FABRIC ME!
My older sister Erica and I were named for the mother/daughter duo on my mom’s favorite soap opera… All My Children!
Tierney says
FABRIC ME! My name means “grandchild of God” and my parents wanted something different for my maiden name of Brown.
Ashleigh says
FABRIC ME!
My mom was inspired by a character on the Young and the Restless soap opera but spelled it a little funky.
Also, so excited about this giveaway! I just ordered a ton of samples from Online Fabric Store – which is also a great deal by the way at $1 each ($3.50 for some) and free shipping!!!

Fabric Me!!!
No special meaning but when I was growing up I tried to convince friends my real name was Anastasia because it sounded much cooler than my typical 80’s name
Abby says
FABRIC ME!
My name’s Abigail Anne, but my dad was always more likely to call me “Dimples.”
Kate Bilsborough says
FABRIC ME! No special meaning behind my name, however all five kids in my family have a 4 letter first name and no middle name. I think our parents had too much trouble agreeing on one name let alone 2!
Tonya says
Fabric Me! My mom heard my name in a movie and always liked it…nothing too exciting!
Tara R says
Fabric Me! I found out three days ago on my 35th birthday that mom named me after a character from the soap opera “All My Children”. Lol how delightfully tacky!
jessica says
FABRIC ME!!
I wish there was a special story behind my name…growing up there were always so many people called Jessica…it was boring! Now that i’m a bit older, and the other Jessicas have moved away, my name has become more ‘mine’! It also made buying personalised items easier, because theres always the name Jessica! Mostly it was sold out though!! haha!
Jenny says
FABRIC ME!
I had the most boring, common name. Now I’ve just gotten married and went through the whole name-changing process to a last name that is slightly less common. Every once in a while I do miss my old last name, though!
Linda says
FABRIC ME! My dad liked the name Linda and my middle name, Marie, is the same as my aunts :o)
Jessica says
FABRIC ME!
No special meaning behind my name. My parents wanted a name that wasn’t overly popular. Jessica in the 80’s, pretty popular!

JC says
Fabric Me!
I have a French Canadian name (Jean-Christian) that translates in English to “John-Christian” which was named after a bible quote of the day at the Hospital where my Mom was giving birth (from John the apostle), and combined with “Christ” (Crhistian). It’s a very unique name, and I like it, but I always liked the name Marc for some reason.
I could TOTALLY use the fabric, too. I need curtains, upholstery, and even bedding, so I could put that 250$ to good use!
:D
Lorien says
Fabric me!
My name comes from The Lord of the Rings books — Lothlorien is the forest city where elves Galadriel and Celeborn live… yes, my parents are big nerds! It’s pretty funny that my hubby (who I met online) didn’t initially message me because he thought a username of Lorien was too pretentious :) Glad he got over that!
Gabby says

Libby says
FABRIC ME! No story behind my name, but everyone thinks it’s a nickname…
