After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

I’m entering my daughter’s name to say ‘FABRIC ME’. Her name is still my favorite that I’ve ever heard (my own mother’s middle name) meaning: “great forest”. Literary: the Forest of Arden in Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” was a magically beautiful place.
Nikki @ The Basics says
FABRIC ME!!! :)
Well my real name, Nicole, means victory I think but other than that I think my parents just liked it. If I was a boy I would be named, Matt…which coincidentally is my husband’s name. I have always been called Nikki, and used to want the name Chelsey for some reason. Now, I just like my name….haha
Samantha says
Fabric me! Those little cards that tell you what your name means used to say Samantha was Arabic and meant listener, but they now say it is a feminine form of Samuel first used in the 1700s in New England. My parents chose it while they were watching a Bewitched re-run. I’ve always liked that I was named after a witch! :)

Contrary to what I was asked constantly as a kid, no – my mom didn’t love baseball nor did she own a Kirby vacuum. My name means “by the church”, which my mom thought was cool. I still can’t decide whether I like the name…

“FABRIC ME!” My name means . . . the past tense of draw.
Sara Eisenbacher says

Jacki says
Fabric Me!!!!! My mom chose my name Jacqulyn based on an author she liked. But she didn’t like either common spelling for my name and chose the first half of one and the last half of the other and came up with the way may name is spelled. The nurse even asked her is she knew she was spelling it wrong.
As far as wanting to be a differnt name in 3rd grade my teacher couldn’t remember how to spell my name and shortened it for me to Jackie. This made my mom so mad. She still talks about since it stuck. In college I got lazy with my cursive and somehow dropped the e and Jackie became Jacki. Guess needing to be different is an inherited gene.
Laura says
FABRIC ME! My parents named me after the pioneering author, Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Brittany Shaw says
FABRIC ME!
Loren says
FABRIC ME!
I recently changed my last name after getting married, so I’ve been thinking a lot about the two names I’m keeping: Loren Ann. I’m named after my grandfather (Loren was his middle name) and my Grandmother Anna. They were wonderful people and even better grandparents, and I’m so glad I get to carry their names with me wherever I go.
Jess says
FABRIC ME!! Please!
My parents saw a movie with a tall blonde lead actress named Jessica right before I was born. My middle name, picked with a little more sentiment, was in honor of both my grandmothers. I actually love my name and have felt it grow with me from little Jessie, to Jess to Jessica.
Joni says
FABRIC ME! My parents had a hard time choosing a name for me because my mom taught at a girls high school for 7 years before I was born, so every name reminded her of at least one student.
Karen says
FABRIC ME!
My sister had a classmate named Karen, and begged my mom not to name me that–she didn’t like her! My mom prevailed!
Jane says
Fabric me! I was named after both of my grandmothers middle names.
Nicole says
Fabric me! My middle name is the same as my dad’s just spelled differently. I have always loved my name!
Amanda says
FABRIC ME!
Only slightly embarrassing, but my name means “must be loved” or “worthy to be loved …” It’s a family name so I don’t believe the meaning had much to do with my parents’ choosing it.
