After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

Lindsey D says
FABRIC ME!
Gina Stierwalt says
FABRIC ME!
My parents couldn’t come up with a name and ultimately landed on Gina. My mom’s name is Jeanne, and while they had rejected names like Janelle for being too similar to Mom’s, they didn’t connect the dots that Gina and Jeanne are off by ONE syllable. *sigh* The good news is that I love my name!
Nora says
Fabric Me!
I’m named after my grandmother who passed away shortly before I was born – she was an amazing lady!
Renee K says
Fabric Me!!!
Alison says
FABRIC ME!
My mom babysat a little girl named Alison and she loved it!
Leah says
FABRIC ME! I’m sure this isn’t the reason my parents picked my name (well, at least I hope not), but Leah means, “Wild Cow” in Hebrew. Yes, wild cow.
Jennifer B says
FABRIC ME! My name has no special meeting. They liked Jennifer, Stephanie, and Rachel, but my sister’s name is Julie, so they thought they would keep the J’s going. Now we also have a Jessica and a Jamie.
Vashti says
FABRIC ME!
My name is Persian in origin, but I am of Irish and English descent. My dad grew up sailing and the name of a family friend’s boat was Vashti. He liked the name, and somehow my mom did too… I always get strange looks and have to repeat it a few times when meeting new people, gotta love being blonde and having a Indian name. …Have never met another one :)
Miranda says
FABRIC ME!
My name came from a gothic romance that my mother read when she was 14. She decided then that if she ever had a daughter, it would be her name. I have read the book that my name came from and tried not to be insulted by the insipid character for which i was named.
Annie P. says
Fabric me!
Carissa says
FABRIC ME!!!
I have no idea why my parents chose my name…all I know is they wanted to stick with something that started with a ‘C’ – my sister, two brothers, and I all have the same initials (at least before my sister and I got married).
Marisa says
FABRIC ME!
My first name doesn’t have much of a story, but my middle name – Lynore – is a combination of my Grandmothers’ names, Lorlyn and Elinore.
Amanda says
FABRIC ME!
I love the story behind my name, my grandfather went to a dance the night I was born, had a few drinks, and when the song “Amanda” came on, he announced that was the name of his new granddaughter My mom decided to go with it.

My parents heard my name on a soap opera and liked it…so they used it… exciting story, isn’t it?!
Erin May says
FABRIC ME!
My name means “girl from Ireland”, which I always love to trot out around St. Paddy’s for bonus points. The
“May” in my name is actually for my grandmother, Phyllis May, and her grandmother who was honest-to-god named Minnie May. I love my second name and hope to pass it on someday!
In a fun twist, I just received my namesake grandmother’s sewing machine and am itching for new projects and new fabrics for it!!
Elizabeth McKinney says
FABRIC ME!! I really need to make some curtains! I’m named after Queen Elizabeth I and her mother, Anne Boelyn. So, Elizabeth Anne. My momis heavily into the Tudors in general and Elizabeth I in particular. I’ve never minded my name and gave it to my daughter as a middle name.
Meri M says
FABRIC ME!!
I am named after my grandmother Mary who passed away a few months before I was born, but my mom wanted me to have my own ‘identity,’ so she changed the spelling. I always got very interesting pronunciations in school. :)

Karen F says
fabric me!
my dad told me that my parents picked my name because it was short!
Stephanie says
FABRIC ME!!
According to the stories, my oldest brother picked my name. I guess he had a friend named Stephanie, and he suggested it to my parents who liked it. Considering he was 6 years old at the time, it could have gone poorly! I like it though. :)

Emily – like Emily Dickinson! And Mom swears she picked it BEFORE it was popular… ;)

Fabric Me! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity! I LOVE my name; I was named after both of my grandmothers – Suzanne from my mom’s mom and Rose from my dad’s mom :)
Sarah says
FABRIC ME! :)
My parents chose my name because they thought it was “classic.” The tough thing is, so did about 20 other sets of parents in my school district that year. I’ve always had millions of Sarahs in my classes, even in college … that can get a little confusing! Haha! Kind of wish they would have picked something “classic” but “UNIQUE!” :-D
Anna B. says
FABRIC ME!
My name Anna & I am named after my great grandmother Rose Anna. She was a beautiful woman with a pioneer history and I am honored to be named after her. My family, however, always calls me Annie and sometimes I wish that was my official name. But whatever, it’s a sweet name.
Andrea says
FABRIC ME…I love my name. It means womanly, but it sounds nice. I am named after a family friend. Better than the alternative–AMBER!

FABRIC ME!
My name was supposed to be Lauren..initials would be LTM. Story is, my parents both worked at a bank, and automatic teller machines were just becoming popular..and now my name is Amy. Initials are (well before I got married) ATM. HAHAH!
Elisabeth Lyons says
Fabric me!
I am Elisabeth with an “s” instead of a “z”… but only because my mom doesn’t like how lowercase z’s look. :)
natalie says
FABRIC ME!
Means, Christmas child, but I was born in March! Love it:)
Vanessa says
FABRIC ME
There is a butterfly common to this area called Painted Lady and its Latin name is Vanessa cardui. So when my mom happened to be looking in the book to identify the butterfly while we was pregnant with me–hence my name.
Melissa says
FABRIC ME!
My name means “bee” – but I don’t think there was any meaning or reason behind my parents choosing it.
Rebekah says
FABRIC ME!
So, here’s the story on my name: at the last minute, my mother decided not to name me after one of her best friends, Rancine. (Really, Mom? A name calls spoiled milk to mind?!) And “Rebekah” popped in her head. I’m eternally grateful that she went with the Hebrew spelling, though it makes life a little difficult.
Years later, we both discovered that I have a great, great, extra-great grandmother named Rebekah. :)
Erinn says
My name is Erinn Richele. The Erinn part is to honor the Irish side of our family, and my mom made an unusual spelling back in 1980, way before it was the norm. I love her for that! My middle name has more meaning, though. I was conceived even though my mom had her tubes tied after my older sisters were born. She was told having any more children would be too much strain on her weak heart, but she had faith and carried me to full term anyway. During my delivery there were complications. My mom and I flat lined and the fact that we pulled through was miraculous. Weighing in at 10 lbs, 3 oz and measuring 23 and 1/2 inches long, I was clearly a test to any woman’s strength during delivery! To honor the doctors who saved our lives, (Richard and Michele) my mom blended their names together to make Richele. My name is a constant reminder of the faith my mom had and the doctors who helped her beat the odds. <3
Jenni says
FABRIC ME!
my middle name is also the middle name of my great-grandmother, my grandmother, and my mother….and now my niece also has it!
