After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

Chloe R. says
FABRIC ME!
My name is complicated – I was Jennifer originally, although my mom really wanted to call me Chloe. Eventually when I was around one, my mom just started calling me Chloe, and that became my name (and is now my legal name). But it’s funny to watch early home movies of people calling me Jennifer!
Krista N says
FABRIC ME!
I was supposed to be Christopher but when I was born a girl they changed it to Krista:)

Amanda says
Fabric ME! I’m named after my great-grandma, and my middle name is after my Grandma. Not too fancy, but a legacy I’m proud to continue! When I was little I wished my name was Amy. No idea why!
Cara says
FABRIC ME! My sister picked my name; it means “friend.” I didn’t like my name much growing up (people always misspelled it, mispronounced or misread/misheard it). But now I couldn’t imagine having any other name :)
April D. says
Fabric Me! It’s my birth month— I’m the fourth girl and I think my parents were a little tired of figuring out girl names!

Rosanna says
FABRIC ME!
Jessjdycus says
FABRIC ME!!
My name is pretty common nowadays, but my parents swear it wasn’t when I was born (1979). Anyway, I was named after my grandfather (Jessie Walter). They left out the Walter, thankfully, as I am a lady. :)
katie dake says
FABRIC ME!
My name is Katryn, creatively spelled by my mother. It should have been spelled Katrin. I’m forever correcting folks who assume I’ve mispelled my own name. I’m pregnant with a baby girl, and take a hard line against creative spellings.
Barbara says
Please please please…..FABRIC ME!
I was born in my Aunt’s home and in the excitement my grandfather was sent to register my birth at the ‘City Hall’. While it was agreed that I be named Barbara my middle name of An, was not accepted by the registrar, so my grandfather flipped the letters and I became Anna…

Stephanie says
FABRIC ME!
I just ordered samples from here and can’t wait to get some now sew curtains and things done up. My name “Stephanie” comes from the word crown. It means Royalty. I guess that’s fitting seeing how I am a QUEEN! LOL..Well my name was supposed to be Krysti Marie until I was born and then my dad changed it and mom rolled with it. Hard to imagine myself as Krysti Marie. Nope, Now I am Stephanie Lee. At least they kept it rhyming, right? What’s funny is we all rhyme. My mom and dad are Stan and Ann and my sister and I are Stephanie and Tiffany. I think it’s a little strange. :)
Rani says
FABRIC ME!
My parents named me Rani which means queen! Which is bad enough…And now after marriage my last name is Engineer…imagine the weird glances, raised eyebrows and poor jokes that I have to put up with at times at the airport, banks etc because people think its a fake or odd last name! Grrrr…! LOL!

Taylor is my mother’s maiden name and it is actually my middle name. I switched from Alexandra when I was little and had just changed schools. I think I just wanted a change at the time and my parents didn’t mind. Looking back, I like both names.

FABRIC ME!

Lori says
Fabric me! I have no idea about my name…
Emily says
Fabric me! My first name was a pick my parents liked…but my middle name is in honor of my aunt (Clare) because I was born on her 8th birthday! There are 19 years between my mom and Clare, so in some ways Clare and I are more like sisters than she and my mom! :)

FABRIC ME!
Erica says
Fabric Me!!
My mom is a fan of All My Children. She liked the name Erica from the character on the show!(I’m 26, btw) There were other choices on the list, but it came down to Erica, or Eric if I was a boy. (like another commenter said, my last name is long and complicated, so she wanted my first name to be short and simple.)
Amber says
FABRIC ME!
My mom saw a set of twins on the Johnny Carson show when she was pregnant with me. Their names were Amber and Autumn. It was a toss up until I was born, I guess! I’ve never been overly fond of it because I think it sounds like a stripper name… this mom of three barely undresses in front of a mirror, let alone a crowd!
