After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

Anna says
FABRIC ME!
There is no meaning to my first name (Anna) and I did not have a middle name until I got married. My Mom thought I did not need a middle name because one day I would get married and my maiden name would become my middle name.
Sarah R says
FABRIC ME!!
Don’t know that there is a meaning behind my name. My parents thought I was going to be a boy, but surprise! I think they had a to make a quick decision on a girl name since they already had a boy named picked out. I’m fine with my name, never thought I wanted to be named anything else.
Emily McClure says
FABRIC MEEE :) My middle name (Shane) has been shared by my mother and grandmother! hope to pass it down someday :)
Nikki says
FABRIC ME!
My mom loved the actress Nia Peeples (where did she go, anyway?) and so she named me Nicole based on that. I’ve always wondered how she got Nicole out of Nia, but I’ve gone by Nikki since about 5th grade so it doesn’t matter much!
Elizabeth Ann says
FABRIC ME!!!! My name is just a family name. Very classic!

Rachel says
Fabric me! My parents decided to name me rachel if I had brown hair and Sarah if I was blonde (my mom was blonde and my dad had brown hair). My hair was brown when I was born so they named me rachel and then it turned completely blonde. I love my name and I guess I was determined to have it despite their plan!
Erica M says

My parents couldn’t agree on a name, until they were watching All My Children together and decided they both liked the name Erica, thank you Erica Kane/Susan Lucci!

Aubrey says
fabric me!
My mom was planning on naming me “rebekah” but then my dad, who was actually stationed in Turkey with the air force at the time, heard this song called “aubrey” by the band bread. It’s really a beautiful song – you should google it/youtube it. He loved the song so much he begged my mom to name me aubrey. Since he couldn’t be there for my birth, she decided he should get to pick the name, in spite of her concerns that no one would spell it right and would call me “audrey”. of course I’ve come to love my name, even if it is never spelled right.
and my middle name (which I just passed down to my own daughter!) is the same as my mom’s and my grandma’s – i have always loved that I shared that with them.
Carla says
FABRIC ME!
I was named after my grandfather, Carl Andrew.
Marissa says
FABRIC ME!!!
Nothing exciting about the meaning, but I did spend elementary school trying to come up with a nickname no one knew how to pronounce it and no one else had it. Today I’m thrilled that Missy (“i” dotted with a heart) didn’t stick :)
Jeannie says
FEBRIC ME! Both of my grandmothers are named Jean. I guess my parents wanted to name me after them but have it be a little different, so they spelled it “Jeanne.” I like my name, but no one ever spells it correctly!
Erin says
FABRIC ME!
My best name-related story is that it’s a good thing I turned out to be a girl… Despite having no idea what gender I would be, my parents never picked any boy names!

FABRIC ME!
My names are from the Dutch side of my family, and they show up periodically in the family tree over the past 400 years (we are well documented lol). My two middle names are my Oma’s two middle names, so they feel extra special.
Johanna Charlotte Louise, pronounced Yo-ha-nah Charlotta Louisa
Every time I hear my full name I hear my mom’s voice say Johanna Charlotta Louisa, let me give you a great big squeezah! *grin*
Lauren says

Julie says
FABRIC ME!
My parents thought I was going to be a boy, so Julie was the only name they could agree on once I came into the world a girl. They later told me that if I was a boy, I was going to be named Mark. When I was in elementary school, I wished my name was Danielle, haha!
Jeri says
FABRIC ME!
I don’t know that there’s much meaning behind my first name. I should ask my parents where the heck they got it from one of these days. But my middle name Marie is after my grandma and great-grandma, so that’s cool.

Fabric Me!
I am named after the Judy Blume book Deenie!
Diana says
FABRIC ME!
I was born 2 months after Princess Diana and Charles got married, but my mom claims that has nothing to do with where she got my name, she says she just liked the name and doesn’t know where she heard it. I don’t buy it.

I’m named after both of my grandmothers who both have the same (pretty uncommon) first name.

FABRIC ME!!!!!!
My mom wanted to name me Christy. Somehow my grandmom (dads’ mom) talked my mom into naming me Tracy instead. No disrespect to the Christy’s out there, but I’m thankful my grandmom intervened :)
AND….. this is SUCH great timing, because reading your post earlier about your cool fabric choice for Clara’s room, I was pining away about how we have no cool local fabric store and wondering if there isn’t a good trustworthy online fabric store I could try. And VOILA! Here it is. Thanks :)

My first name is just one my parent’s liked but my middle name is also my Grandma’s name, who passed away before I was born.
Kimberly Kent says
FABRIC ME!
No special meaning to my name. However, when I was little my parents found a doll that has a Kimberly shirt on, so I was convinced she was named after me!
Lauren says
FABRIC ME! My name is just one my parents liked. They both have L names and so do I.
Evia says
FABRIC ME!
I’ve got a family name. Spelled Evia but pronounced Eva – the silent “i” throws everyone off! I love it and wouldn’t want a different name.
